Fighters
No ship with an SM lower than SM+6 can carry a Stardrive Engine. Most fighters are either "in-system" war-systems, or carried in larger vessels.

Jump Computers (Design Option)
A system's Jump Computers are part of the Stardrive Engine system. These quantum computers are integral to the Jump Drive itself and run by Dedicated AI's especially programmed to do the intensely difficult math required to make a Jump Drive work. The basic system included with the system module is considered to be QN 0 cost for a Ship SM+6 to SM+11. Larger ships from SM+12 to SM+15 start with a QN 1 Jump Computer for no extra cost. SM+5 or smaller "fighters" cannot have Jump Engines at all. You can, if you so wish, upgrade to stronger Jump Computers or buy a Redundant Backup.

The Quantum Number of a Jump Computer makes it easier to make difficult jumps. When making a Long Jump, or trying to Navigate a Jump Fork, reduce the Penalty either condition gives by an amount equal to your Quantum Number (to a maximum of +0). When encountering any other kind of difficulty, except for a Torn Lane, you may reduce the penalty by half of your Quantum Number. Aside from the fact that they were vastly more powerful, no one knows much about the Jump Computers of the Old Empire.
