The Nature of Ghosts

Ghosts use an abbreviated form of statistics, utilizing three Attributes (Power, Finesse and Resistance) and five Skills (Being, Eerie, Grace, Memory, Rage). The Ghost's Attributes determine it's gross capability while it's skills better outline it's strengths and weaknesses. Both sets of traits are normally limited to 5, but very old shades can raise these considerably higher. Ghosts do not have Merits; they have Numen instead!

Most Ghosts that still retain a human configuration retain a Size of 5, while their Species Factor for calculating Speed is (10 + Power + Finesse)! A Ghost's Defense is equal to it's Finesse, while it's Willpower is (Power + Resistance) and it's Corpus is (Resistance + Size). This last statistic replaces a mortal's Health. Ghost's have a Morality score, Virtues and Vices as normal.

Skills

Being: A Ghost's Being skill defines how well-anchored and "together" the spirit is, giving it the ability to resist the pull of the Underworld (either remaining in the living world, or avoiding getting sucked deeper into the Great Below). Ghosts with a high-Being have more 'physical' manifestations, and are more able to withstand abjurations and exorcisms. A low-Being ghost, by contrast, manifests as a hazy phantom and is easily driven away by even mundane acts of will.
Eerie: The Eerie skill of a Shade represents its ability to recognize and interact with it's surroundings, whether that be understanding its place in the living world or recognizing the dangers of the Underworld. Ghosts with a high-Eerie are aware of their surroundings, and the changes that they have undergone, and are better able to adapt to such changes. A low-Being ghost likely never realizes that it's dead, no matter how long it lingers in the afterlife.
Grace: The Specters Grace skill regulates its ability to master it's own emotions, and maintains a better sense of the wants and needs of others. It is thus better able to interact with both the living and other shades. A high-Grace ghost can usually find a way to communicate with others, and is better able to influence and control others with its Numen. A low-Grace ghost, by contrast, is little more than unbridled emotions and alien drives.
Memory: The soul's ability to hold onto it's former identity post-mortem is reflected in it's Memory skill, which reflects the degree to which the ghost is able to understand what's gone before and anticipate what might happen in the future. A Ghost with a high-Memory is considerably more human in its interactions, and better able to understand complex interactions. A low-memory Ghost is barely more than a memory itself...
Rage: The Rage skill reflects the spirit's passion, and it's ability to use that vibrant energy to affect the outside world, either piercing the deathshroud and affecting the living world or dominating its enviroment within the Underworld. A Ghost with a high-Rage is strongly passionate and better able to see it's wishes made manifest around it, while a low-Rage spirit is largely impotent.
