MISATI PRELUDE 3

ST ::Masati had been in the village of Nulam several months. It was even beginning to grow on her a bit, though a certain awareness that something had been taken from her was still quite strong in her mind.::

ST ::The chores and tasks of the season passed, and eventually, the time came for Second Harvest. She worked in the fields with the rest of them, and at the end of the long tasks, she drank and danced with the people of the Village at the Harvest Festival -- pretending that she belonged, wishing that she truly did.::

ST ::Then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a figure -- separated from the rest, a wain beautiful figure with corn-yellow hair and gentle green eyes, the Goddess whom the Village so venerated...::

Misati turned towards the Goddess and slowly made her way through the crowd of people, to her

Mun smiles, moving through her people, who reverently make way and offer her respect and praise for the bountiful crop! Her face is proud, her bearing motherly... Then, she comes face to face with young Masati, and her eyes focus slightly..

Mun "Aaaah," she says, softly. "I had heard that one of your nature had come to rest among the Nulami. Walk with me a ways,"

Mun gestures, and continues on.

Misati nods curiously and follows beside her waiting to hear what she has to say

Mun "I have heard that you remember nothing of your life, past when you arrived here?" she asks.

Mun ::Curious. That best describes your reactions to standing here, next to a Goddess. Not amazed, awed or even frightened. It barely registers to you that you should be...::

Misati nods "That is true. The best I seem to manage are dreams that make no sense"

Mun "Dreams? Of you, or someone else?"

Misati looks confused "I'm not sure..both maybe"

Mun "Do you know what you are?"

Misati "Well Madaska called me 'Exalt' but other then whispered rumors I have no idea what that means"

Mun "You have been blessed with the power of the Unconquered Sun," she informs you, carefully. "The greatest of the Gods, leader of the Heavenly City of Yu-Shan. In the dawn before time, the Gods granted those like you dominion over the Earth."

Misati looks a the Goddess in shock tinged with just a tiny bit of horror. "You can't be serious....me?"

Mun "Not you; all of your kind, the Solar Exalted. However, yes -- your kind stood as stewards over the wonders of the First Age."

Mun "Then your predecessors grew corrupt."

Misati "Why was there a reason other then having phenominal power?"

Mun "Is power not reason enough?"

Mun "Power, long life, the indulgence of the Gods. Who can say?"

Mun "But regardless; the Dragon-Blooded rose up, and tore down the Old Realm. The world languished, falling into this pitiable state."

Mun "And now your power, that of the True Kings of Creation, has returned to the World."

Mun "I would imagine that makes more than a few very uncomfortable, wouldn't you?"

Misati pauses for a moment "Yes it would. So where has this power been all this time?"

Mun "Waiting, I would imagine," she notes. "Laying dorment, hiding in the secret places, waiting for when its time had come again."

Misati "So why...I mean what's different now that wasn't there, say, a hundred years ago?"

Misati (oops why now)

Mun ponders that for a bit.

Mun "I am merely a humble goddess of fertile fields, so who can truly say?" She pauses for a bit, and right before you're about to ask more, she interjects, "but it could be any number of reasons. The disappearance of the Scarlet Empress, the coming of the Deathlords..."

Mun "I'd suggest the real question is -- now that you have been given this power, what are you going to do with it?"

Misati blinks and thinks for a moment "I don't know. The Solars failed spectatularly at running things the first. Who would be fool enough to want them to do it again? Good Lord, I can't even manage being in charge of the tavern for a night."

Mun laughs.

Mun "You are more capable than you think."

Mun "Though perhaps not at running taverns."

Mun smiles at you.

Misati nods "Well what are Solars supposed to...I mean when they aren't screwing up running the world that is"

Mun "That is one question that I cannot answer," she notes. "Maybe, however, I can help you to find an answer of your own."

Mun pauses for a bit, almost as if for dramatic reasons. Gods; they can be annoying at times.

Misati glares off in the distance "I was afraid you were going to say somthing like that"

Mun "Tonight," she suggests, "Journey this evening, upon the midnight hour, to the farmstead of Aelymon Tilver. There you might find some part of what you seek."

Misati looks over at Mun suspiciously "and what might that be?"

Mun is gone when you turn to look at her, having left behind the odor of freshly harvested wheat.

Misati glares at where she was standing 'damn!' she mutters. She heads back to town to kill time until she needs to leave to go to the farmstead
