Dragon-Blooded Resistance

Thematics: The Elemental Dragon of Earth is as unmovable, and unalterable, as the Imperial Mountain itself. The Element of Earth is itself the solid foundation upon which Creation rests, and though it is chipped away at and shaped over time by the actions of others, that change is a slow laborious process and always the Earth itself remains. The Dragon-Blooded share that quality, being solid and resolute, shaped by their environment only slowly and with patient effort.

Ox-Body Technique

Cost: --; Mins: Resistance 1, Essence 1; Type: Permanent
  Keywords: Root, Stackable
  Duration: N/a
  Prerequisite Charms: None

The Dragon-Blooded have a life force so strong, so vibrant, that great effort is required to extinguish it. This charm gives the Dragon-Blooded additional health levels. The Exalt may purchase this charm once per point of Resistance, or per dot of Essence, whichever is higher. Each purchase gives one -1 health level, one -2 health level and an additional Dying health level.

Enduring Stone Meditation

Cost: 1m+; Mins: Resistance 1, Essence 1; Type: Simple (Speed 3, DV -0)
  Keywords: Combo-OK, Channel, Root
  Duration: Indefinite
  Prerequisite Charms: None

While Man has a thousand frailties, the Earth cares for naught but the shaping hand of time. A Dragon-Blooded with this charm can mimic this quality, gaining one of the below effects when first purchasing this charm and the ability to purchase additional effects for a reduced rate. When activating this charm, the Terrestrial spends 1m per effect he wishes to activate (up to a maximum of his Essence in effects), and enjoys the benefits described below until he cancels the charm. If the Dragon-Blooded desires, he may end effects prematurely or fill vacant slots with new effects as a Channel. Ending an effect is free, while adding a new effect to this charm costs the normal 1m, which is committed until either the charm or that effect is ended.

  • Unsleeping Earth Meditation: The Dragon-Blooded adds her (Essence) to the number of days she can go without sleep before suffering sleep deprivation, as described on page 129 of the Exalted Corebook. In addition, the character will never fall asleep without her meaning to so long as the Dragon-Blooded has any temporary willpower remaining at all. After a night without sleep, the character rolls his Conviction at dawn. Each success regains 1 willpower.
  • Untiring Earth Meditation: The Dragon-Blooded adds his (Essence) to the total number of hours of strenuous activity he can engage in before accumulating cumulative fatigue penalties. So long as the the Terrestrial's feet are touching the Earth, he may also spend one willpower to eliminate all fatigue penalties, though this gains him a blanket -1 exhaustion penalty to all actions that cannot be lowered through any means except rest. This penalty doesn't stack with a fatigue or deprivation penalty. Each hour of sleep, or three hours of rest, reduces this exhaustion penalty by 1 until it has vanished entirely.
  • Uneating Earth Meditation: The Dragon-Blooded suffers no penalties for going without food until her (Stamina + Resistance + Essence) days have passed, at which point she begins to accumulate penalties normally as listed on page 129 of the Exalted Corebook. If the character can receive even a pittance of food, however, the above number can be quadrupled. The character may also safely go without water for (Essence) days before accumulating penalties, and may similarly extend this time provided she can get a few drops each day.
  • Unbreathing Earth Meditation: The Dragon-Blooded may hold her breathe for (Stamina x [Essence]) minutes while channeling this effect, plus [Essence] minutes per success on a (Stamina + Resistance) roll. No combination of effects will ever increase the difficulty for this roll above 1. After this limit has been reached, however, the character still suffers one level of unsoakable bashing levels every thirty seconds and this damage cannot be healed until the character is once again breathing normally. The character will not fall unconscious due to lack of breathe, however. He can keep acting until the damage kills him.

The above are not the only possible expressions of this charm; the Players are invited to attempt to discover additional uses of this charm. Each effect beyond the first, either the ones listed above or new ones discovered by the Storyteller, cost 5xp each or 6xp if Resistance is not Aspect or Favored. At character creation, every two effects beyond the first counts as one charm for the purposes of buying additional effects with bonus points.

Unfeeling Earth Meditation

  Cost: 2m (1wp); Mins: Resistance 2, Essence 3; Type: Simple (Speed 3, DV -1)
  Keywords: Combo-Basic, Draconic(Water)
  Duration: One scene
  Prerequisite Charms: Enduring Stone Meditation

The Earth Dragon sleeps, taking him far away from the world of material needs. A Dragon-Blooded with this charm can join him in this other word free of pain and want, with the activation of this Charm allowing him to become immune to all internal penalties from Fatigue, Wounds, and Deprivation for the remainder of the Scene. The Dragon-Blooded still accumulates such penalties at the normal rate, and suffers all normal consequences of accumulating such penalties except for actually suffering them. If any of these penalties would render him unconscious, or actually kill him, however, the Dragon-Blooded can delay this for up to (Essence) actions by spending one Willpower each action. He may explicitly use this power while Dying, but while doing so the character takes an internal penalty equal to the number of Dying levels filled with damage and takes one unsoakable lethal level each action. This damage cannot be resisted in any means, and the Dragon-Blooded cannot stabilize his wounds while acting through the aegis of this channeled power.

Impervious Skin of Stone

Cost: 1m per 2 soak; Mins: Resistance 1, Essence 2; Type: Simple
  Keywords: Combo-OK, Channel, Purity(1)
  Duration: Indefinite
  Prerequisite Charms: Enduring Stone Meditation

The Dragon-Blooded suffuses his skin and bones with Essence, giving it the toughness of unyielding stone itself without losing any of her normal flexibility or sacrificing the ability to wear armor. Each mote spent increases the Dragon-Blood's bashing and lethal soak by 2, to a maximum number of motes spent equal to the Terrestrial's Essence. This soak is compatible with armor, but is weak against Essence and does not apply to damage inflicted by sorcery or attacks enhanced with damage-enhancing Charms unless reinforced with a Channel.

Channel (Cost: +1m per 2 soak reinforced): This channel must be activated while activating Impervious Skin of Stone, with each mote spent on the channel reinforcing 2 dots of the charm-enhanced soak. Any reinforced soak is proof against Essence, and cannot be bypassed by charms or sorcery.

Grace of the Earth Dragon

Cost: 1m; Mins: Resistance 0, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
  Keywords: Combo-OK, Knockback, Purity(1)
  Duration: Instant
  Prerequisite Charms: None

One of five Charms known to the Dragon-Blooded as the "Five Elemental Graces", this charm allows the Dragon-Blood to focus the wrath of Pasiap through his weapon and enhance the potency of his attack with the raw power of Elemental Earth. An attack enhanced with this Charm inflicts a further +1 base weapon damage, and hits the target with the strength of a landslide, shattering the ground at the target's feet and pulling him down to the ground at the Dragon-Blooded's feet. The target must make a Knockdown roll ([Dexterity or Stamina] + [Athletics or Resistance]), with a difficulty of (1 + Dragon-Blooded's Essence). On a failure the target is prone at the Dragon-Blooded's feet so infused with Earth essence that he must take a non-flurry-able Miscellaneous action to rise to his feet. The ground around the target is also savaged and uneven, and imposes a -1 penalty to all rolls until the target moves to more stable footing.

Mountain Toppling Method

Cost: 4m; Mins: Resistance 1, Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
  Keywords: Combo-OK
  Duration: One action
Prerequisite Charm: Grace of the Earth Dragon

When the sleeping dragon stirs, the earth heaves. A Dragon-Blooded using this charm borrows some of Pasiap's unbounded strength, and can similarly cost the Earth and all things connected to it to stir. For one action, the Dragon-Blooded's Strength increases by 5. This bonus Strength only applies for the purpose of lifting, handling or inflicting damage upon stone or earthen objects such as doing masonry work, hurling fallen pillars, punching your way through a marble wall, or slamming a giant jade weapon into the face of one of the Anathema. "Attacking with a Jade-alloy weapon" is always considered an acceptable use of this charm, and the Strength bonus applies to the damage inflicted with such attacks. This charm is explicitly permitted to be placed in Combo's with the Charms of other abilities.

Strength of Many Dragons

  Cost: 4m+, 1wp; Mins: Resistance 0, Essence 3; Type: Simple (Speed 6, DV -2)
  Keywords: Draconic(All), Form-type, Obvious, Purity(3)
  Duration: One scene
Prerequisite Charms: Grace of the Earth Dragon

The Elemental Dragon's are known as creatures of great physical puissance. This strength is shared by their lesser brethtren, the Lesser Elemental Dragons, and it can be attained as well by their inheritors. The Dragon-Blooded attain this strength via the purchase of this Charm, with a different variant available for each of the Elemental Dragon's as listed below. The Terrestrial may purchase this charm a total number of times equal to his (Essence - 2), to a maximum of five purchases by the time he reaches Essence 7. The first purchase provides the stat bonus listed below, with each additional purchase adding +1 to both Strength and Stamina, and the third and fifth purchase giving additional bonuses as mentioned below.

This charm is activated as a Simple action, costing 3m plus 1m for each purchase of this charm (including the first purchase), and 1 willpower. Once activated the Dragon-Blooded gains the above attribute modifiers for the remainder of the Scene or until the Charm is canceled. These bonuses count as natural bonuses to the enhanced attributes, and do not count toward dice-adder limits. While this charm is active, the Dragon-Blooded also favors the Virtue of his own Aspect Dragon (or any Virtue, for Daana'd) and the influence of that virtue is greater than it might otherwise be. For so long as this charm is active, the Dragon-Blooded cannot act against the Virtue even with the expenditure of Willpower. If he wishes to do so, he must first drop this charm and then cannot reactivate it for one day. After purchasing this charm four times, the Dragon-Blooded must pick a second virtue that influences him just as strongly.
