Southern Barbarians

the Three Gorges Clan
Hammel, Son of Drannoi: Hammel has long served as the Second to the Chieftain of the Three Gorges Clan, ever since he and the previous chieftain became fast friends on the field of battle as youth. He is known among his people for his excellent judge of character, unbreakable sense of honor and duty, and his unshakable confidence and courage. It then occured that Hammel's old friend and chieftain of the Three Gorges Clan was killed by a soul-sucking beast called "Grimfang" who took control of the clan. Though Hammel did not serve this monster as he had his old friend, he remained in the tribe, lending his strength and integrity to his people.

Now, after Grimfangs defeat, Hammel promises to serve Schuyler with the same devotion and courage..so long as she proves herself a worthy defender of the Andalusi.

Rommel, known as Strongheart: Rommel earned his reputation among the Clans due to his iron hard will and ability to maintain himself in any situation. So solid was his self-control that even the unearthly temptations of Lalliaria, the Dune Maiden, could not take his mind or loosen his grip on his soul. Thus it was that when the Black Beast Grimfang took control of the tribe, the Elders named Rommel his Second, viewing him as the best able to reign in the influence of the beast and keep his people safe. With Grimfangs defeat, Rommel finds himself in a curious position, as many of his people view him with some suspicion.

In addition to his iron will, Rommel is well known for his interest in the stories and myths of the Andalusi. While he is hardly a savant like the elder Kores Whireaxe, he none the less knows more about the old myths than most of the clan.

Other Barbarians
Neki Sandwalker: Neki is the fierce leader of a large clan of the Obsidian Horde, consisting of over 400 fierce desert raiders, their mounts, and families. Each is skilled on horseback, fiercely independent, and at home on the endless dunes -- they have also been roaming further and further south over the past few weeks. Schuyler went out to visit this clan, defeating one of their Guardians and thus earning the right to speak with the Chief. She found him a strong and proud man with the desire to do whatever it took to tend to ensure his people were safe. He was also, however, quite reasonable and had no real problem with suggestions that he'd be better off raiding Paragon, or Chiaroscuro than the lands held by the Rohans.

Nor all she heard from him was so encouraging, however. Something in the Far South, past the plains of black glass and near the source of the Dead River, has been driving many of the oldest and most powerful clans of the Obsidian Horde away from their ancestral lands. Wasting illnesses, monsters that stalk the dunes, and worse threats.
