Basic Lunar Defensive Dodge charms

Bowing Reed Defense (Revised)

  Cost: 4 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 2
  Minimum Essence: 1
  Prerequisite Charms: None

The Lunar Exalted are seldom still, especially not in combat. They manuever for advantage and to defend themselves constantly, and these manuevers come naturally. With the aid of this charm, the Lunar Exalted moves easily and casually out of the way of most attacks, ducking reflexively under sword thrusts and sidestepping the clumsy stabs of his opponents. For the remainder of the turn after activating this charm, the Lunar gains a free reflexive Dodge at his Dexterity rating against every attack that is made against him. The Lunar gains no bonuses from specialities or Essence, nor from his Dodge ability. He cannot use a reflexive dodge against an attack he's already attempted to dodge in another manner, and must be aware of the attack in order to dodge it. The Lunar must be able to move freely to benefit from this charm.

Serpent Eye Defense (Revised)

  Cost: 6 motes
  Duration: Instant
  'Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Manipulation: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Bowing Reed Technique

The Lunar catches the opponents gaze, his eyes hypnotic and captivating, creating in the attacker a sense of vertigo and a loss of balance. This is more than sufficient to ruin most any attack that the character might have, and raises the difficulty of any roll to attack the character by the Lunars Charisma score. Once this charm has been invoked or if the attacker has experienced with this charm, he can start to avoid meeting the Lunars gaze. This gives the attacker a +2 difficulty to all rolls involving the Lunar, however, both attack and defense. The only way to eliminate this penality is to once again open yourself up to this charm. The attacker cannot pick and choose when to meet the Lunars gaze and when to avoid it.

Other Charms

  • Bending Before the Storm: This charm is unchanged. Lunars, page 163.
  • Wind-Dancing Method: This charm costs 3 motes, and allows the Lunar to leap his (Dexterity x2) yards after a dodge rather than the listed distance. It is otherwise as found on Lunars, page 163-4.

Unmoving Bear Defense (Revised)

  Cost: 3 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Bowing Reed Technique

The Lunar utilizes his natural affinity for shapeshifting along with his generally quickened reflexes in order to sidestep an attack. This charm gives the Lunar a reflexive defense with his full Dexterity + Dodge + Essence + any specialities. The Lunar can even use this charm to attempt to dodge attacks when he cannot move, such as when hes bound or climbing up a cliff face, though his pool to dodge such attacks is only his Dexterity + Essence rating.

Flowing Body Evasion (Revised)

  Cost: 6 motes, 1 willpower
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Charisma: 4
  Minimum Essence: 3
  Prerequisite Charms: Unmoving Bear Defense

The character fully masters his ability to utilize shapeshifting for the purposes of avoiding attacks, becoming a fully protean and nearly untouchable opponent. The Lunar may reflexively activate this charm whenever he is attacked, and make a Dexterity + Dodge roll. The character can dodge any normal attack as a perfect defense if the character gets at least a single success on this roll. This charm will even allow the Lunar to avoid attacks that are normally undodgeable if the Lunar rolls at least as many successes as the attackers Essence. This charm is most effective if the character has not already acted in the turn. If he has already taken an action and uses this charm he may only roll his Dexterity rating.

Other Charms

  • Foot Trapping Counter: This charm is unchanged. Lunars, page 165.
  • Pack-Saving Method: This charm can be used normally after the character has taken an action in the turn and has a Essence requirement of 2. Lunars, page 165.
  • Running Through the Herd: This charm is unchanged. Lunars, page 166.
