⚠ <p>Mai and JT part to feed, and Mai also sends her retainer, Mark, into Winsor as an escape route should she need it. JT and Mai reconvene and the Ren Center, where JT obtains a car, and the two go over Ambassador bridge into Sabbat territory.
⚠ <p>JT parks a block or so away from the clinic, and Mai proceeds to leave her body in JT's good hands. She sends her mind through the entire clinic, starting with the first floor. On the second floor she finds dormitories filled with sleeping people who aren't dreaming. She does not linger long because of the 3 hour wait at the border putting them behind schedule. Mai finally proceeds to the basement. She finds a room with a corner.
⚠ <p>In the room with the corner are 5 boxes of auras and an oblong aura in the center, but no books. Mai prepares to move on in her search for the books when she hears a voice directy inside her head that says "leaving so soon?".
⚠ <p>Mai hurries back to her body as earthquakes seem to happen all around her. She leaps back in and tells JT what she saw.
⚠ <p>JT decides someone is trying to speak with them and goes to the clinic. Mai waits in the car as he goes in alone. Mai drives the car back to the spot a block away and waits. Later, she hears a knocking on her windshield and an aura flashes by. Thinking it's JT, she tries to follow it. He is thinking "must get to the river!" so she thinks he has some escape plan.
⚠ <p>Then Mai notices 50 or so people in hospital gowns running after the car and keeping up fairly well. She gets a frantic call from Mark and tells him to keep driving.
⚠ <p>As Mai realizes JT is about to dive into the river, Mai turns back and crosses the border the way people with cars normally cross, the bridge. On the bridge, Mai runs into trouble as a pick up truck slams into the rear of her car and two guys get out and start breaking into the car. Mai honks and the border patrolman comes along and asks Mai to step out of the car.
⚠ <p>Mai is very persuasive in convincing him that she should just be allowed to cross, and she proceeds across the border on foot. She ends up at Qasi's and receives a call from JT in response to her call when she was being attacked.
⚠ <p>Knowing they are both relatively well, they decide to discuss things late the next evening.
⚠ <p>In the early evening, Mai meets with her sire and discusses the discovery and exact location of the clinic. She also asks about Alicia and mentions her concerns. Finally, Mai also learns that the city officially has no sheriff, and the scourge has been missing for several months. Mai resolves to speak to the prince about this and the clinic's proximity at the next opportunity, which appears to be the ball on devil's night. Mai's sire warns her to dress up in a costume at the ball.
⚠ <p>Mai entertains ideas of what sort of costume to wear, and calls Mark to see if he's alive. He is, but he's still being chased by the people in hospital gowns, and is tired and almost out of gas. Thank God he drives a hybrid, Mai thinks, and calls JT to ask him about what drew the patients out of the clinic.
⚠ <p>Mai drives to the park JT is at and picks him up. As the two drive towards where Mark last said he was, JT mentions that he maybe took a little Vitae from one of the centrifuges hooked up to this guy in the room with the corner. And maybe he also poked the guy once or twice.
Mai and JT race towards Mark with the intention that JT will hide Mark once within proximity, but the horizon begins to darken, and the buildings around them begin to disappear and the freeway begins to tie itself into knots and it becomes clear they are stuck in a Malkavian storm of delirium or something.
⚠ <p>JT appears pleased that he wants to talk with them and Mai pulls over, seeing no other option but to drive off the freeway.
⚠ <p>They sit for the longest time, waiting for the guy to come and talk to them. He often appears about 100 yards behind them, but never really approaches. Meanwhile, the freeway gets more fucked up.
⚠ <p>Mai begins receiving phone calls on a static-y line, and tells them that there is a bad storm. Manfred sounds like he's going to come and find Mai and JT but Mai suggests not doing so since there are no directions anymore. Jenny says something along the lines of "I hope I see you tomorrow night, then" which Mai takes to mean Jenny is sure she and JT are going to die. Everyone says stuff like "It's not reality" which is supposed to make Mai calmer, but is actually making her more frantic.
⚠ <p>JT puts the car in reverse and attempts to leave the storm, but the car rolls off the freeway. Mai and JT find themselves on a grassy slope. The guy is behind them. JT turns into a bat and attempts to fly to the guy several times, but keeps nosediving.
⚠ <p>Mai shouts at JT and says "I don't think he wants to talk to you!"
⚠ <p>"I want to talk to Jenny" says the disembodied voice.
⚠ <p>Manfred
⚠ <p>After the Tremere finish reinforcing the wards of the chantries, Abraham consels us that something is attacking the wards. If any of the clan should be aware of who or what it is we should let him know, he looks at Manfred at this statement. Since Manfred seems to be the most informed of the clan (usually involved in or happenstance screwed from whatever is ussually going on.)
⚠ <p>Manfred goes to the jefferson house to look at a bood sample that Jt has collected, Randolph is once again very hostile to Manfred. It is curious mostly kindred plasma. Without more info though it yeilds no more information. Manfred goes back to the Garden City chantry to sleep.
⚠ <p>Manfred awakens the next night and has a conversation with Christian that determines Christian is mostly clueless with current events. he has spent most of his time refinishing an antique desk. After a bit Manfred gets a call from Jenny, she tells him there is magical strom and mai and JT are going to die. Manfred calls Mai, she confirms it, she is going to die. Manfred asks her to explain what it is going on. She rambles something about an MC Esher work. Manfred asserts that it is Old Malk and she needs to will through it. She seems like she is panicking. Hopefully she does she would be better of frenzing since most powers of dominate and dementation seem less effective over frenzed kindred.
