Jean spends his Off Watch time inventing. On the dog watches where he is off duty, he spends an hour eating and socializing with the crew, then spends an hour messing with the Sensors researching neutrino emissions. His other off duty time he spends doing things like sending letters home, maintenance, personal grooming, seeing what the other crew members are up to, and the occasional nap. He prefers to do most engineering work on his morning shift, spending the 8 hour night shifts essentially sessile on the Bridge.
