Locations of Interest

Coral Castle
One of Miami's public attractions, the Coral Castle is perhaps one of the most mysterious locations in the cities environs. While little outwardly unnatural occurs there, the sheer size and scale of the construction -- made by one man -- boggles the mind and incites the imagination. The Mages of Miami are less intrigued with how Edward Leedskalnin built the Castle, however, than with why the refugee Archmagus built it. Even so, those curious seekers after its mysteries are usually out of luck -- the "Fisher Knights" jealously guard over the castle, only rarely allowing anyone access. A few Mages stealthily seek to investigate the mysteries of the "great work", but if they have found anything, they have not shared.

Mysteries of the Coral Castle

  • Edward Leedskalnin, a secretive Obrimos Archmagus of indeterminate Order, fled from his native Latvia before the start of World War I...but nobody exactly knows why. While it could have simply been the war, most accept that there must have taken more than that to drive an Archmagus from his homeland.
  • Just as interesting as his life, though, is his death -- mortal records list Leedskalnin as having passed away in 1953, but few Mages can actively confirm that. While he is most certainly dead, only a few know the exact circumstances under which he passed from this world.

The Villa Paula
Widely regarded as Miami's Most Haunted House among the popular paranormal culture, this old mansion has a long history and an impressively long list of owners. Once the Cuban Embassy, the hauntings themselves seem distinctly tied to that portion of its history, ranging from ghostly visages of long dead officials to eerie scents and sounds that are distinctly Cuban. In many ways, the Mages are just as engrossed in this mystery as anyone else. While officially under the protection of one of Miami's ghost-hunting Cabals, the Ouji Crew are usually happy to accept other curious Mages' efforts if approached politely.

Mysteries of the Villa Paula

  • What exactly happened during the time when the old mansion served as the Cuban Embassy that left such a powerful impression on the House? Despite the age and long history, the hauntings all confirm to that exact period.

Woodlawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum
While the sleepers regard this Cemetary as they do any other, a somewhat disturbing and mysterious location just because of its very nature, the Mages of Miami have a more concrete reason to look strangely at this resting place for the dearly departed. Sometimes, quite rarely but usually at least once a decade, those interred in the earth don't remain quite so departed. For as long as the Cemetary has been in existance, its occasional residence has clawed its way out of its plot and spent a few weeks or months finishing some vital (and usually violent) task left unfinished from its life. The Mages of Miami have tried to investigate, discovering at the very least that the area possesses some very unusual resonance, but further inquiry is complicated by the fact that a small pack of Werewolves guards over the location quite closely.

Mysteries of Woodland Park Cemetary...

  • What exactly causes the dead to rise, particularly so driven and focused? Some suspect the work of various spirits, while others posit some kind of connection to Stygia, but nobody knows for sure...
  • Just why are the Werewolves so interested in guarding the location? Who are they, and what exactly do they know that they seem so hesistant to share?
