Furud ::It's twilight, and the stars are only beginning to show against the purple-grey of the not-quite-night sky. Furud turns off the car and walks around to Merope's side, opening the door for her courteously, then climbing onto the hood and leaning back to stare up at the stars.::
Merope clambers up and sorta nestles in to Furud's side. "Ok, we're here. What did you want to show me?"
Furud puts his arm around Merope and tucks a blanket about both their shoulders in case the night gets a bit chilly. "Just the sky. It's beautiful, don't you think?" He looks up dreamily. "I wonder what it's like."
Merope "It's pretty, yeah." says Merope, without much enthusiasm.
Furud "Don't you want to know what it's like out there?"
Merope "It's cold. And dark. It sounds... lonely." She shudders.
Furud "Lonely? Do you think so? I bet there's music," he taps his torc, and a soft tone chimes out. "connecting us all."
Merope "Us? Oh, you mean..." She pauses. "Furud, honey, I mean... do you really believe you're... I mean, an actual star?"
Furud "Of course we are." He sounds serene, and he leans his head in to touch hers, still looking upwards. "Can't you feel it? There's this tug on my soul whenever I look up at the night sky, and a hole in my heart that I can't fill here on earth. I think it's where the music goes."
Merope "You really feel all that? I mean, they're pretty, but I don't look up there and see my family. They're just... points of light."
Furud "Yeah... why don't you let yourself feel it?" He turns on his side, propping himself up on his elbow. "There's got to be more to life than," he gestures widely "this."
Merope looks around her. "I don't know, Furud. I guess it all just sounds so... silly, I guess. Stars aren't people. They're all... gas, and stuff."
Furud laughs, "I've known plenty of people who are nothing but gas."
Merope hits him, playfully. "You know what I mean. It just doesn't make any sense. And why us?"
Furud acts like it hurt, "aw, baby, why do you hurt me so?" He laughs. "Because we're special, Merope. We're not like the rest, and you know it."
Merope gets stern. "Don't do that."
Furud "Do what?"
Merope "Dismiss people like that."
Furud blinks at her. "I don't know what you mean."
Merope pauses. "No. You don't."
Merope There is an uncomfortable silence. Then: "You've been talkign to Heka about this stuff, haven't you? I see you, talking together."
Furud "Well yeah. I mean. Of course I do." He shifts akwardly, not entirely sure why. "You know, he's the STAR of the football team." He grins again.
Merope is quiet for a bit. "Furud.. he's my brother, ok? Don't... mix him up in anything... serious."
Furud cocks his head to the side, "Mero, Heka's my best friend. I would never let him get hurt."
Merope pauses for a short moment, and then says "Good. Thank you." She kisses him on the cheek.
Merope "Take me home, Furud."
