Dailas - the Smithing Hammer

Level Three Artifact
Orichalcum Goremaul

The most obvious feature of the mighty Dailas is it's huge broad head of slightly a slightly-dull Golden Sheen, a massive square block of bronze-and-orichalcum alloy. The hammer's head would weight over a ton were it not for the massive amounts of Essence that reduce its weight and allow it to be wielded gracefully, but even so, Dailas appears as an unwieldy monster. A single Hearthstone setting rests on the side of the hammer, while an ornate Old Realm symbol on the striking surface marks its name. The long handle of the hammer is of a thick white wood, the grip wrapped with hard thick leather culled from the body of some long-dead beast.

Despite it's intimidating appearance, Skyla knows full well that she wields not a weapon of war. Dailas was created for a singular purpose by her last incarnation, the great Sorcerer-Smith Aeas, that of hammering raw Orichalcum into proper shape. Any mortal tool would melt under the intense heat, or crack under the horrible pressures, and any lesser wonder would surely not last long under the circumstances to which Aeas subjected her tools.

Despite it's "official" purpose, Skyla has found the massive hammer quite adequate at busting heads as well as striking the anvil. She can only imagine how potent Aeas' war-hammer must have been...

In addition to the statistics listed above, Dailas acts as a Perfect tool for any Craft (Fire) rolls that involve smithing or the use of a forge, giving +2 dice to such rolls. The weapon is even more indestructable than most artifacts, almost impossible to break without Essence 6+ Celestial effects, and able to withstand any amount of punishment or the worst conditions imaginable. Lastly, the Hammer was designed to work one of the toughest materials known to the Exalted. When used against inanimate objects or structures, Dailas does lethal piercing damage and increases its raw damage by 1 after any hit in which it fails to do damage. This bonus damage is cumulative, but disappears after damage has been inflicted or if you stop attacking the same target.

Dailas was also constructed to resonate exceptionally well with the Hearthstone of Aeas' Factory-Manse, whose exactly location has sadly been lost to time. If that stone is socketed within the hammer, the weilder gains 12 motes per hour instead of the normal eight.

The orichalcum bonuses have already been factored into the above statistics. If not fully harmonized, reduce the weapons Accuracy, and Defense to +1 and its Rate to 2. This weapon is Piercing, halving Bashing Soak from armor (round down), and Overpowering, rolling 4 dice of minimum damage or the users Essence (whichever is higher). This weapon must be strapped to ones back to be effectively carried.
