New Detroit

This 60-block area located three miles north of Downtown is built around two majestic
office buildings of the 1920s: the Fisher Building and the GM Building. In 1983, a third major
office and retail complex was added, New Center One, followed shortly by the St. Regis Hotel.
Sky bridges connect these buildings, which employ some 10,00 people by day.

Tonight, New Detroit sits at the center of the region’s shrinking population and is easily
accessible from any direction. The kindred occasionally make use of the vacant offices here
for low-key gatherings, but most prefer the opulent old buildings further downtown.
