Basic Lunar Defensive Parry charms

Ground-Denying Defense (Revised)

  Cost: 1 mote per enemy
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 2
  Minimum Essence: 1
  Prerequisite Charms: None

The exalt with this charm has less to fear from being outnumbered in combat, as he can utilize his superior mobility and instincts to reduce the number of enemies that are able to attack him at any one time. Under normal circumstances a character can only be attacked by five attackers at once, with enviromental conditions possibly reducing this number further. The Lunar with this charm can spend 1 mote per enemy to lower this number even further, to a minimum of one attacker. The Lunar spends the essence for this charm prior to initiative being rolled and has no control over which opponents are avoided; faster opponents are able to attack the Lunar, while slower opponents are evaded. The Lunar cannot spend more essence on this charm than his Dexterity score.

Feline Guard Technique (Revised)

  Cost: 2 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Ground-Denying Defense

The Lunar can instantly react to any attack, gaining a free reflexive parry roll against an attack of which he is aware. This roll is made at the characters full Dexterity + Ability + any weapon modifiers, though the character is only able to activate this charm a number of times per turn equal to his Essence + the Rate of his weapon.

Den Mother Method (Revised)

  Cost: 2 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 4
  Minimum Essence: 3
  Prerequisite Charms: Feline Guard Technique

The Lunar reacts with preternatural reflexes, his reactions spurred on by essence. The Lunar may activate this charm to parry any one attack directed at another character, so long as the Lunar is aware of the attack and within his Dexterity rating in yards of the other character. This charm is most effective if the Lunar has not yet acted this turn, allowing the character to roll his full Dexterity + Ability + any weapon modifiers. If he has already taken an action this turn the Lunar only rolls his Dexterity score. The successes from this attack stack with any defense that the character himself makes, if the Lunars own defense is not sufficient. If the Lunar fails to deflect a blow aimed at his charge, he can choose to take the attack himself. The Lunar Exalted used to use this charm in the First Age to protect their Solar mates.

Crouching Tiger Stance (Revised)

  Cost: 4 motes, 1 willpower
  Duration: One turn
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Dexterity: 4
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Feline Guard Technique

The Lunar can utilize this charm whenever he aborts to a full parry, turning his defensiveness into a deadly trap for his attackers, acting and reacting with in a flurry of parries and counterattacks. After aborting to a full parry and activating this charm, the Lunar ignores the rate of his weapons and can continue to make parries until he runs out of dice to parry with or attacks to parry. He also gains +2 dice to all of his parries for the turn. In addition, any time the character rolls more successes than the attacker, the Lunar gains a free reflexive counterattack. The character cannot make more counterattacks than his Essence.

Golden Tiger Block (Lunars, pg. 162)

  Prerequisite Charms: Ground-Denying Defense

Wary Swallow Technique (Revised)

  Cost: 4 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Wits: 4
  Prerequisite Charms: Golden Tiger Block

The character reacts to information that he has not yet fully acknowledged, moving by instinct to defend against an attack before he has even become aware of it. This allows the Lunar to use his full Wits as a reflexive parry action against any attack launched against him this turn. The Lunar can even defend against attacks of which he is unaware, including attacks from behind or made by invisible opponents. The Lunar gains no bonuses to this attack roll from weapon bonuses or other sources, and cannot choose to use a reflexive defense against an attack he has already parried.

Tiger Paw Disarm

  Cost: 2 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Strength: 2
  Minimum Essence: 1
  Prerequisite Charms: Ground-Denying Defense

The Lunar may use this charm after a successful parry that gives the character more successes than the attack roll, scoring an immediate disarm attempt. The Lunar's opponent must immediately make a Wits + (the relevant Combat ability) roll, with a difficulty equal to the number of extra successes the character had on the parry attempt. If this roll fails, the characters opponent is disarmed and the Lunar may bat his weapon away a number of yards equal to his Strength rating. This charm only works if the opponent has a weapon.

Steel Paw Style (Revised)

  Cost: None
  Duration: Permanent
  Type: Special
  Minimum Stamina: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Tiger Paw Disarm

The character can parry lethal attacks barehanded without the use of a stunt, even in his human form. In addition, the Lunar's hands become hard and difficult to injure, allowing him to punch through glass, ram his hand at full strength against stone, or otherwise safely perform numerous stunts that might otherwise be dangerous or difficult. The character gains a number of bonus dice equal to his Essence on any roll related to his grip, including rolls to resist being disarmed in combat.
