Contracts and Such

Contracts of Dream (page 124)
  • Pathfinder (•) Sonja learns one single pertinent fact about the local Hedge for each success rolled. This tends to be in the form of "this exists", or "be careful of this," and the clause is only effective out to Sonja's line of sight. This clause can also be used to learn other things about the Hedge...
    • Cost: 1 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Dice Pool: Intelligence + Wyrd (5 dice)
    • Catch: The changeling must have plucked a Thorn from the local Hedge and shed a single drop of blood while doing so within the last day.
    • Modifiers: ⚠ (:showhide div=box1 init=hide:)
ModifierSituation
-1The local hedge is unfamiliar to the character; ala, he's visiting a new Freehold.
–3Examine an object from the Hedge to learn more about it.
Contracts of Hearth (page 128)
  • Fickle Fate (•) Sonja uses this clause to inflict a -2 dice penalty on her targets next actively attempted instant action. An actively attempted action is one the character consciously undertakes, rather than ones that occur automatically or reflexively.
    • Cost: 1 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Ban: May only be used once an hour on the same subject, or rebounds on the changeling.
  • Favored Fate (••) Sonja uses this clause to provide a +4 dice bonus on the subject's next actively attempted action. A song sounds a little better, bullets find their mark, a biting remark contains just the right words. A friendly blessing!
    • Cost: 1 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Ban: If used to augment the same type of action before the sun has risen or set, one of the subjects actions automatically fails for dramatic effect.
Contracts of Vainglory (page 146)
  • Mask of Superiority (•) Sonja can fool a single subject into believing that she is a professional superior or someone of superior social status. This clause only deceives, it doesn't actually compel obedience, and Sonja has no control over who the subject believes her to be. Sonja gains a +1 die bonus to Social actions per success on the activation roll. This lasts one scene.
    • Cost: 2 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Dice Pool: Wyrd + Intimidation (5 dice) - Resolve
    • Catch: The character is pretending to be a socialite or someone whose importance comes from good looks or high standing.
    • Modifiers: The changeling gains a +1 bonus if he's dressed appropriate, and a -1 penalty if he's dressed inappropriately.
  • Songs of Distant Arcadia (••) Sonja uses this clause to become a consummate performer, skilled in the arts and well-spoken. A successful activation adds her Wyrd to all Expression and Persuasion rolls for the rest of the scene. An exceptional success also gives her successes equal to her Wyrd to her next such roll.
    • Cost: 2 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Dice Pool: Wyrd + Expression (7 dice)
    • Catch: The changeling is giving a performance in front of a wealthy and powerful audience.
    • Modifiers: ⚠ (:showhide div=box3 init=hide:)
ModifierSituation
+1 to +2The changeling is wearing an unusually fine costume, or using especially well-made instruments or other accouterments.
-1 to -2The changeling is dressed in an unassuming fashion without special props or accouterments.
  • Splendor of the Envoy's Protection (•••) Sonja can temporarily reveal her mien to onlookers, without worry about her Clarity - any mortals are dazzled with amazing glory rather than confused or frightened! While this clause is active, Sonja gains effective Striking Looks 6 and cannot be harmed by anyone as long as she is not directly offensive. Supernatural beings, unlike motrals, can make a Resolev + Composure roll before each action to attack anyway. This lasts for one scene. Cameras and other electronic recording devices do not show or record Sonja's true form during this time, and humans either forget or rationalize what they saw after the clause has run its course (but still think of her as striking and impressive).
    • Cost: 3 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Dice Pool: Presence + Wyrd (6 dice)
    • Catch: The clause is invoked at a formal party containing at least a dozen people.
    • Modifiers: ⚠ (:showhide div=box4 init=hide:)
ModifierSituation
+1 to +2The character is wearing exquisite and expensive clothing.
-1 to -2The character is wearing shabby or cheaply made clothing.
-2The character is wearing a visible weapon.
Contracts of Separation 1 (page 40, WM)
  • Tread Lightly (•) Sonja partially removes herself from the effects of Gravity with this clause, gaining the ability to work on any solid material without breaking it or even leaving any real trace of her passage (-2 to tracking rolls). This includes being able to climb things too weak to normally hold her. It also ensures that her falls will be light, as if into a bed of feathers (Falling damage is bashing instead of lethal). Lasts for one scene.
    • Cost: 1 glamour; Action: Instant
    • Dice Pool: Dexterity + Wyrd (7 dice)
    • Catch: The character is wearing fancy and delicate footwear that would be ruined if she did not use this clause.
Contracts of Fleeting Spring 1 (page 149)
  • Cupid’s Eye (•) Sonja can know what anyone's desires are with a little touch of fae magic.
    • Cost: 1 glamour; Action: Contested
    • Dice Pool: Wits + Wyrd (6 dice) - subject’s Composure
    • Catch: The character has kissed the subject within the past 24 hours, or the subject’s object of desire is the character.
    • Modifiers: ⚠ (:showhide div=box5 init=hide:)

  • A Mere Vessel For Loss (•) Sonja gives in to her sorrow, allowing numbness to set in followed swiftly by vitality. Driven by a sense of the inevitable, she doesn't let anything slow her down and can ignore the effects of pain and discomfort. This includes any numerical dice penalties from such, including wound penalties, drowsiness, nausea, etc. This lasts one scene.

Pledges

The Motley Pledge

"I, (name here), do hereby vow to open my heart and my dreaming mind to the other members of my Motley, (names of motley members here). We will stand together through the good times and the bad, sharing all, closer than blood for the next year and a day. So long as I hold true, the blessings of the Motley are mine to share in and I shall grow rich & fat, with the skill to prosper in the world we've been absent from so long. If I should betray this most sacred of bonds, however, wealth shall drip from my fingers like water and the world of man turn against me. So I, (name here), do pledge."

Repeated in turn by all members of Motley, upon joining.
 Type: Vow
Tasks: Greater Alliance (-3,all), Dreaming (-2,all)
Boons: Adroitness (+1,all), Blessing (medial; +2,all), Fast & Easy (+2,all)
Sanction: Poisoning of Boon (-3, both the blessing and adroitness boons)
Duration: Year and a day (+3)
Pledge Notes
  • The Adroitness boon gives members of the Motley +1 to Politics rolls.
  • The Medial Blessing gives members of the Motley two dots of Resources, either right-out or adding to their own merit value.
  • The Fast & Easy boons allows everyone to join each others Dreams without access to the hedge and with no more difficulty than entering their own dreams.

Other Pledges

  • Sonja also has a Dreaming Pledge with Missy Kindley, which is still active for the rest of the month.
  • Sonja had a Oath of Rose and Thorn with Rachel, an old girlfriend. Rachel broke this pledge, and is suffering from its Sanction.
  • Sonja probably has mortal corporeals tied up work days in helping her cases with their problems (getting jobs, court dates, etc).
