  • Carmine Rain Hunter steps into Febrisa's office with the most dignity he can muster, having only just returned from facing the Sevsimtali. His wounds had been bandaged, and most of the blood hastily wiped off of his armor, but some persisted in the joints, lending it a dulled, ragged appearance. He stands straight, shield slung on his back, the one intact spear leaning against his shoulder.
  • Carmine Rain Hunter clears his throat to draw her attention.

Febrisa: "Yes, Kinqueduran? Ah, you're back. What is your report?" The Lesser Fire Dragon turns her massive head to face you, eyes glowing faintly with interest. As she settles the foremost portion of her serpentine body, the rest is uncoiling from the muscular shoulders and chest of a Celestial Lion, who bows his gold-maned head to you as he pads from the office cathedral.

  • Carmine Rain Hunter coughs slightly, watching the Celestial Lion go before speaking. "I didn't interrupt anything, did I?"

Febrisa: "Oh, no. I was just getting a report from Bronze Sanction. Now, what did you have to report?"

Carmine Rain Hunter: "If it's alright with you, I'll report from across the room."

  • Febrisa quickly coils her lower half into a great circle behind her desk, peering carefully at you from all sides, as her head makes its routine course around your body. As you retreat, it follows you. "That's fine."
  • Carmine Rain Hunter leans rather heavily against the wall. "One demon, not a variety I'm terribly familiar with - big and gooey. The village was gone, but I got the name of a Deathlord from the demon before it perished."
  • Febrisa lets out a puff of smoke that surrounds your head in black for a moment. "Really? Which?"
  • Carmine Rain Hunter draws out his notebook, thumbing through it. "The Wailing Daughter of Light and Silence."
  • Febrisa coils back a bit, wavering in the air as if considering. "I don't recall much about her. Try to find out what she's up to."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "I'm afraid I was never good at finding information..."

Febrisa: "She lives somewhere close to where I sent you. Though she moves around, she stays in the general area."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "Then I am to return?"

Febrisa: "If that is what it takes for you to learn of her. Also, what of this demon? Did it say anything else? You don't look hurt..."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "I may not look hurt, but I feel hurt." He slid down to a bench, wincing. "It didn't say much of significance. He was allegedly summoned just to see if he could be."

Febrisa: "Well of course a Deathlord can summon a demon. What did you call it? A Sevsimtali? Those are...well, I think they're rather rare...the Itinerants summon them sometimes."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "I must admit, it piqued my curiosity. Had I been more prepared, I feel confident in saying that I could have dispatched the demon in less than half the time."

  • Febrisa frowns at you, displaying an impressive array of white teeth "Then you should prepare yourself better! You know that. If you're not going to follow the proper procedure for dealing with rampaging demons in the artic wastes.."
  • Carmine Rain Hunter lifts a finger, shaking it back and forth. "Ah-ah, you sent me in quite a hurry, darling. I was under the impression that time was of the essence, and that the risk was acceptable."
  • Febrisa huffs a puff of ash in your direction. "You should *always* follow proper procedure for rampaging demons."
  • Carmine Rain Hunter puts up his hands defensively, looking down. "Yes, yes, yes. I suppose I learned that the hard way."

Febrisa: "Well, if you aren't physically or mystically injured, I can't dock your pay..but I will write a nasty writ about this and append it to your soul for the next few years. You should know better. You said you feel injured, though?"

  • Carmine Rain Hunter smiles thinly and responds without the slightest hint of sarcasm. "Yes, I feel injured, because I was injured. I'm fine, though, just clawed and gnawed within an inch of my life. I'll heal."

Febrisa: "Well, then. Consider yourself on probation then for reckless disregard of bureau resources. And you still get the writ." The flaming red eyes soften a bit. "Do you need a wood-elemental for the wounds? Was there collateral damage?"

Carmine Rain Hunter: "Collateral damage..." He exhales thoughtfully. "It broke two of my spears."

Febrisa: "I'll include that in the writ. But an acceptable loss for a demon."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "Well, they were just bamboo and bronze. They're disposable."

Febrisa: "Anything else?"

Carmine Rain Hunter: "The village was already in the demon's belly by the time I arrived. Following policy would have no bearing at all on that, though."

Febrisa: "Unfortunate. Well. Try to do better next time, and mind the procedures for dealing with rampaging demons! Now, go find what you can about this matter. Maybe the Great Library of Jovian Stars would be of help for once.."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "We can only hope..."

Febrisa: "It is more help if you actually go inside."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "Well, of course, it's just that..."

Febrisa: "Enough! I need to ponder. And you have research to do."

  • Carmine Rain Hunter chuckles. "Of course. You've things to smolder over and I've work to do. I'll see you in the near future, no doubt."

Febrisa: "Of course." Withdrawing to her desk, the huge dragon coils into a nest and begins hissing quietly as she promptly settles down to nap.

  • Carmine Rain Hunter retires as quietly as possible, stopping by his apartment to drop off some things, then traveling straight to the library.

  • Carmine Rain Hunter returns to Office 6, the coarse off-white poncho pulled up on one shoulder to expose one arm and the bag full of various odds and ends.
  • Febrisa rises from a coil in one corner of her office, looking warily at the intruder and hissing. "Oh, its just you, is it? Did the Library go well?"
  • Febrisa coils herself a few times tightly about something in the corner, extending only a bit of her neck forward to peer at you
  • Carmine Rain Hunter cranes his neck slightly, studying her posture for a moment, then shrugging. "Tedious. Informative, though."

Kinqueduran catches a glimpse of rounded objects in the midst of Febrisa's coils, mottled scarlet-gold ovids, shining slightly with an internal fire. The dragon hurriedly covers them with her body as she nods her massive head. "Good..good. You remember Seiche, don't you? The overseer of recovering disasters."

  • Carmine Rain Hunter decides not to pry and nods a little. "Right...I think so."

Febrisa: "I've been trying to find a liaison to work with her department. Are you interested? She seemed to favor you among the candidates."

  • Carmine Rain Hunter blinks, utterly unable to fathom why he would be a favored candidate. "Well, I suppose I could do that...you have been on me to spend time on things besides killing..."

Febrisa: "Yes, you really should. And I think you and Seiche would get along well. It'd be useful for you to have contact with someone outside the office."

  • Carmine Rain Hunter nods. "Alright, I'll see to it, I suppose..."

Febrisa: "Let me know how it goes."

Carmine Rain Hunter: "...right. Well, I'm sure it'll be fine. Fill out a few forms, pretend that we're friends, the usual."

  • Febrisa gives a hissing laugh. "On your way then.."
