MINI 6 - Jackal duels Bright Mane
Jackal recovering his weapon from the spin he just parried with he continues to spin it, his spear crackling with essence, a spinning carona of yellow essence letting off a massive ammount of heat as it sizzles through the air, he spins the spear in for a strike at Bright'Mane's flank!
Bright Mane smiles thinly, as he spots the combo, unleashing his own will and seeming to move faster than the eye can follow, his sword and his own frame a blurry image that cannot quite be followed...
Bright Mane ::Bright Mane erupts in a glowing corona of Silver Light, flowing and cascading around him, leaving contrails of silver essence with his every motion!::
Bright Mane -- swords slice against swords, motion against motion, silver against gold --
Bright Mane -- though he can only barely /SEE/ the Lunar, none the less, Jackal's blow slices through his defense --
Jackal parrying blow after blow he finaly lands a blow, stabbing into the lunars flank with the hissing spearpoint before he spins away, gloating about a hit is a sure way of recieving one of your own...
Bright Mane does, indeed, continue his attack -- moving, still, with all consuming speed and the blurring contrails of Silver Essence! The moonsilver sword slashes out so quickly that it looks almost like two blows, and in fact IS two blows, light blows aimed at either side of the warriors' body.
Jackal deflects the two blows, by simply thrusting his spear forward horizontaly suddenly, kicking up dirt from the bleached ground as he goes at maddening speeds.
Bright Mane stands there, as his essence settles down and his impressive speed settles into a single motion... He grins widely at you, reaching down to his shoulder, touching the blood there even as the wound begins to slowly close on its own part.
Bright Mane "First blood to you," he notes. "You are /quite/ good," he notes, some respect in his voice.
Bright Mane continues to circle you, though... Not QUITE ready to yield.
Jackal continues to circle, spear pointed downward, his stance guarded. "I try..."
Jackal leaps forward mid-circle, bodily throwing himself with the spear towards Brightmane, the Viper of his anima hissing and striking as he does, ending the spear thrust with a swift kick to his abdomen.
Bright Mane slices away from the attack, bringing his sword up to block it, but he wasn't expecting your raw skill and ability -- you quickly adjust, sliding under his guard, bringing your spear-point under his rib.
Bright Mane grimaces as the spear digs in, reaching down, and pulling it out with a wet schlicking sound. He glances down at it, and then over at you.
Bright Mane clearly doesn't want to, but eventually just nods...
Bright Mane "We could continue this, but you are clearly a strong warrior, and I believe you've proven that to me."
Bright Mane "What do you call that manuever you unleashed? Where your spear burns gold?"
haren nods slightly in respect to Bright Mane for admitting defeat in the face of such a strong opponent
Jackal nods and stands his spear at his side. "Ah, the Piercing Sun Strike. A technique of my own design."
Bright Mane 's wounds begin to heal, with some speed, as he stands there and recovers...
Bright Mane just nods slightly.
Bright Mane "I will remember it."
Jackal smirks to himself and nods. "I'll keep that in mind then. Interesting sword you've got there."
Bright Mane smiles softly, and nods.
Bright Mane "It is the Quicksilver Needle," he notes. "A fine and strong blade."
Bright Mane brings it up to his lips, and kisses it lightly, before replacing it on his back.
Bright Mane ponders something for a bit, as he continues to heal, before eventually nodding...
Bright Mane "Very well; I have yielded to your prowess. If you wish it, you may request a boon."
Jackal thinks for a moment on it.
Jackal glances to Merayen and Balthasar for advice...thinking he has something in mind but not sure if that will upset any far reaching plan of theirs...
haren shakes her head, knowing that Jackal must make this choice on his own as the rightful winner of the duel.
Balthasar folds his arms. He simply watches Jackal.
Balthasar knows nothing he could say would seem right to the Lunar, if Jackal merely took input, turned back and repeated it verbatim. Best to say nothing.
Jackal shrugs. "Stop your agression to Nulam and I think we'll be even."
Bright Mane grins and laughs.
Bright Mane "Very well;" he notes, with a smile. "I will not lead my warriors against your village. Though you should know that I am but one threat, even among my People. If you want to keep your village strong, I would advise you to /make/ it strong."
Bright Mane "Even so great a warrior as you cannot defend weak innocents yourself."
haren raises her mask. "It shall be strong by the time the next threat comes, fear not that."
Bright Mane glances at Merayen, then, for a bit -- his eyes narrow, but he nods, understand a bit more of her strongly worded defense of Lookshy earlier. Not merely a citizen or a soldier, then... He might have guessed.
Bright Mane gestures,
Bright Mane "Come; it is not much, but let me show you to a place within the Caer where you may rest."
Bright Mane "We have prepared a feast for you!"
Bright Mane laughs!
Balthasar Have you now?
Balthasar rises smoothly to his feet.
haren nods and smiles, a sight rarely seen. "Your hospitality was guessed at, but I thank you for it. I have my suspicions as to why you have a feast ready in part."
Jackal smirks. "Well it'll be a vast improvement from the demon pit." Wipes his spear tip off on the grass...can't walk into a man's house with his blood on your blade...bad manners.
haren closes her helm again, obscuring her face once more and starts to lead Jackal's horse back to him.
Bright Mane "Are your people so unforgiving of your scars that you must hide them?"
Bright Mane says that, as gently as he can, to Merayen.
haren shakes her head. "I wear it in part for such reasons, and in part to hide my identity. I find that... my name has become somewhat known, and it's embaressing to me. What I do, I do to help others, not for glory or my name spoken of with reverence."
Bright Mane just nods softly.
Bright Mane "Your other reasons are your own, though they are of no concern in this place. As for the first, you should know that you gained your scars in the defense of the people of the East. If they are now uncomfortable with you because of them, that is their concern, not yours."
Balthasar adds, "She is quite a benefactor. She was called the Maimed Goddess by those she helped. Admirable, but, really, quite rude of them."
haren blushes under her armor, the redness showing on her neck. "Yes, I've never liked that name, nor the... way I'm treated by those people. They're good people, but they think I'm more than I truely am."
Bright Mane "Men are hungry for a taste of the divine, and especially for any that would intercede in their behalf. It is sad, but not to be unexpected."
haren nods, "It seems that you too suffer from such problems. We knew not your name except that you were called the Silver God."
haren It was the Iron Mandarin that told us your name. We heard that you also did battle with him.
haren But, you're right... I'll dress more appropriately for the feast when we are in the city.
Bright Mane "Indeed; he was a strong opponent, yet a graceful one. He could likely have killed me, if he'd desired it."
Bright Mane nods to Merayen, and smiles.
Bright Mane "I am glad to hear that,"
