<Axis> **

<Axis> ***

<Axis> A room. Or perhaps more accurately, a space. White walls, white fllor, white ceiling.

<Axis> Three people are here, lying on the floor.

  • Axis blinks open his eyes.

<Axis> "This... this isn't right."

<Axis> "Someone fucked up. Zi?"

  • Zihiri groans and rolls over, pushing herself up on one elbow. "Ax? Where are we?"

<Axis> "Fucked if I know. I guess this is somewhere in the Tesseract? Someone must have screwed with the insertion..."

  • Axis sits up and puts out a hand to touch a wall. "Huh. Warm."
  • Zihiri scowls. "Shit, what happened to Lazlo? "
  • Axis turns. "He not waked yet? Fuck."

<Zihiri> "No, and... something's wrong. He's not quite solid."

  • Axis gets to his feet and walks over to Lazlo's prone body. He puts a finger /through/ Lazlo's unresisting forehead. "Dead to the Web. Partial upload, I guess? Might need to reboot him."

<Axis> "Hear me, Lazlo?" he shouts. "It's your shitty security coding that means we're in fuck-knows-where, and now I am going to have to reach in and RESTART YOUR BRAIN. I hate it in there, you need to clean up.""

  • Lazlo shakes violently, his form becoming a ghostly blur, then quickly solidifies.

<Lazlo> "Ho-lee-shit, that hurt"

<Axis> "Huh. Welcome to the land of the live, Laz. I'll have to tweak your thoughtmeat another time."

<Axis> "Now what the fuck went wrong with the insertion?"

<Lazlo> "You can tweak my meat anytime, sister.... where the hell are we?"

  • Lazlo looks around

<Zihiri> "Some pocket dimension in the Tesseract, looks like."

<Zihiri> "Shit, Ax... you ARE a woman here. Did you do that on purpose?"

  • Axis looks down. "Oh great. Drifting imago."
  • Axis turns a little red. "DO NOT take this shit as any reflection of the state of my subconcious, all right? This shit is Lazlo's fault."

<Lazlo> "Well, I freely admit that you're currently a reflection of my subconscious. A very good reflection too."

<Zihiri> "Yeah huh. Anyway, I think the point is, our mission is definitely NOT supposed to be in a tiny-ass white box with warm walls."

<Axis> "Fuck you, Laz." says Axis, without real malice.

<Lazlo> "There was a lot of static on the line, probably just got some digits switched around is all"

<Axis> "So what, this is just a holding pattern? Wait it out and we get shifted?"

<Lazlo> "That or we get booted, is my guess. Think of it like call waiting..."

  • Axis spits. "I dunno. I don't like this. You sure the enemy didn't break security? I so do not want to be lunch for a Spider today."
  • Axis shivers.
  • Lazlo flips down a pair of goggles and starts examining the edges of the box/room.

<Lazlo> "I think.. maybe.. we can force... a transition..."

  • Axis examines her gloves, pulling distractedly at the index finger. "Zi? You up for that?"
  • Lazlo motions to Axis.
  • Axis looks at Lazlo and mouths :: What? ::
  • Zihiri shrugs uneasily. "It couldn't happen to us... not like with HIM." She trails off

<Lazlo> "I need your finger for a sec. Stick in the wall right where I'm pointing. Then, unstable code meet corrupted object... and viola!"

<Axis> "Viola, huh? You're an uneducated sack of shit, Laz."

  • Lazlo frowns.

<Axis> "Zi? Gonna need your push on this, kitten."

  • Lazlo kicks the wall.
  • Axis holds out his/her/vir left hand.
  • Lazlo flips his goggles back up.

<Lazlo> "Not sure you want to shove too much juice into this thing..."

  • Lazlo moves back toward the other wall.

<Axis> "Just keep our avs integrated, Laz. We'll be fine. It just takes a little touch..."

<Zihiri> "Alright, hang on." She pulls back her sleeves, exposing a silver-blue bracelet. She twists it two notches to the left and a thread-like ring of light expands concentrically from it. She places her palm against Axis'

  • Lazlo shakes his head and overs his eyes.

<Axis> "Sweet... and... here... goes."

  • Axis touches the spot Lazlo pointed at with an index finger.

<Axis> "Voilą, motherfucker."

  • Axis spreads vir hands wide, indicating the vista around them.
  • Lazlo teeters on the edge of a glass, concrete and steel canyon then regains his balance and quickly steps back.
  • Lazlo whistles.

<Lazlo> "Beats Old Detroit"

  • Lazlo looks around for an access off the rooftop.
  • Axis flips open an access panel nearby and plunges a gloved hand into the circuitry. "Gotta burn the hardwire. I'm still not sure about how secure our line was."

<Lazlo> "Even if it wasn't secure, all that static is going to make it hard to sort out our trajectory."

<Lazlo> "Since I don't rate sitting in on meetings with the big boys and girls, maybe someone can tell me now what our objective is supposed to be?"

<Axis> There's a short burst of static, and then Axis withdraws vir hand.

<Axis> "It's simple enough, Laz."

<Axis> "We're here to steal a Core."
