Thematics: Sometimes, the Elemental Dragon of Wood hunts. The many boons and gifts of Sextes Jylis have allowed life to flourish on the face of Creation, but the Dragon's attention is not always benign nor is Wood a wholly benevolent Element. Life is an often vicious struggle, where even plants kill one another to secure nutrients and sunlight for themselves. For the Dragon-Blooded, this destructive side of their element is best represented through the guise of the Hunt and the implements of Bow and Arrow. Like their Patron, the Dragon-Blooded hold the right to take away that which they helped to cultivate.
Leaf on the Wind
Cost: 2m; Mins: Archery 1, Essence 1; Type: Supplemental Keywords: Combo-OK, Root Duration: Instant Prerequisite Charms: None
Wood is one element in harmony with all others; nourished by Earth, Water, and Air, but controlled by Fire. The Dragon-Blooded may use this charm to exercise this Balance of the Elements with his ranged attacks, making a single Archery or Thrown attack out to the maximum range of his weapon without penalty. For most weapons, this value is equal to three times the listed range.
If this charm is used to supplement an attack on a target within the weapons listed range, that attack receives a single bonus success on the attack roll. This charm may explicitly be comboed with Thrown charms.
Swallow Defends the Nest
Cost: 1m per arrow; Mins: Archery 2, Essence 2; Type: Extra Action Keywords: Combo-OK Duration: Instant Prerequisite Charms: Leaf on the Wind
The Exalt and his bow become one, each motion as effortless as drawing or expelling breath. This Charm provides a magical flurry of one Archery-based attack per mote spent, limited by the normal rate of the bow being used. A bow with an Infinite rate is treated as Rate 5 for this purpose, plus any modifiers from Charms or Channels. All attacks are made at the Dragon-Blooded's full dice pool, and the Flurry has a DV penalty equal to the highest penalty of any one attack.
Heartwood of the Ancient Grove
Cost: –; Mins: Archery 3, Essence 2; Type: Permanent Keywords: None Duration: N/A Prerequisite Charms: Any Archery Excellency
The connection between a Dragon-Blooded and his bow is deep, almost like the connection between the Exalt and his foot. Just like the Dragon-Blooded's foot benefits from his Exalted constitution, so does the Terrestrial's bow. When the character is using any bow that he Owns, the Dragon-Blooded increases his maximum range band to x4, allowing him to make attacks at targets up to four times the listed range at a -2 penalty. He also adds +1 to the Maximum Strength of any bow he owns, or a similar amount to the Additional Damage granted by a Jade Powerbow. Lastly, the character lowers the Speed of the Ready Weapon action by 1 when applying it to an applicable bow.
Bow of Living Jade
Cost: –; Mins: Archery 4, Essence 3; Type: Permanent Keywords: Channel Duration: N/A Prerequisite Charms: Heartwood of the Ancient Grove
This Charm allows the Dragon-Blooded to reduce the commitment cost of a Jade Powerbow by 1. Wood Aspected Dragon-Blooded who are commiting Powerbow's of Green Jade shave an additional mote off their commitment cost for a total discount of 2.
Channel: (0m) The Dragon-Blooded raises the Minimum Strength of his Jade Powerbow to 25 for as long as he maintains this Channel. It retains its normal Minimum Strength for the character.
Grace of the Wood Dragon
Cost: 1m; Mins: Breeding 1, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental Keywords: Combo-OK, Poison Duration: Instant Prerequisite Charms: None
One of five Charms known to the Dragon-Blooded as the "Five Elemental Graces", this charm allows the Dragon-Blooded to focus the wrath of Sextes Jylis through his weapon and enhance the potency of his attack with the raw power of Elemental Wood. An attack enhanced with this Charm delivers a dose of poison if it hits with: Damage 4L/action, Toxicity (Exalt's Essence rating), Penalty -0. Only one use of this charm can enhance a given attack, but repeated use can enhance any number of attacks in a flurry.
Upon purchase, all five Elemental Grace Charms are considered linked and are the same charm for the purposes of Charm activations and Combos. They even work together, to some degree. If the character knows more than one of the Graces, he can enhance an attack with multiple elements at a reduced cost. This costs a number of motes equal to half the number of elements applied to the attack. This charm can explicitly be put in a combo with Charms of other Abilities.
