Timeline of the Third Age of Man

An unknown force breaches the CORE Blockade with the Damocles Wormhole, creating an Artificial Jump Lane from an uninhabited section of the Galaxy into the Co.Re. Capital World. The fighting lacks mostly week, sterilizes most worlds and destroys entire systems, until eventually the Consciousness Repository itself is destroyed and most of the Empire's interior jump lanes are frayed away to nothing. The Empire is cut off from Interstellar Travel for hundreds of years, when new connections begin to grow. Numerous large fleet battles occur between the Galactic Trade Consortium and the Empire of Man. The Spinward Federation continues its futile efforts to stop the sentient self-replicating nanoswarm that has already consumed most of their space, while the New Terra Alliance completes the collapse that began after their "victory" at the Battle of New Terra.

Three Consortium "Star Destroyers" slip past the Imperial Picket at Wall, each adding several pretty new Asteroid Belts to numerous Imperial Systems until they're destroyed by Imperial Task Forces. While the Imperial Lines are in disarray, the Consortium manages to lay siege to the shipyards at Dingir, doing extensively damage until they're pushed back by reinforcements from further in the Empire. Elsewhere in the Galaxy, an Imperial Battle Group wipes out a Pantropic Enclave, driving two more Subraces of Humanity into extinction. Later in the year the selfsame Battle Group gets into an engagement with one of the surviving Pantropic Motherships. It manages to destroy the vessel, but not before a Black Hole is created in the middle of the field of battle, destroying most of the vessels in the engagement and all of the capital ships.

The Second Emperor of Man has Fleet Admiral Abdelban reassigned to parts unknown, and puts Fleet Admiral bin-Tusi in charge of the offensive against the Consortium. The new Admiral discontinues the planned offensive against Hole, the last surviving Pantropic Enclave, and launches a fresh strike deep into G.T.C. territory. The fighting is heavy, with the Imperials only gaining one or two systems every few months. The Spinward Federation abandons several member worlds to the Swarm, tearing the Jump Lines between those worlds and the rest of Federation Space. This causes considerable unrest throughout the Federation member states, but seems to halt the advance of the Swarm. Over six million heavily armed refugees from the former League of Free Peoples arrive in Gate System, in STL Generation Ships launched over 200 years ago. The surviving colonists have no way of knowing this, as they'd lost most of their technology base some seventy years ago, and prove grateful when Force Field technology allows colonists to reclaim Gate's surface.

After laying low for several months, advanced scouting elements of the Swarm manage to rebuild enough mass to reattain sentience and resume its destructive march through Spinward Federation space. By the time the Federation Navy discovers the replicating swarms, its too late to stop it, and in a blind panic the Federation almost instantly falls apart as individual worlds tear their outgoing Jump Lanes. Imperial Battle Groups pick up the space in their assault against the Consortium, taking entire systems on an almost weekly basis, though the fighting is particularly fierce. Later in the year, the Consortium rigs a star to go Supernova in the Jedu System as a trap, but most of the Imperial Fleet is able to flee to a safe distance. Regulus System finally comes out of the Temporal Bubble it'd entered into 300 years ago. The Androdyne Battle Group that had been trapped there takes heavy causalities as it conquers the system, and tries to find out what just happened. Marquis System opens its Jump Lane for one day, sending out a Scout Ship, then closes it again.

The Marquis Scout Ship returns to its home system at the appointed hour. The decision is made to keep the Jump Lane unblocked, for now, and the President orders several Trading Caravans to travel to neighboring systems to offer aid to the peoples there. Consortium Fleet Elements push past Imperial Pickets and wreck more havoc on the Empire of Man, slowing Admiral bin-Tusi's offensive for most of the year. One Consortium Battleship manages to reach Capital, and get perilously close to New Jerusalem itself, before the Imperial System Defenses were able to destroy it. The Emperor was said to be most upset. The Swarm's growth in Federation Space has become exponential, as advanced elements that had spread throughout most systems activate and begin replicating. Federation Counter-Efforts begin to get desperate, but very little works. Finally, the Swarm breaks through the main battle picket at Lakisha and overwhelms the Federation's Defensive Fleet. Just before it can descend on the Federation's Capital itself, the planet encases itself in a Stasis Web.

Most Federation Worlds are utterly consumed of all life and technology, though a few were able to save themselves by tearing their Jump Lanes before the Swarm was able to get any advanced units into their system. When the last Federation World was consumed, and its primary directive performed, most of the Swarm either goes directionless and erratic or relocates to Lakisha where it hovers just a bit past the bounds of the Stasis Web. Imperial Battle Groups push onward until they hit heavily settled Consortium Worlds. Large Fleet Battles range up and down the front for months, mostly concentrated around the Camryn and Locus Systems, though the Admiral tries several flanking efforts. Most battles end in a stalemate; the Imperial Fleet withdrawals back several systems by the end of the year to regroup. Nanopurges on Regulus Prime comes to an end. All non-Androdyne on the planet are reassigned to either Servitor or Master Status and the last hints of dissension end entirely though unrest continues on the off-world settlements. The Government puts 100% effort toward rebuilding System Defenses.

More heavy fighting between the Empire of Man and the Consortium toward the beginning of the year, as the Consortium launches a Counter-offensive and manages to push the Imperial Fleet back several sectors, but as reinforcements arrive the tide turns. By the end of the Year, the Admiral has captured both Camryn and Locus Systems, and is making the push toward the centers of Consortium Civilization. Marquis Alliance formed between Marquis, Virginis, Anchor, and Talos Systems. The Alliance concentrates on fortifying the Jump Points in the nearby Jaddu System as a defensive measure and building up the Picket Fleets of the the member systems as well as encouraging Trade between Alliance members. Former President Paulson becomes the first Alliance President. New Terra Reclamation Effort breaks down; citizens of New Terra abandon planet in droves and begin building extensive orbital and asteroid habitats to house the planets population.

Androdyne of Regulus System finish Unification of the System, having either assimilated or eliminated all non-Androdyne within the system. Also, the Cloning and Augmentation Infrastructure is finally put in place: the population of Regulus System increases by an order of magnitude by the end of the year, vastly increasing the ongoing effort to build system defenses and reinforce localized military strength. The Government gives up attempts to contact other Androdyne, and proclaims Regulus the new Central World. Imperial Assaults begin heading toward the Consortium Home World, amidst heavy fighting and terrific losses. The Imperials lose several engagements, but this only slows the inevitable. The Consortium are taking heavy loses to hold the Imperial Navy back from their Core, while the Core of the Empire remains untouched. By the end of the year the Imperial Navy is only a few jumps away from several vital Consortium Industrial Centers. Marquis Alliance admits two new systems, Islandia and Hilo, as associated members.

T Consortium takes heavy, irreplaceable losses but manages to protect both the Blacksky and Losin Systems from the Imperial Advance. Prosperi is less fortunate, suffering heavy nuclear bombardment when an Imperial Battle Group managed to break through the Defensive Picket, but the Consortium at least kept the Imperials from consolidating their advance there even if they were unable to save their in-system facilities there. Orion opens its sole viable Jump Lane, leading to the Cyrus Proxima trinary star system, and sends a full battle group of fast cruisers and a small fleet carrier to investigate conditions there. It finds the system barren, the civilizations that had been present have been exterminated. Colonization of the systems begins before the end of the year. Regulus finishes work on its System Defenses, and begins constructing additional Fleet Elements, including seven Starkiller-class World Killers and thirteen Adversary-class Dreadnoughts. The Regulan Androdyne also send out numerous small Trading Ships, in the guise of Free Regulan Traders, to gather additional information about the states and systems surrounding their territory.

Forward Fleet Elements of the Consortium Navy manage to make a a risky jump from Braxley System to a vestigal Jump Point some 19,000 AU away from the Imperial Capital. The ship releases a few thousand square yards of self-replicating cannibal nanoswarms, then immediately disappeared (presumably having attempted to jump back to Braxley, but having misjumped, only emerging some 50 years later) before it was spotted. The nanoswarm immediately began cannibalizing the Oort Cloud to build Autonomous Kill Vehicles and additional Cannibal Nanoswarm. The Imperial Fleet, none the wiser, continued its offensive against the Consortium Core Worlds and finally managed to break through the Consortium Pickets on Blacksky and Losin. Both worlds were nuked into glass and the fleet then immediately jumped onto the next systems. The Navy continued this quick advance for the rest of the year, blowing through Consortium Defenses and sterilizing worlds, until it regrouped just outside the Consortium Capital itself. Regulan Androdyne quietly annexed two border systems that had regressed to a pre-starfaring society. An Orion Battle Group was mysteriously lost while scouting the edges of Federation Space. The Orion High Command suspected Co.Re's "Nanoswarm Plague", and desperate to learn more, sent a carefully instructed Scouting Group to gather more information. Most of this group was also consumed, but three ships managed to report back enough information to confirm what happened. Orion AI's began drawing up contingency plans for dealing with Swarm if it should try to intrude on Alliance space.

The Final Imperial push into Consortium Space began, toward the middle of the year, once enough elements of the fleet had gathered and the Admiral felt sure of victory even considering the extensive Consortium Defensive Elements. The Battle of GTC Prime begins. Fully three fourths of the Imperial Fleet is decimated, Admiral bin-Tusi is killed, and eventually Admiral Kellis orders the planet to be bombed into black glass killing the billions of inhabitants when an opportunity presents itself. After the planet falls, remaining Consortium Fleet Elements flee, and the Imperial Navy consolidates its hold on the rest of the system. Jaddu System, in Marquis Alliance Space, is colonized. The Jaddu, a presapient species (like Great Apes or Dolphins) native to one of the planets in the system, are granted probationary membership in the Alliance to help "safeguard" them while their planet is colonized -- though this is largely a formality, with little consideration given to the 'natives', despite previous Pantropic Collective practice. Regulan Androdyne annex another border system, this one having lost access to spaceflight entirely, separating a planet-bound culture from a separate culture upon the planets moon.

Uziel enters into active duty, sent to the Consortium Front with a fresh Battle Group to help combat a final desperate Consortium Counter-Offensive that is pounding whats left of the Imperial Fleet. The Fleet is nearly in full retreat when the reinforcements arrive, and even with their help, the fighting is hot and heavy (the Consortium warriors feeling they have nothing to lose at this point). More worlds are sterilized, but by the end of the year, the Consortium itself has been well and fully crippled. The Empire of Man is the last remaining extant Old Empire. Meanwhile, back at the Imperial Capital, the Navy is beginning to wonder why several distant repeater stations on the Oort Cloud are going offline. An expedition to the Oort Cloud is arrange, but given the huge distance to be traveled, it doesn't arrive before the end of the war. The Regulan Androdyne annex two more systems, while back at Regulus itself the population is rapidly approaching a trillion heavily augmented and expertly trained Androdyne Warriors. The Lord Androdyne and his staff begin planning their campaign, aiming at quietly taking up chunks of former Pantropic Collective space while preparing for a showdown with the Empire of Man, in the hopes that they can build up their forces quicker than the Empire can rebuild theirs. Especially if the Emperor thinks that he's the undisputed ruler of the Galaxy.
