A small lexicon of words from New Beginnings

  • Warlord, as the term is used in the Hundred Kingdoms, refers to the leader of an army not directly affiliated with one of the regions Kingdoms. Most Warlords lead what amount to overgrown insurrections, bandit armies, renegade military units, or even the surviving armies of conquered kingdoms. The Hundred Kingdoms is also home to a number of independent armies that are led by Warlords.
  • Bandit Prince is a term used for any Warlord that conquers a City-State or larger Kingdom and slows down his pace of conquest. Many of the nations of the Hundred Kindgom are ruled by Bandit Princes, with only the most successful of such leaders actually leaving a lasting impression upon the region. It is rare in the extreme for the reign of any Bandit Prince to last beyond his own death. Many don't even last that long.
  • Fortress City refers to one of four mighty cities of the Hundred Kingdoms, which still boast their impressive First Age fortifications. Three of these cities remain intact: the Mhourning Spire, Gharos, and Athana. The fourth Fortress City once lay within the regions Wyld Zone, though its exact location and name are debated upon by Savants.
