First Age Incarnation of Jackal

Saeleris

Prehistory

  • The second incarnation of his Exaltation, making Jackal the third. The first incarnation perished early on in the Primordial War, slain by Empyrean on the Slopes of Mount Meru while performing a holding action to protect the Unconquered Sun and allow him to get away to safety.
  • Saeleris himself was a mortal martial artist, of Enlightened Essence, serving in one of the legions under a Dragon-Blooded commander. He Exalted when a Third Circle Demon broke through the ranks for a few moments, and managed to hold off the Nameless Horror (soul of a now-dead Primordial) long enough for more Celestial Exalted to arrive.
  • Fought in numerous battles in the Primordial War, often under the banner of Merela, with whom his previous Exaltation had fought on the slopes of Mount Meru and who had gone on to live where Saeleris's previous Incarnation had been fated to stand and die.
  • One of the Dawn Castes that performed the Culling of the Primordials, turning them into the Yozi, at the end of the Primordial War.

Early First Age

  • Led one of the first war's of the Ochre Fountain period, massing a large army of Terrestrial Exalted and Dragon Kings against the Crimson Fountain and that land's Primordial Kin rulers. While the Daughter's of Sabbadhine had mostly sat out the Primordial War, the humans under their control were subject to the mad whims of their masters and the Dawn and his Lunar Mate were both determined to free them.
  • Fought in numerous other wars, early on in the history of the Mandate of Heaven, assisting his fellow Solar's as a free agent while leaving his Wife to manage things in his conquered territory. In Year 108, fought in the Meru War that established the Solar Deliberative, standing beside the Queen against the nascent Deliberative. After the short four month war, he was one of the first to try to convince Merela to consider the revised proposal.
  • The first Solar to kill another Solar in open warfare, when he slew a fellow Bronze Tiger during the Meru War. The Deliberative attempted to bring him up on charges afterward, but Queen Merela used her power to grant a full pardon, causing a bit of a scandal.
  • Fought against Sabbadhine for a second time, when she returned to power in Year 110, and was instrumental in the binding that locked her away for all time.
  • Participated in the Two Petals Massacre, just outside of Sijan, when the Keepers of the Dead turned against the Solar Deliberative and attempted to resurrect one of the Neverborn back into the world.
The battle, which killed a Behemoth and drove the Keepers of the Dead into virtual extinction, led to some odd developments in the White Whisper Forest and Saeleris was soon appointed Watcher of Sijan to keep an eye over the city. The Dawn did what he could to encourage immigration to Sijan, modifying the cities ancient funerary orders only slightly to fit human sensibilities in the hopes of appeasing the spirits of the dead Keepers.
  • Argued in the Solar Deliberative for greater security along Creation's Rim, and was in the process of building such defenses when the Dissolution War broke out in Year 639. He was one of the first Bronze Tiger's to show up in Creation's Defense, and developed many of the techniques that were used to buy the early successes that ultimately bought Aeas and the Twilight Caste as a whole time to reactivate Khalas Tha and bring the war to it's close.
  • Fought to defend Creation from the Golden Idols, a coalition of Gods tainted by the Neverborn during the Primordial War, in Year 747. In the aftermath of the war, spent well over a hundred years overseeing the Sijanese Funerary Orders in their efforts to correct the damage done to Creation.
  • The Aftershock War, in Year 1107, see's Saeleris live where many of his fellow Bronze Tigers -- including many friends -- fall and meet their end. He ultimately lands the dying blow that kills the Primordial, an experience that -- it is said -- clearly altered him in personality and temprament. He is one of only a few Solar Exalted to have personally slain a Primordial and then lived to tell the tale afterwards.
