On the corner of Carlton and Beacon Street, between the St. Mary's and Hawes Street Stations on the Green Line, Jordan's Diner is something of a city landmark (featured in many tour guides, and all the good ones). Popular with everyone from college students and tourists to many of the locals, the Diner benefits greatly from its position near Fenway Park and more universities than you can shake a stick at, from Boston University by the Charles River to the Harvard Medical School just across the fens. Made popular due to its amazing ice cream and distinctive "Retro 50s" theme, the Diner served an excellent breakfast menu, an even better Lunch, and had milkshakes, milk smoothies and a dozen kinds of pie in addition its bowls of ice cream. One can often meet the famous "Jordan" working behind the counter, her name gracing the large glass window in huge glossy letters, and even when she's not working in front the rest of the staff is both friendly and hard-working. The jingling of the tiny bell atop the door is a common sound at all hours, and unlike some other popular Boston restaurants, there is rarely a line to get in. Though overflow onto the outdoor tables in front of the diner is reasonably common during the lunch hour.
In addition to its reputation among the city at large, Jordan's Diner is also a popular meeting spot for the Trimountain Society Freehold and its Spring Court. The constant buzz of young college students and noisy tourists provides a bit of privacy when its busy, and the Diner offers numerous comfortable secluded spots when the crowd things out, to say nothing of the back rooms that are often opened up for "official business." Most of Jordan's staff is quite aware of their bosses additional loyalties, and few people are hired that Jordan doesn't think would be able to keep a secret or handle being ensorcelled. Not all of the staff is exposed to the existence of fae, mind you, but many are due to what else lurks in the back rooms of the diner in addition to "secret Freehold meetings."
The Diner has a rear door, leading out behind the building. It's always kept locked, and only really used by senior staff when they need to take out the trash. Employees are generally expected to park along back and walk around to the front door. This is because the rear doorway is an active gateway. More than that, though, its a gateway with a key that's relatively easy for anyone to accidentally stumble upon. All you have to do is open the door, glance behind you as if distracted, then walk through the doorway without turning wholly back around and you've fumbled your way into the Hedge. Even with explicit warnings from Jordan, a few employees have disappeared via wandering through the gateway accidentally, and Jordan was only able to find and retrieve one of them (whom she laid off).
