Luminary Figures

Science:

  • Dr. Rachel Alinski - (Nova) Head of R&D for the De Vries? corporation. Most of her published work in chemistry, robotics and applied physics focuses on weapons and military applications. She has recently begun to shift her interest towards Nanotechnology.
  • Dr. Spencer Balmer (Antaeus) - See Environmentalism
  • Dr. Chalondra Hammersmith - (Daredevil) Chief researcher with the Triton Foundation, the scientific think-tank founded simultaneously with Project Utopia as a compliment to that agency's humanitarian work. She is renouned both for her work on breakthroughs like the AIDS vaccine and for her more controversial Z-Wave theory (which attempts to unify scientific understanding of Quantum and Noetic energies by postulating that the two are wave-forms of so-called "Telluric" energy, together with a third, as-yet unvarified form she dubs "Serendipity").
  • Mungu Kuwasha - (Psion) The first Luminary every hired for scientific applications by a corporation (Microsoft, less than a year before their merger with Viacom into Viasoft). Kuwasha is the architect of the modern Op Net? and the world's leading authority in the field of computation.
  • Bodhisattva Masato - (Exalt) The founder, leader, and incarnate diety of Kamisama Buddhism, a sect that has gained near majority in Japan and risen to prominence in several South-East Asian countries (as well as Australia, New Zealand, and several islands of the South Pacific). He is also a leading authority in all aspects of applied Physics and material science. His wide array of patents are licensed to Kuro-Tek and a few other Japanese corporations.
  • Enriche Meludos - (Nova) A former janitor and current star Luminary of the NYU science department. Meludos is young and outspoken, both in his chosen fields and out of them. He is compared to Einstein (at his age) both as a compliment and as an insult. He alternates his research and publication time between medicine and theoretical physics.

Buisness/Philanthropy:

  • Ana De Vries? - (Nova) See Entertainment/Celebrity
  • Fair-Spoken Rishi - See Extraterrestrials
  • Wilhelm Peron Lehrder - (Status unknown, presumed Baseline) A Colombian buisnessman, social reformer and now President, tracing his ancestry to Argentina's famous Juan Peron. Lehrder gained public acclaim in Colombia by building a national school system which was free to the public but entirely privately funded. His party Movimiento Latino Nacional went from the political fringe to control of the legislature and executive in the span of three elections. Rumors of connections to cocaine trafficing continue to dog Lehrder in the international press, but at home, he is something of a national saint.
  • Raoul Orzaiz - (Daredevil) Count of Monaco, billionaire playboy, philanthropist, critic of Utopia and key contributor (along with Sophia Rousseau and Dr. Worm) of the so-called "Aberrant Agenda".
  • Rangda - See Oceanian/South-East Asian Figures
  • Pedro Santiago (The Mathematician) - (Psion) This CEO of CORE International and public proponent of the Teragen ethos has been investigated (unsuccesfully) for insider trading 15 times in 5 years.
  • Vladimir Sierka - (Nova) The Minister of the Treasury for the Russian Confederation, widely held to be the secret (or not-so secret) architect of that supra-national body's emergence in 2001. Believed to be the greatest Luminary economist in the world.
  • Rick Tiger - See Entertainment/Celebrity

Entertainment/Celebrity:

  • Alejandra Maria Magdalena Carranza - (Nova) The #1 selling Novox (Luminary recording artist) star the world over. She holds most of the world records that involve singing and voice. She also has her own line of clothes and has starred in a few schlocky movies.
  • Andre Corbin (Bender) - (Daredevil) Former Team Tomorrow member, one-time porn star, current member of non-traditional policy-group The Aberrants. Despite his reputation as a hothead, Corbin continues to find occasional starring work in big-budget films, proving (along with Narcosis) that Luminary celebrity is sufficient to ignore the "taint" of hardcore pornography.
  • Angela de la Cruz (Narcosis) - (Nova) Adored by millions, Narcosis is the most popular member of the Teragen next to Divis Mal himself, and by far the most public. She heads the Pandaimonion, the social/celebrity faction of the Teragen. She has a media empire that licenses all Teragen merchandise and has been the star of multiple reality TV series, feature films and several productions labeled "pornographic".
  • Ana De Vries? - (Nova) The CEO of the De Vries? Corporation, the Luminary talent agency par excelance. Her organization is best known for its mercenaries (Elites), but also does talent management of every possible stripe.
  • Mefistofaleez - (Nova) Hip-hop artist, producer, record executive and sometimes-revolutionary.
  • Indira Shastri (AKA "Rakshasa" AKA "Y") - (Psion) Indira Shastri is one of the two A-list polymorphs in the world film industry. She originally weant by the nickname "Rakshasa", but dropped that when contact was made with the extraterrestrial species designated with the same name. She has sinced developed a severe affect and a hauty reputation, demanding to be refered to only as "Y". She is routinely compared to Aria Downs in the press, and just as routinely lashes out at her fellow star on the talk-show circuit.
  • Rick Tiger - (Daredevil) The biggest Luminary celebrity to come out of Hong Kong. Known both for his winning smile and his generous charity work.
  • Andy Vance - (Nova) Owner of the Luminary-only bar The Amp Room, huasband of Elite Jake "Dragon" Korelli and founder of the Queer Nova Alliance (which is still yet to settle on a name change, depite having Psion, Exalt and Daredevil members).
  • Constantina Zavinovich - (Nova) Possibly the most famous Luminary artist in the world, and deffinately the most political. Her anti-establishment works in numerous media have gotten her arrested (or nearly arrested) the world over. Her much anticipated satirical animated series, "Ce N'est pas L'Utopie", is due to premere in the fall of 2008.

Extraterrestrials:

  • Fair-Spoken Rishi - (Alchemical Exalted) Since first contact with humanity, the Autochthonians have remained adamant about avoiding unnecessary "cultural interaction". Autochthonian authorities have worked out a system with the governments of the USA, Japan, Great Britain and the European Union to process Earthly waste into valuable materials, in exchange for laborers who visit and work in Autochton's tightly controled factories. Fair-Spoken Rishi is Autochthonia's one delegate to the people of Earth.
  • Longeye Underhider - (Chromatic Psion) Ambassador Underhider was already a hero among the Chromatics before they first "made a bridge through the night" to attack Earth during the Equitorial Wars. After finding evidence that his people had been mislead by a more technologically advanced species, he convinced the tribal authorities to call off the invasion. He has since become the de-facto spokesman for Chromatics in their dealings with Earth, and in particular in their joint venture with the government of Greater Nigeria.
  • Soub-jur - (Qin Psion) Soub-jur is the head Qin ambassador on Earth. He is a fequent guest of world governments, is always in attendance at major international events, and has adressed the UN General Assembly on more than one occasion. His primary residence remains at the Qin delegation in Beijing.

  • Giuseppe del Fuego - (Psion) The shdowy leader of the New National Force, a pan-Latin American guerilla revolutionary movement also renouned as a source of Psi-active narcotics.
  • Heaven Thunder Triad - Also known as The Three Dragons Guild, HTT is widely rumored to be directed by three Luminaries with the titles Ubiquitous Dragon, Meticulous Dragon, and Insidious Dragon, respectively.
  • Luciano Camparelli and Alexi Zukhov - (Status unknown, both presumably Baseline) The twin heads of the Camparelli-Zukhov megasyndicate. Rumors persist that there is actually a single figure even above them in the chain of command.
  • Medellin Cartel - The resurgent industry leader in cocaine trafficing, rumored to be intimately connected to (or even controlled by) Wilhelm Peron Lehrder and his Movimiento Latino Nacional.
  • Yoshiro Nakamura - (Status unknown, presumed Baseline) The Oyabun (boss) of the Nakato Gumi, the last of the Yakuza clans. He is also the CEO of Kuro-Tek, the leading Japanese conglomerate specializing in next-generation technology.

Environmentalism:

  • Dr. Spencer Balmer (Antaeus) - (Nova) Project Utopia's most famous scientific mind, responsible for much of the sweeping ecological clean-up and terra-re-forming projects of that agency.
  • Bene Manata (Bounty) - (Exalt) Former Project Utopia employee and protege of Antaeus, current Teragen idealogue.
  • Shauna Mc Shane? (Fauna) - (Nova) Founder of Green War, the Luminary ecoterrorist outfit.

Oceanian/South-East Asian Figures:

  • Aurora Australis - (3 Psions and 1 Daredevil) Australia's national metahuman defense team, all veterans from The Legions. The team's roster (by call-sign) includes: Corona, a Photo- and Telekinetic, Outback, known for his Biokinetic super-athleticism, Phobos, a Telepath and Clairsentient, and Coral, who pilots a Bio VARG? (Vacuum Assault Reconiscence Gear). In keeping with the anti-Nova bent of the Legions, Aurora Australis has not accepted any Novas, and seems to extend that bias to Exalts as well.
  • Heaven Thunder Triad - See Organized Crime
  • Solveig Larssen - (Psion) One of a tiny number of Psions who claim to have experienced a previous life in a (possibly deviant) future timeline of Earth. Larssen is the General of The Legions, a paramilitary/mercenary organization headquartered in Australia with close ties to that nation's government. She and her organization espouse cultural and ideological loyalty to the lost time from which she claims to hail (and to which many Psions report an innate affinity). This includes an absolute distrust (bordering on vilification) of Novas, with a less certain distrust of Exalts.
  • Bodhisatva Masato - See Science
  • Rangda - (Exalt) Regional hero of Bali and Jakarta, the most famous (and possibly the most powerful) of Indonesia's native Luminaries. Rangda is beloved both as a symbol of national pride, and for her work on behalf of the poor and the marginalized.

Voices for Peace in the United States:

  • Dr. Toren Cargill (Dr. Worm) - (Nova) A scandal-haunted professor of Philosophy, a leading figure of the "True History" movement in academic thought (a reaction against postculturalism), an avowed Anarchist, a media commentor, an advocate for pacifism (at least on the national scale), a critic of both the Teragen and Project Utopia and one of the three founders of the nascent Aberrant movement.
  • Corby Carter - (Nova) Carter is an activist, political pundit and frequent consultant with Project Utopia. His book (Principles for an Ethical Society) and his organization (The Citizens Committee for a New Code of Ethics and Law) are both growing steadily in ciculation and membership respectively. While its difficult to pin down exactly what he advocates on any narrow policy issue, he has spoken publically for military disengagement.
  • Robert Rodi (Rainbow) - (Psion) Rainbow is the City Defender of San Francisco, and an activist for the causes of Queer rights, disarmament, and economic and racial justice.
