Motown Down Game Recap

Seth Shield and Lashonda Tarnow arrange to meet in front of a bar on Monday night
to discuss Seth's harassment by the Sheriff. They discover that the bar, along
with the rest of the businesses in the neighborhood, is already closed at 10:00 pm
due to a city-wide curfew. Sirens can be heard in the vicinity of a fire somewhere
down along Twelfth Street. Sheriff Fredrick Marzano and his ghouls show up and
"convince" Lashonda and Seth to see the Prince. Lashonda tells him that she has
more "friends" from out of town staying with her at the Algiers Hotel. The Sheriff
says that he will go to see them after taking Lashonda and Seth to the court. They
all ride in Marzano's police car to Fort Detroit, spotting a _tank_ driving up the
street in the opposite direction.

In the Prince's court, neither Archimedes nor most of the Prmiogen make an appearance.
Nahum, the chamberlain, is the defacto ranking member of the Camarilla present, so
she does the best she can answering questions from concerned kindred who want to know
what to do about the looting, arson and curfew, which is bad for night-time business.
Germaine Kendra makes a brief mention of his concerns over the status of some of his
art objects. Terrence Aburto lurks in the rear of the chamber, listening in to all the
conversations and biding his time until he can go to find his contact from out of town.

Sheriff Marzano arrives with the captives, and asks Nahum in private why he, the sheriff
wasn't informed about the National Guard being brought in to deal with the civil unrest,
and what the Prince would like him to do in this situation. Unfortunately, Nahum hasn't
been able to speak with the Prince herself yet and can't offer any good advice.
After briefly questioning Lashonda, Nahum bids her and Seth to go, and calls the court
to a premature close. Terrence, who has heard Lashonda give her name and evade key
questions about her origins, suspects that she might be his contact, and approaches her
as she and Seth are leaving the chamber. Terrence offers them his haven as a safe place
to hide out until the riots blow over.

Ductus Caitlin Harken gathers her pack together and lets them know that they have been
selected to slay the Prince of Detroit. But before they do so, they need to find their
spy Terrence and ask him about the locations of the Prince's havens. Using an army
truck "borrowed" from a national guard soldier, they drive to the abandoned house
that Terrence uses for a haven.

Terrence, Lashonda and Seth arrive the abandoned house just as Caitlin and Luthor
walk up to the front door. Terrence approaches them and introduces the pawn shop owner
and the biker to the ductus and priest. They all decide that they will be safer if
they stick together for the time being. Lashonda tells the others that she wants to
return to her hotel to tell her fellow Outlaws to get out of town. Once Caitlin hears
that the Sheriff is there, she eagerly agrees to head there.

Near the Algiers Hotel, the police and military have cordoned off the neighborhood and
are enforcing the curfew. Alexjandro parks the army truck some distance away and the
group approaches on foot. With a judicious use of Dominate and Presence, they are
allowed to walk past the road bloacks without incident and enter the hotel.

Inside they find Marzano and his ghouls beating up some of the Outlaws in a room on
the third floor. Caitlin, Luthor and the rest of the Sabbat immediately attack the
Sheriff and his ghouls, drawing Seth into the fight as Terrence cowers and Lashonda
attempts to flee. Marzano stomps on the floor, activating a Thaumatuurgic rote and
causes the room to collapse. Luthor and Caitlin pulls themselves into the hallway
with both real and shadow tentacles, grappling with Marzano. Lashonda starts dragging
her biker friends out of the wreckage in the room below, while Seth continues his
attack on the Sheriff. Marzano fight frenzedly until Luthor pulls his face off. Seth
rolls away from the brawl and watches in horror as Luthor continues stripping flesh
off of Marzano, and Caitlin pins him to the floor. Luthor diablerizes Marzano and
Caitlin tears his head off, storing it in a handbag.

Lashonda, Seth and Terrance run to the lobby, followed by Caitlin and Luthor. Luthor
grabs random people in the hallway and rearranges their appearance to create more of
a distraction. One terrified Outlaw dives out of a fourth story window when he sees
a bone-spiked tentacle reaching for him.

Outside the front doors, the National Guard are closing in, drawn by the screams and
the sound of the collapsing floor inside the Hotel. Terrence charges them without
concealing his appearance, and receives a volley of m-14 rifle shots. Seth swooshes
around behind the guardsmen and knock them off their feet. Terrence then tears out
throat of one of the guardsmen and begins feasting. The other guardsmen who haven't
had their legs broken by Seth scatter away from the hotel as fast as they can. Caitlin
emerges from the hotel, sees what is happening outside and shrugs. Luthor changes
his appearance to look like Marzano, and steps outside, dragging one of the Sheriff's
ghouls, and tells everyone to calm down.

Having not seen the Prince all night, Nahum decides to go looking for him herself.
She asks Germaine to drive her to one of the Prince's office buildings near Grand Circus
Park. When they arrive, they notice police trying to control a demonstration of some
sort in the park. After convincing the doorman to let them in, they find the office
empty, and everything packed up to go to New Orleans. Glancing outside, they see dark
storm clouds circulating overhead in the smoky sky.

Seth, Terrence, Lashonda and a few Outlaws who can still walk take some motorcycles
and head to the bar where Seth and Lashonda began their night. They break in, and hide
in the basement leaving the bikers and a neighborhood dog to guard them during the day.

Nahum and Germaine decide to check the nearby Books Cadillac Hotel because Archimedes
often uses it for private meetings. Sure enough, the hotel is mostly deserted (which is
very strange) and there is strange writing on the ballroom's doors. They overhear
several voices, including the Prince saying something about "becoming as a god".
Nahum knocks, and Archimedes answers the door, telling her that he is not to be disturbed
this night and that she has leave to handle the problems in the city as she sees fit.
Before he closes the door, Germaine glimpses several of the Primogen standing in the
ballroom with a flickering blue light coming from somewhere. Nahum and Germaine leave
to rest for the day in the apartment of one of Germaine's artist friends.

The army truck arrives at Grand Curcus park and Luthor notices the rolling clouds above
the Books Cadillac hotel. The pack runs into the building. As they search for their
prey, someone hides the Camarilla elders from sight while they exit the building, and
starts killing the pack members and deformed ghouls that Luthor makes as reinforcements.
Then, this hidden kindred waits for the Sabbat to return to the army truck in the hopes
of finishing them off, but Luthor percieves that someone is inside, and throws grenades
at the truck. The mysterious kindred crumples one grenade in his hand before it goes off,
and departs unseen as the army truck is lifted into the air by the blast of several more
grenades rolled underneath it. Luthor, Caitlin and Alexjandro decide to seek shelter
in another hotel for the coming day.

The next evening, Nahum manages to contact Samuel Godkin on the phone and learns that
the Prince has called for an emergency meeting of the Primogen at Fort Detroit tonight.
Germaine and Nahum head drive there, noticing the increased arson and military presence
in the city on their way.

Seth bids goodbye to Terrence and Lashonda and returns to his pawn shop to protect it
from the rioters. He sees that entire blocks in his neighborhood are burning and groups
of looters are roaming the streets. He stands guard outside his shop with a shotgun
and encourages an arsonist to direct his propane torch elsewhere.

Lashonda and Terrence try to ride out of the city but soon encounter a military roadblock.
When they fail to stop, the guardsmen open fire, flattening the rear tire. They roll to
their feet from the crashed motorcycle and continue running on foot. They decide to
head south along Woodward Avenue to get to the river and thereby out of the city as soon
as possible. They eventually reach Grand Circus Park where they see police rounding up
demonstrators and decide to circumvent part of downtown to get to the river.

Caitlin, Luthor and Alexjandro steal a hotel employee's Chevrolet and decide to find Seth
for additional backup. They drive back to Twelfth Street where many fires are burning,
at one point almost driving right through the flames pouring out of a church. They find
Seth still protecting his property, and convince him that it is safer to come with them
than stay here in the burning neighborhood. They then drive to Fort Detroit.

Nahum and Germaine enter the court chamber to find a few of the Primogen and some other
kindred present, but still no Prince. They choose to wait until he arrives.

Caitlin, Luthor, Alexjandro and Seth reach Fort Detroit and stage a distraction hoping
to draw the Prince outside. The distraction consists of attcking and embracing the
national guardsmen in the adjacent military base. As the guardsmen frenzy and start to
shoot at each other, Seth drives a fuel tanker truck up to the entrance to the court
chamber and opens the hose to start pouring diesel fuel onto the ground. A man appears
at the edge of the parking lot, and approaches the guardsmen, who immediately calm down
and start gathering together. Seth recognizes the man as Archimedes. Caitlin attacks th
1500 year-old Ventrue and has a difficult time in bringing him down. The fledgling
guardsmen rally to help him as Luthor hurls all of their grenades that he confiscated
earlier. The explosion kills all of the fledglings but leaves Archimedes nearly unscathed.

Below in the court chamber, the Cam,arilla kindred hear the explosion and see a small
crack form in the vaulted ceiling. They send a ghoul to see what is happening outside
but he doesn't return.

Luthor drags the hose from the fuel truck to the elevator shaft inside the entrance building
and fuel pours down. A national guard helicopter begins circulatingoverhead, scanning
the area with its searchlight. Archimedes approaches the entrance, and Luthor, Caitlin
and Seth grapple him. Caitlin flows into the helicopter to kill the pilots and returns
to the melee. Archimedes still doesn't fall, and bats Seth away.

At the bottom of the elevator shaft, Germaine smells diesel fuel. The assembled kindred
begin to head toward the hidden exit under the old well.

Luthor sees the helicopter spinning out of control and heading down to them, and dives
away at the last moment. Caitlin continues to hold Archimedes in place while in shadow
form. The helicopter crashes on the ground, igniting the diesel and causing the rocket
packs on the helicopter to detonate. The resulting explosion levels the surrounding
buildings. In the midst of the flames, a very injured and scorched Archimedes begins
to stagger away. Seth grabs him and starts dragging him towards the river, and Luthor
and Caitlin renew their attack. In the resulting tug-of-war at the river's edge, the
Prince is torn to pieces and Caitlin drinks the last of his thick, clotted vitae, then
kills Seth. Caitlin and Luthor decide that they need a place to regroup. Looking
across the river, they see the skyline of Windsor.

The remaining Camarilla kindred escape through the well inside the old Fort and flee
into the city.

As Terrence and Lashonda swim out into the river, they see explosions occuring upstream.
Later, as they are approaching Windsor, they see something that resembles the
creature from the black lagoon (Luthor) swimming towards Windsor ahead of them.
