Back to Abyssal Charms or Moonshadow Caste
Speaker for the Dead
Cost: 4 motes Duration: One scene Type: Simple Minimum Socialize: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Exquisite Etiquette Style
The Abyssal adopts the somber air of a harbinger from the Underworld, who bears the wisdom and authority of the Ancestors, evoking in all who see her a rough sense of unease and respect. The Abyssals words are accorded more attention, and he is treated as an honored and respectful guest. The Abyssal gains his Essence in automatic successes for Socialize rolls based on hospitality, such as securing a respectable place to rest and an offering of food and drink. In addition, the Abyssal gains his Essence in dice to all Socialize rolls that have to do with cold formality, or matters of form. This charm has no power over warm and friendly interaction, but instead formality and social responcibiltiy.
Whispers of the Ancestors
Cost: 7 motes Duration: Instant Type: Reflexive Minimum Socialize: 4 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Passion-Unveiling Glance
There is no man in the Age of Sorrows untouched by Death; everyone has ancestors, childhood friends struck down by plague, fallen enemies from bygone years. Through the use of this Charm, the Abyssal can rip from the Underworld various bits of information related to a given living target as he is known to those he is connected to in the Underworld. The character must know the targets name, and must make a Perception + Essence roll (difficulty of 1, or higher for targets the Underworld is ignorant of). One success gives broad and somewhat biased information, three successes gives a good overview of the target and how he is viewed by his ancestors, and five successes provides a veritable family history for the character. This charm will not reveal things only known to the living, or to those who have passed into lethe.
