The Damned Lariníen, Herald of the Lightbringer, maintains one of the largest contiguous structures within Hell, the Hall of Records. While it serves the expected function as a place of torment, suffering and pain that one would expect of any location within Hell, it's main purpose is actually that of record-keeping. Specifically, Lariníen maintains a record of all the sins of every damned soul to enter Hell and most of the many acts of horror and depravity that the hellbound witness in the worlds above: though due to volume alone an action has to be quite impressive to be enshrined in Lariníen's Library.

The Fallen Angel rules over her little kingdom with the aide of many damned souls, who are pressed into her service and try their best to avoid attracting too much of her attention while fulfilling their duties, and several breeds of demons who more or less consider her their queen and mistress. She's always been one for conservative dress, but has lately taken to wearing a thin pair of spectacles on her nose and her hair in a long bun, adopting the demeanor of a "evil Librarian" while she guides her domain or even when she tours the Earth. Exactly why she does this is not generally known.

Less corrupted than many of her fellows (excepting only Lucifer), Lariníen retains strong memories of Heaven and of her purer nature. This is due at least in part to the influence of her long-time friend and Lover, Haniel, whose friendship blossomed into a full-blown love affair some centuries before the Fall. Each was a close associate and student of the Lightbringer, though Haniel's service was necessarily curtailed by her duties to help maintain the Tree of Life that Lucifer had designed to assist in spreading Heaven's Grace throughout Creation. Often their time together was spent nearly as much in exploration of shared philosophy as in more intimate moments; it was only with the discovery of Hell that they suffered a disagreement. Unable to properly express to her Lover the enthusiasm she felt for the Realm she had visited (and which Haniel could not), their moments together were marred for the first time by petty argument over the viewpoints catalyzed in those Angels that had seen that fiery realm.

Yet the true test for their love came during the calamitous events of the Fall, and there Larinien damned herself by forsaking the oneness and solidarity she had forged with her Love in favor of remaining loyal to the philosophy that she had helped to shape and to its firmest proponent: Lucifer, the Lightbringer himself. But! Haniel's love (as everything else about her) is eternal. It cannot be broken, not even by choice nor by the very fires of Hell. Their relationship is not easy, and much of that difficulty lies on Larinien's part, but Haniel will never abandon her and that knowledge has been a strength in her heart on many occasions.

The Damned.
