Revolver of Mystery

The Revolver of Mystery is a firearm roughly matching the description of an average colt revolver. Its most basic paranormal property is its effectively limitless ammo supply: once emptied, its chambers are immediately refilled from an Undisclosed Location, through inter-dimensional transposition. Its only other abnormal properties lie in the ammunition itself.

Every bullet fired from the Revolver of Mystery is unique - there has never been a duplicate effect. Most, if not all, of the Revolver's payloads appear to involve proto-matter (the reality-bending stuff of Flux Space), and so are characterized by bizarre, logic-defying and often nonsensical effects. The destructive capacity of the weapon varies wildly, as do the range of possible outcomes for exactly what form one an attack with it will take.

Systemically, roll 5 dice (the Revolver's Gadget rating) whenever the gun is fired. The result determines both the objective magnitude of the attack and its relevance to the target of that attack (increasing the likelihood, for instance, that the attack will somehow play into a weakness of the target). This uses the normal 1-5 success scale: 1 success would be basic and should never take a particularly fortuitous or useful form, where as 5+ successes should always carry some additional benefit. As always, a botch indicates some sort of severe calamity for the user. Inspiration may be spent when making this roll, granting +3 dice per point expended.

General guidelines for the destructive capacity of the Revolver of Mystery. The gun's basic stats are Acc +0, Dmg 5L, Rate 3, Range 50. Each success on the Gadget roll grants 3 Options, used to add to the statistics of the gun.

Example 1: 4,0,6,7,8=4 successes=12 Options. The gun fires a broad cone of liquid oxygen - Extra: Burning (3), Extra: Area (3), +12 Dmg (6).

Example 2: (2 Inspiration are spent, adding 4 dice to the roll) - 4,0,7,3,2,6,2,0,9,4,2=6 successes=18 Options. The gun fires a wave of radiation, causing massive, debilitating mutations in the target. Damage converted to Aggravated (5), -2 Rate (+1), Extra: Piercing (3), +5 Acc (5), +6 Damage (6).
