The legend of the Four Dooms is an ancient one, and like many legends it has its origins in the truth. Through the long stretch of time since the origin of the story, in the latter years of the First Age, the tale has diluted and largely fallen out of the legends of the people. Some wise Dragon-Blooded know of the Huntsman's Spear, the most potent weapon the Realm possesses against the Lunar Anathema. Some might even have heard of the fabled Begger King's Blade and the great power it once held, though all know it was destroyed long ago. A few rare Savants might speak of the Dragon's Claw, and even point to the West, where the Solar Anathema "Tidayne" wielded it some 700 years ago for over a decade before the Wyld Hunt finally put him down. Of the Four Dooms, the Crown of Alabaster is the most mysterious and largely known only to the Sidereal themselves -- who both fear it, and are confident that their magics and astrology will keep it forever hidden.
It is unknown if the Dooms themselves are linked; each has its own history, its own mysterious origin. None know the secrets of the artifacts creation, however, and among the especially studious their nature seems suspect. Four artifacts, each specfically potent against one of the Exalted? The very notion seems suspicious, and the fact that none can tell precisely how they came into existance only adds to such worries.
