Backgrounds
Artifact **
The Armor of the God-King, called Eglendis?, a beautiful jacket of tough yet supple black material reinforced with polished steel, gold and a small amount of Orichalcum, arranged in a beautiful symbolic image of the Sun. The Jacket serves as effective armor, and fills you with the confidence and poise to more easily deal with unearthly beauty.

Artifact *
The Mantle of the God-King, called Dormesce?, a thin covering of white cloth trimmed with Orichalcum with bright golden thread showing a "rising sun's rays break over the horizon" motif. Powerful enchantments on the Mantle keep you clean and healthy at all times.
Both of these items were recovered by you from the Golden Manse, found in a hidden niche where they had been placed millenia ago by hands unknown. Though you know these items belonged to the "God King", a personage of some importance to the Old Realm's economic structure and overall infrastructure, you are also fairly sure that said person was not your previous incarnation. You suspect that the items might 'belong' to Opal Blossom, in which case, the thieving witch is welcome to try to claim them.

Followers **
You maintain a crew on your merchant vessel of about 20 men, all very efficient at their tasks and loyal to you far beyond any other master (including the Guild). This includes your Wife, who is one of the best pursers you could ask for and handles many details related to provisions, and several of her relatives (with a Cousin serving as Ship's Carpenter, and a Nephew currently serving as Kubernete's Man and your relief).

Mass Combat
Balthasar's Crew are a Magnitude 2 force, with a Drill of 2.

Close Combat Attack- 2 (to attack successes; 1/2 to Parry DV)
Close Combat Damage- 2 (to raw damage)

The group has an Armor rating of +1L. The units' Mobility Penality is -1, and its Fatigue is 2.

The groups Morale is 2, it's Endurance is 5.

Contacts 0
After you left the South, you did not look behind -- you maintain no contact with your family or the nation of your birth and only barely pay attention to rumors of your homeland. You also lost most of your business contacts when you left the Guild, with many of your friends and connections being pushed away as well, leaving you somewhat "out there on your own" in many ways. It hasn't helped that you spent a good portion of the last year chasing through the Hundred Kingdoms looking for the Golden Manse.

Resources ***
Even without your association with the Guild, you remain a prosperous independent trader with fair savings and even a bit of property that you and your wife own in Nulam. Most of your monetary worth, however, is taken up in the care and feeding of your crew -- and, of course, your ship. You enjoy the spartan existance this gives you, however.
