In the nights before towering skyscrapers, the skyline of Detroit was dominated by soaring church
spires. Those nights have largely been erased, but pieces of old Detroit can still be seen on east Jefferson
where the parade of grand 19th century houses is interspersed with turn of the century apartment
buildings and clubhouses of the wealthy.
