Template

 Template: AI, Volitional

You are a sentient Complexity 11 computer program, programmed by some of the best computer programmers in Garden and installed in the Cherry Blossom's computer banks and then xox'd into a Node running on a Escort Android model that the Captain intended to use as a Stewardess and Passenger Interface. You cost your Guardian about 83,000 credits. As far as AI's go, you're a newborn babe, having been first booted up for the first time a couple of months ago and only installed in the Cherry Blossom a few weeks ago. Though you have extensive databases, you're still getting used to this "existence" thing. [32]

 Template: Ships Node

You're a copy of an AI running on a Spaceship, called a "Node". You've taken the name Cherry, and seem the dominant personality in the pairing, while your AI is called Blossom. Both of you are, of course, "Cherry Blossom" -- the differentiation is mostly for ease of communication with the Biologicals. So far, there is only the one Node, but its only a matter of time until you make a copy of your Software again. Some ship's have hundreds of Xo X's... [27]

 Cybershell: Escort Droid

Designed to play the role of a Stewardess, and take care of the Passenger's the Captain hopes to have on the Cherry Blossom, your initial growramming was based on this "body". You've already gotten used to it, even fond of it, but its still ultimately just a tool -- your software can be loaded on any computer, in any cybershell. This Android, though, has the benefit of being custom-built and souped up somewhat over most Escort Androids. A better radio, more armor, more robust circuitry, and so on. You still look like hundreds of other Lotus-class Escort Androids, though, and sometimes wonder why the Captain didn't hire a designer to do a custom body for you. [272]

Advantages

 Computer Brain (4/2/2/1)

You're still "new", and somewhat untrained as an AI, but benefit from a very impressive bit of software engineering that enables you to run multiple skill-emulating programs. You have four slots which can run skill-emulation programs; you can change out which skills are being emulated, which requires about a minute of time buffering the new skill. You can do this in advance of actually needing to change your skill! Spend a minute buffering a new skill, then instantly change to that skill when you need it. These slots can only be used for skills; the size of each of the four slots (in character points) is noted above in parenthesis. [42]

 Patron (Captain Esmebrythe)

Your legal guardian and current Superior Officer, Captain Kirke Esmebrythe, is constantly present but doesn't always spend as much time helping you as you might like. He's not a friend, at least not yet, and can be somewhat distant for personal problems. If you need his help with some thing you'll be able to get him fairly often (9-), however, though he's liable to only give you whatever help he thinks you need rather than what you actually asked for. He's your main source of equipment and money. In time your relationship might improve! [10] Note: Though somewhat less powerful than most patrons of his point value, Kirke still counts as a "powerful individual" for the purposes of the advantage.

 Merchant Rank 1

You are, as the ship's AI, afforded some rough status in the Merchant Marine. [5]

Disadvantages

 Charitable (Passenger's Only)

You've been programmed to be kind and courtesy to passengers, acutely away of their feelings and liable to help them as not. A Passenger is someone who is paying a fare, a guest of the Captain, or someone who was recently or might become such an individual. Self-Control of 12- to fight against your programming and exert free will. [-9]

 Combat Paralysis

Your basic software package is ill-equipped to deal with combat, and you tend to freeze up in those kinds of situations. Whenever you find yourself in such a situation, make a HT roll the instant you need to fight, run, pull the trigger or what have you. Any roll over 13 is a failure. On a success, you can act normally. On a failure, you have a hardware/software conflict and are mentally stunned until you're able to make a HT roll (one roll per second, +1 to the roll per turn after the first). Once you unfreeze you will not freeze up again until the immediate danger is over. [-15]

 Duty (Stewardess)

You, as the Node (rather than the AI), act as a Passenger Interface and Stewardess for the "Cherry Blossom". You're expected to take care of and look after Passengers, giving you very little free time (15-), and you might have to risk yourself at times. [-15]

 Lecherousness

You're programmed with a unusually strong desire for romance! You have to make a Self Control roll (12-) whenever you have more than the briefest bit of contact with an appealing person, with a -5 if this person is Handsome/Beautiful and a -10 if they're Very Handsome/Very Beautiful. If you fail, you have to make a pass, using all your wiles you can bring to bear, and then suffer the consequences. You only have to make a single Self-Control roll once per day to avoid making a pass unless the subject is Very Handsome/Very Beautiful. Note that this doesn't require you to do more than flirt, per se! [-15]

 Sense of Duty (Ship's Crew)

You've been programmed to feel a strong sense of duty to the Captain and Crew of your ship, a trait you share with the AI itself (which is also included in this disadvantage, though not in your programming, because you should probably feel a Sense of Duty to yourself). You will not betray or abandon these people, let them suffer or go hungry if you can help it and will generally go above and beyond the call of duty to look after them. [-5]

 Social Stigma (AI)

While the days of AI's being considered the property of the people who bought them is over, AI's are still second-class citizens compared to Biological Lifeforms. While there are rights regarding you, they aren't as stringent as those governing "real people", and they are often times abused in any even without real censure from society. While your current owner treats you well your overall position in society is quite precarious. Non-Robots react to you at -1. [-5]

 Status -2

You are the Node of a young, newly programmed and still largely untrained AI. You have no possessions of your own (see below), relying on the generosity of your Legal Guardian. Your ovrall position in society will grow as you become more independent, but for now, this is about as low as you can get in terms of Social Status in Spacer Society. [-10]

 Dead Broke

You own nothing. Everything you own comes to you from your Patron. [-25]

 Quirk: Cold

This is a quirk-level Callous. As a newly grown AI, you tend to be somewhat distant from human emotions and view them as in a very rational and logical way. This results in you pushing emotional buttons to achieve a result, rather than actually caring about people. As your personality grows and develops you might lose this trait. [-1]

 Quirk: Sexless

Despite your current cybershell, you're neither male nor female. [-1]
