Solar Melee

Glorious Solar Saber (Revised)

  Cost: 6m OR 10m, 1wp; Mins: Melee 4, Essence 3; Type: Simple
  Keywords: Combo-OK, Holy, Obvious
  Duration: One Day
  Prerequisite Charms: Call the Blade

The Lawgiver can manifest his Essence in a gleaming weapon forged from her own anima. This weapon is selected when the Soar purchases this charm, and has the basic statistics of any Artifact ● or ●● Melee weapon except that it's Rate is Infinite. In addition, the weapon is treated as Orichalcum for any materials bonuses, does Aggravated damage to Creatures of Darkness as a Holy effect, and constantly sheds sunlight in the color of the character's Anima as a torch. The Exalt may summon this weapon to his hand from anywhere it has fallen as an invocation of Call the Blade, and this does not count as a Charm activation. This weapon has no other special powers.

When the Solar first purchases the charm, he may instead summon a weapon that mimics the basic statistics of an Artifact ●●● "Grand" Melee weapon, or choose to endow his anima as a pair of weapons for the purposes of dual-wielding. Either option adds adds 4m to the cost of the charm, but otherwise follows all above guidelines. The player may decide upon weapon's final appearance and any other details that are not defined above. This charm may be purchased multiple times, each purchase giving the character another weapon they may summon with this charm.

Mirror Charms

  • Dual Slaying Posture (Mins: Melee 4, Essence 2; Prerequisite Charms: One Weapon, Two Blows; Glories: Luna, p. 22) allows the Solar to wield weapons with the 2 tag using only one hand with no penalty, and similarly eliminates the penalty for dual-wielding any given set of weapons.

Solar Charm Cascade Errata (Melee)

  • Call the Blade (page 191) has the "Combo-Basic" Keyword. If Call the Blade is put into a combo with Heavenly Guardian Defense, you cannot use both charms in the same "instant" in response to the same attack. It's always dangerous to not have your weapon in hand.
  • Glorious Solar Saber (page 192) has been extensively revised; see above.
  • Fivefold Bulwark Stance (page 194) does not reduce DV penalties caused by movement related actions, such as Dash or Jump. However, see Flow Like Blood.
