<< Heavenly Emergency | Scroll And Sword Logs | Dust And Demon >>
(ed. note: This week, Gia was played by Ikselam in place of dissolvegirl)
Arkadi is even more sullen than the previous day, mos tlikely due to his raging hangover
<ST`> Almost the entirely of the Sidereal staffage of the Bureau of Destiny is present at this meeting; anyone absent is conspicuously so. The wide platform is edged with heddles, looms, spools of metallic thread, and other implements of the fate-weavers' craft; there is only just enough room for the Fellowship to stand, even after most of the floor has been cleared.
Arkadi winces and closes his eyes...Winter Blossom's thrice-damned silver-polished breastplate is reflectign right into his eyes
<ST`> Black Ice Shadow clambers to the tops of one of the heftier looms to deliver an announcement.
<ST`> "The Violet Bier of Sorrows apologise for bringing you all here on such short notice. Thank you for attending."
Malic` leans tiredly against the short but stout Red from Juche that happens to be standing next to him...what was his name? Um..man that was some bad rum...Mal blinks at Black Ice Shadow sideways, his head unable to lift from the Red's back as he slumps.
Malic` idly tries to remember to thank the Red later for catching him before he got stuck in the loom.
Gia stands on her tiptoes in an attempt to see past Thundering Oak, the tall Chosen of Battles standing in front of her.
<ST`> The Red stiffens as Black Ice Shadow continues. "We have asked you all here to inform you of the demise of Barren Jade and the remainder of the Obsidian Task Collective." This name echoes in the Circles' minds faintly...the elite ring of spies assigned to observe Deathlord activity in the West?
<Arkadi> "..."
Malic` thinks this is important. Wait...it is! "Were they...killed by the Silver Prince?" Malic's question is slow, as he enunciates his words carefully.
Gia chews fretfully on a thumbnail.
<ST`> "Though the Scroll and Sword Circle arranged a temporary nonagression pact with the Silver Prince, pending a plot against the Eye and Seven Despairs, it seems that the Silver Prince has reneged."
Arkadi mutters "...I told you he was a rat bastard."
<Malic`> "Well he's a deathlord and all..'s..um. what they do."
<ST`> "You must all take great care around him and his deathknights. They cannot be trusted, and they are very, very dangerous."
<Malic`> "...isn't that..redund..over-stating the obvious?"
<ST`> The Chosen of Endings pauses to reply to Malic. "Some of our colleagues are not as...perceptive as we would have liked them to be."
<ST`> "That is all."
<Arkadi> "..."
Arkadi sighs "That's it?"
<Arkadi> "Seems a little bit of a waste of resources to call us all up here for two sentences...there's gotta be something else."
<ST`> The other Sidereals bustle about; many of them are alarmed, and want only to return to their labor. Only a few remain, Black Ice Shadow among them.
Arkadi pinches he brow...he's gotta talk to Vanal Bayer, the Prince of Painkillers soon, or he'll regret it
Arkadi tries to make his way to Black Ice Shadow
<ST`> The Maiden of the Shelf and Black Ice Shadow await Arkadi, and motion toward the other members of the Circle as well.
<Arkadi> "Okay, spill it...I *KNOW* you didn't call us here to tell us something that an IM could've."
Malic` thanks the Red profusly..if in a rather slow and carefully short-worded fashion, and drags himself toward the Purple and the Goddess.
Gia makes her way toward the Maiden and Shadow, pushing against the general direction of the crowd.
Malic` makes it through the crowd, joining the Maiden, Black Ice Shadow and Arkadi. Promptly, Malic finds a loom against which to lean, deciding Arkadi wouldn't be nice enough to offer a shoulder.
Gia smooths unruly hair back from her face, and gives the Maiden of the Shelf a polite bow.
<ST`> "Yes, we could have gone about that less dramatically." Shadow speaks in a voice pitched to blend into the comfortable working hum. "I needed to know who could be present and who could not, though."
Arkadi blinks blearily "Come again? I'm not exactly in top form."
Gia gives Arkadi a mildly exasperated look.
<ST`> "I have reason to suspect we have traitors in our midst--I KNOW everyone who's assigned to the Deathlord issue, and I'm sure that none of them are feeding the Prince information."
<Arkadi> "Oh..."
<ST`> "Without very specific knowledge of Barren Jade's position, I don't think it would have been possible for him to do what he did."
Arkadi blook darkens
<Arkadi> *Ark's look darkens
<Arkadi> "So that leaves..."
<Malic`> "Maybe it was that nice person who left us the Underworld Astrology."
<Malic`> "Or was that the Deathknights? I'm confused."
<ST`> "I suspect the two events are related."
<Arkadi> "Pretty bloody likely."
<Gia> "Could the things we saw in the South also be part of this?" Gia speculates.
<Malic`> "You know...if our astrology doesnt work down there...why does theirs work up here..."
Malic` stares blankly into space as he contemplates.
<ST`> The Maiden pulls a tangle of thread out of a basket and unpicks it while she replies. "I think that comes from a second force--and the Lunars either don't know what they are dealing with, or they aren't telling us something they should."
<ST`> "I'm surprised Tamuz let you go in there."
<Malic`> "Ohh..they're lying the...sneaky silver sex-shifting slippery self-...something..bastards!"
Malic` seems to have lost the ability to come up with words starting with S.
Gia blinks at Malic's attempted profanity.
<Arkadi> "I think it's more likely they didn't know."
<Gia> "Then the Deathlords might not have had anything to do with Osprey disappearing." It's not clear if this thought makes Gia relieved or worried.
<Arkadi> "How do you figure THAT?"
<ST`> "Your colleague Osprey should be along shortly, by the way. I detected some vile influence coalescing around him and had to...remove him. He's just recovering."
<Malic`> "I didn't think the Deathlords liked the Yozis..Yozi...Yoizeses..."
<Arkadi> "Yozis."
<Malic`> "Yeah..them..."
<Arkadi> "And from what I've dug up...they don't get along, but have an agreement, of sorts."
<Malic`> "Well what's that worth? A Cynis's blowjob that's what..."
<Arkadi> "What kind, I dunno...but since I've yet to see a dozen bloodapes with deathknight backup....I don't think it's all that close."
<Arkadi> "Malic? Let me be the cynic here."
<Malic`> "Damn..deathknights with their..lying selves.."
<Malic`> "Damn demons!"
<ST`> "Didn't you report the Chorus at Midnight having some trafficking with the defiled?"
Gia nods.
<Malic`> "Oh. Yeah..that..but they were enslaved and all..everyone enslaves demons.."
<Arkadi> "They do?"
Malic` glares silently at Arkadi's ear...unable to focus on his face
<ST`> The Maiden fingers her writhing-in-torment-earrings nervously.
<Arkadi> "Anyways, first issue is finding out who the traitor is."
<Arkadi> "Who didn't show?"
<Malic`> "Why couldn't the back stabbing rat-sired bastard show up?"
Malic` got that one out alright, but seems to have planned it
<Arkadi> "Alternatively, who looked...unshocked at the news?"
Arkadi has produced a notepad from somewhere on his person
<ST`> "Hm."
<Arkadi> (brb)
<ST`> Between the two elder Sidereals, the Circle quickly compiles a list of those absent or unsurprised.
<ST`> Two names stand out as starkly as though they were written in red: Chandariva Bereaved and Descending Starmetal Scholar.
<Gia> "Descending Starmetal Scholar was on the list of people who know about Underworld Astrology," observes Gia.
<Malic`> "So was..that Blue."
Arkadi scratches his chin
<Gia> "The Green Lady and Ten Thousand Virtues were, also." Gia wrinkles her nose. "Everyone know that they're Deathlord sympathizers."
<ST`> "Those two are trustworthy," Shadow asserts. "They're our agents on the inside."
<Arkadi> "...heh."
Arkadi looks at the names
<Arkadi> "I'm going to need a look at their personnel files."
<Malic`> "Lets talk to...that Blue.."
Gia looks somewhat skeptical at Black Ice Shadow's assertion, but doesn't say anything.
<ST`> "I haven't seen the other two in a while, though. When you have a change, you should check them out. The personnel files are in the Forbidding Manse, of course." He twitches a bit. "If you'll excuse me..."
<Arkadi> "Right..."
Arkadi ponders
<Arkadi> "I'm gonna try talking to Lytek, too."
<ST`> *chance
<Malic`> "That..creepy old..he tried to pet me damnit.."
<Arkadi> "He might be able to give us a little info that's not in the files."
<Arkadi> "Could be worse...I was talking to that new yellow last week, what's-her-name...Aria somethingorother..."
<ST`> The Maiden observes before she departs, "I hear he keeps a garden of particularly meaningful memories."
<Gia> "Wait!" Gia exclaims as the Maiden turns to leave.
<Arkadi> "Let's put it this way...you know how some people check on the rump muscle of a racehorse?"
Gia flushes slightly, composes herself and lowers her eyes respectfully.
<Gia> "Has there been no word of brother Osprey, yet?"
<ST`> The Maiden pauses, balanced precariously on a newly opened business.
<Malic`> "Aw, she was checking your rump muscles. Thats...um. Yeah, where's him.."
<ST`> "He's somewhere in the House of Pleasures. Something ...strange...happened to him in the grey field. I'm told he is recovering."
Gia lets out an almost inaudible sigh of relief. "Thank you."
Arkadi ponders making a smartass remark about that...but holds his tongue
<Malic`> "I think we should all..um. Sleep. Meet tomorrow. Or the day after."
Gia bows politely to the Maiden. "I apologize for addressing you so indecorously... I was worried for our comrade."
<ST`> The Maiden nods. "Of course. If you'll pardon me, there are Lunars I have to confuse." She bows a farewell.
Gia watches the red-robed woman depart.
<Arkadi> "Your call, I'll see if I can get an appointment with Lytek. You BOTH are coming with me."
Gia looks nonplussed at Arkadi's blunt command, but swallows whatever tart remark she was going to make... for now.
Arkadi is startign to feel a little better...*THIS* is more his style...a murder investigation!
<ST`> -----
Gia raps lightly on the door to Lytek's offices, a look of resignation on her face.
<ST`> The door opens just a crack, then Lytek swings it wide. "Esara Gia! You're a little ahead of sched--" He pokes her. "You're alive, you're alive! Come in."
Arkadi rubs his temples
<Arkadi> "Here we go again..."
Arkadi swings around from behind Gia
Gia manages a highly convincing, sunny smile.
<Gia> "Why, however else would I be, Lytek?" She deftly steps inside the door, in the process preventing Lytek from putting his hands anywhere on her body they shouldn't be.
<ST`> Lytek sizes up the three Sidereals, muttering, "Yes, these three are coming along nicely..."
Arkadi nods to Lytek "'morning."
Malic` stays out of Lytek's reach, looking sullenly cheerful.
Malic` nods to the glowing golden god.
Gia looks around Lytek's tastefully-furnished office; however much she dislikes the god himself, she must admit he has good taste.
Arkadi rummages around and pulls out his notepad
<ST`> "You could be just about anyone, Gia! But I'm glad you're not. What brings you three here?"
Gia distractedly wonders how much it would cost to have Lytek's decorator remodel her Manse.
<Arkadi> "Well, I assume you heard abotu that circle of siddies that got wiped out by the deadboys?"
<ST`> He nods gravely.
<Arkadi> "We're investigating. We need some information about these individuals."
Arkadi hands Lytek a list of names
Gia blinks, and abruptly stops stroking the oak panelling of the wall.
<ST`> "Hm. What kind of information? All my records are also available at the Division of Secrets' record hall."
<Arkadi> "Personalities."
<Gia> With a quiet *ahem*, Gia turns her attention back to Lytek.
<Arkadi> "Fears. Psychological weakspots...and of course, are any of them sneaky, backstabbign, double-delaing assholes?"
<ST`> "I'll see what I can do. Hm! You should keep an eye out for Into The Fire. In his last incarnation he went mad and nearly destroyed Gem."
<Arkadi> "..."
<Arkadi> "Wonderful. Any of them sympathetic to the deadboys?"
<ST`> "I think there's something a little unstable in his shard that I haven't been able to clean out."
<ST`> "Well."
<Arkadi> "...I don't dare ask about mine...but moving right along..."
Gia smiles brightly at the Right Hand of Power. "Perhaps you could also tell us about those who recently fell in the West?"
<ST`> "A lot of these have been around for a long time; I think that Ayam Rendang, for instance, was born before the deathknights emerged."
<Gia> "Surely you have learned much from their Exaltations; you take such great care and pride in your work that you must have made inquiries."
Malic` wanders over to a glowing cabinent and peers at it intently. Noticing a keyhole he tries to see inside...
Gia takes a step closer to Lytek, stopping just outside arm's reach.
<ST`> "Gia. I haven't had a chance to review and cleanse those shards as yet, so you know as much as I do. What inquiries are you suggesting?"
<Gia> "You must be curious about how your careful handiwork was undone."
Gia stops just short of batting her eyes at the glowing god.
<ST`> "Oh yes, always."
<Gia> "I'm surprised that you aren't already hot on the trail of the ones who slew these Exalted."
Malic` keeps trying to see inside the cabinent
<Gia> "If you do learn anything about who killed them or how, please tell us as soon as you can."
<ST`> The cabinets are full of jars. Each jar is empty, or contains a weird, flichering something.
Malic` picks one of the jars up and shakes it idly.
Gia moves just a bit closer, and lays a hand on the shimmery, embroidered fabric of Lytek's sleeve.
<Gia> "If you would be willing to do us a tremendous favor..." she begins.
<ST`> "I'll let you know everything I find. Arkadi, I will send along my comments on these Exalted along with my research for your friend, if you will."
<Gia> "..please keep anything very important you find from becoming public knowledge."
<ST`> The god changes color slightly, and loses definition in some of his transparent features. "I'd be happy to."
Malic` rattles the jar once more, trying to determine who the glowing spark is, exactly.
<Gia> "It would be very... bad... if the wrong people were to find out too much about this."
<ST`> The jar suddenly becomes hot and bright for just a moment. Malic drops it to the counter in surprise.
<ST`> "Malic, don't touch things. It's not really a good idea."
Malic` blows on his hands. "Bloody bastard! When he's born, I'll kill him!"
Gia gives Malic a brief glare, then turns back to Lytek, smile firmly in place once more.
<Arkadi> "No, you won't, Mal."
<Arkadi> "Sorry about that."
<ST`> The god looks over at Gia, and repeats his airy rendition of a blush. "Don't worry."
Gia mimes relief.
<Gia> "Thank you very much, Lytek." She sways a bit closer, stroking her hand down his sleeve before stepping back.
<ST`> A small god appears in another door with a list of Dynastic names. "These are the births of the week, sir."
Gia looks at Arkadi. "Was there anything else we needed here, Arkadi?"
<Arkadi> "Nope. just here for the personality profiles."
Malic` glares menacingly at the jar.
<ST`> The light in the jar arranges its pseudopodia to resemble a face with its tongue stuck out, for just long enough for Malic to notice.
Malic` makes a move toward the jar, one fist clinched.
Gia backs toward the door, carefully bowing just deeply enough to show the proper respect, without also showing Lytek what she's wearing under her blouse.
<Arkadi> "Malic, touch that jar, and I'll have you borught up on charges."
Arkadi doesn't even look up from his notepad
Malic` grumbles darkly.
<Gia> "We thank you for your time, honored Lytek."
<ST`> "Well, thanks for coming to visit. Come back soon! (Excellently indeed.)"
<Malic`> "If I find out who that is..."
<ST`> "I'm glad to help."
Arkadi nods to Lytek "Thanks for the help,"
<Arkadi> "Give me a shout if anyone I know is due to Exalt."
<Arkadi> "and put me down for 5 bucks on Cathak Vanal's kid exalting."
Gia reaches behind herself and opens the door.
<Gia> With one last bow, she slips out of the office.
Arkadi nods to the God fo Exaltation, and take shis leave
Malic` makes an obscene guesture at the jar while Lytek isn't looking and leaves the office.
<Gia> After the door clicks shut, Gia grimaces.
Gia wipes the hand that was touching Lytek off on her skirt.
<Gia> "Well, that was relatively painless."
<Arkadi> "hopefully we'll get the information in a timely manner."
Malic` mutters about jars and shards and death
<Gia> "You were the one poking around where you shouldn't have been," Gia admonishes him.
<Arkadi> "Malic, those were shards. Don't toy with them. You're lucky you're still concious."
<Malic`> "Just a shard.."
<Malic`> "What's it care if I was looking at it?"
<Malic`> "Not even that smart.."
<Gia> "Smart enough to get the better of you." Gia makes a sound suspiciously reminiscent of a stifled giggle.
<Gia> "Ahem."
<Arkadi> "Okay, moving right along...Secretsville for the personnel files."
Arkadi is visibly energized
Gia puts a finger to her lips. "I know some people in that subdepartment; I may be able to pull some strings so we don't have to fill out all the paperwork."
<Arkadi> "Perfect, cuts that out...you CAN trust them to keep their mouths shut, right?"
Gia gives Arkadi a reproving look.
<Arkadi> "right, bureau of secrets, dumb question."
<Gia> "They're from the Division of *Secrets*, Arkadi. Keeping their mouths shut is what they *do.*"
Gia smiles. "Realizing one's own shortcomings is the first step to enlightenment, I've heard."
<Gia> "It would be good if we could avoid other foolish questions while we're in the Forbidding Manse..."
Gia looks askance at Malic.
<Gia> "...or foolish actions."
<Arkadi> "Hey, I did- still *do* this for a living, give me some credit."
Gia nods distractedly. "While we're there, Malic... please don't touch anything."
<Gia> "Especially if it glows."
Malic glowers silently.
<Gia> ----
<ST`> The Forbidding Mane's guards wave the three Sidereals through when they recognize Gia.
<ST`> Inside, it is another story.
Gia ducks to keep from bumping her head on the lintel of the tiny door which leads through the Manse's looming, ivy-covered wall.
Arkadi forgets to "OW!"
<ST`> "Identify yourselves," demands a misshapen root hanging from the ceiling. It looks somewhat like an asymmetrical child.
<Arkadi> "Arkadi, Scarlet Escort of Resentment."
Gia straightens up, surreptitiously rubbing her back -- the tunnel leading through the shield wall is at least 20 yards long.
<Gia> "Esara Gia."
<Malic> "Malic."
<Gia> "How are you today, Magnificent Dendrite?" Gia addresses the root companionably.
<ST`> "Well, thank you. Please provide us with something you have never told anyone else," it continues, following standard Manse operating procedure.
Gia glances at the two men, then steps forward and leans in close to the root's "head."
<Gia> She whispers something to it, shielding her mouth with a raised hand.
Gia steps back and makes a little gesture to Arkadi and Malic.
<Arkadi> "I think she's makign fun of us."
<ST`> The root snickers.
<Arkadi> "she is."
Malic sidles up to the root and whispers quietly to it in Flametongue.
Arkadi mutters various riverspeak curses
Arkadi walks up to the root...and whispers somethign VERY quietly to it
<ST`> The root waves the three through, apparently satisfied that they are who they claim.
Gia goes to one of the walls, and feels around on the apparently blank stone. A secret door slides open.
<Gia> She confidently leads the two men through a series of narrow, mazelike corridors which seem specifically designed to give the impression of going round and round in circles.
<Malic> "You could play such an incredible relay in this place.."
<Arkadi> "I hate this place."
Gia gulps as a multilegged spider god rounds the corner just ahead of them, travelling in the opposite direction.
<Gia> She presses herself against the wall as it approaches; the purple-eyed arachnid climbs up onto the opposite wall.
<Gia> It moves bristly pedipalps in apology as it squeezes past.
Gia manages a courteous nod, her face visibly whitening as its hairy carapace passes only an inch away from her.
Arkadi pats Gia on the shoulder "Why don't you give it a good morning kiss?"
<Malic> "I thought you hated spiders too. If you've reformed, I have some recipies at home.."
<Gia> "Eek!" Gia literally jumps when she feels something touch her shoulder.
<Arkadi> "I don't like 'em, I'm not afraid of them..."
Gia flushes almost purple.
<Arkadi> "Er...sorry, Gia."
<Gia> "Let's... let's move on." She takes a somewhat uneven breath and continues down the hall.
Gia turns her back on Arkadi and Malic, and hurries along.
<Gia> They manage to reach the end of the passage without further encounters, fortunately.
<Gia> The room into which they emerge looks just like the foyer, except without the root-god hanging from the ceiling.
<Malic> "Alright. We're not-there."
Gia quirks an eyebrow at him. By now, she appears fully recovered from her brush with multilegged terror.
<Arkadi> "Hmph."
<Arkadi> "Well, it's certainly more claustrophobic than the Panapoly."
<Gia> The sign of Saturn fades into view on her forehead, glowing bright emerald.
<Arkadi> ...
<Arkadi> you mena jupiter, right?
<Gia> An answering glow emanates from the floor.
<Gia> *Jupiter.
<Gia> (oops
<Gia> !)
<Gia> The sigil of Secrets flares up on the floor... which suddenly begins to drop.
<ST`> Vines burst from the floor and form a protective cage around the three Chosen; at points on its circumference there are arcane symbols and hidden controls. Gia moves from one panel to the next, steering the platform through the Manse's tunnels.
<Malic> "Is there a POINT to all this? The Barque isn't this way."
<Malic> "The Barque is sensible. Straight forward. It's a BOAT."
<ST`> Eventually they arive in the Multifoliate Raceme, the nerve centre of the Forbidding Manse's recordkeeping network.
<ST`> Gods and ensorcelled scrolls are think in the Raceme's catwalks, moving from one shelf to the next. The chamber widens as it gorws deeper, ending in a vertiginious abyss.
<Arkadi> "...I feel dizzy."
<Malic> "They want you to."
<Gia> "Then don't look down," Gia informs him tartly, obviously still smarting from the spider incident.
<Gia> "I'm sure Malic will hold your hand if it will make you less scared."
Arkadi rolls his eyes
Gia steps off the platform and onto the narrow, woody catwalk.
Arkadi makes a lewd gesture behing Gia's back and follows her
Malic follows along as well, looking idly at the library
<Gia> She walks confidently to the nearest large platform.
<Arkadi> "remind me to have a talk with your interior decorator..."
<Gia> As they approach, an enormous papyrus scroll unrolls itself, travelling across the floor toward them like a carpet.
<Gia> As it extends, inked designs spontaneously appear on its surface.
Malic looks at it, down at his boots...should he..walk on it? Oh. Nope.
<Gia> The markings sketch out a man's face, with words above it in neat Old Realm script.
<Gia> "Greetings, Costiseme of the Flowing Pen." Gia politely greets the scroll as it comes to a halt at her feet.
Malic waves to the scroll
Arkadi nods to it
<ST`> The scroll unrolls a little more, depicting the same man in full figure, bowing politely. "Greetings, Chosen Gia. Friends or enemies?"
<Gia> "Friends, of course!"
<Gia> "This is Malic, Heliotrope Coefficient of Rejoinders, and Arkadi, Scarlet Escort of Resentment."
<ST`> The word "good" appears, and then a drawing of gesticulating hands. --What brings you three Chosen to the Raceme today?--
<Gia> "We've come to make some inquiries about personnel files."
<ST`> --Inquiries, eh. Well, you've come to the right person.-- Somehow, the tidy calligraphy makes it seem as if it sees this as a vastly important piece of news.
Gia leans down a bit, and smiles at the scroll-god. "Do you think you could... expedite for us?"
<Gia> "We're in a bit of a hurry; another member of our Circle was... injured... and we have yet to check in on him."
<ST`> A drawing of shifty eyes. --For you, I can bend some rules. Whose files do you need?--
Gia glances at Arkadi.
<Malic> "a Blue, Ca*something* Bereaved and another Sidereal...what was his name, Ark?"
<Arkadi> "Chandariva Bereaved and Descending Starmetal Scholar"
Arkadi flips through his notepad
<Arkadi> I'm going to need their duty assignments, their areas of expertise..."
<ST`> Several small drawings in sequence show the man nodding and taking out a notepad of his own. A list appears beside them, copying down the items of information Arkadi asks for.
<Arkadi> "And, if you've got the info...their gate use for the past...year."
<Arkadi> "And of course, their generic personnel files...you know the score."
<ST`> --The gate use record will take a little longer to produce.-- The accompanying picture for this comment has a slightly reproving expression.
Arkadi nods "I understand that. But still, the sooner, the better."
<Malic> "We have...friend-like-gods in the Department of Enforcement, we can talk with them for the gate records."
Arkadi snaps his fingers
<Arkadi> "I forgot about Lenny!"
<ST`> --Gia, will you be able to retrieve these records once I have collected them? I do not find life outside the Manse particularly to my liking.--
Gia nods. "Of course. Send a message when you have them, and I'll stop by. I'll even bring you a little something for your troubles." She gives the papyrus sheet a coy wink.
<ST`> --Excellent.--
Gia reaches over to a nearby writing desk and picks up a pen.
<Gia> She dips it into a pot of red ink, kneels down, and draws a little pair of lip-marks on the cheek of Costiseme's inked profile.
<Gia> "Until then."
Gia puts the pen back.
<ST`> "Be safe. Don't tease anything that looks like it could eat you."
<ST`> --...--
<Arkadi> "Huh."
Arkadi sticks a cigarette in his mouth...then pauses... "erm, yeah...library. I'll light up outside."
<ST`> The tunnal seems much less winding on the way out, as do the mossy, root-webbed halls. Soon the Chosen are blinking under the bright light of the adamant sky again.
Arkadi then lights up
<Arkadi> "Well then..."
