JT still remembers the non-stop pecking at the old-fashioned typewriter that Irving kept in his home. You see, Esmeralda knew quite a bit about the dealings of Irving (even as a Ghoul at this time) since she transposed Irving scriblings and the conversations of Kindred throughout Detroit (via the server setup to monitor their phone conversations).
JT may have had something to do with the above monitoring devices but gave up on the notion of meaningful conversations after reading hundreds of hours on Toreador beauty product conversations...and the true elders of the city either didn't use a phone or knew when they were being monitored...
Esmeralda is only a recent Kindred of 8th generation, sired in the late 80s by Irving deSeversky. However, she is quite old in the sense that JT recalls her talking about the days of the American Civil War and her underground work moving the slaves of the south into...well, I presume, into her sire's belly.
Esmeralda is currently a minor Primogen in the courts as the Nosferatu clan as a whole was perceived as too strong even for a city known as Detroit. Although many many remnants of the Nosferatu history of Detroit remain (re-urbanization movements), the Nosferatu have made choices to remain unseen and out-of-play for the most part as they show (with recent persecution) that other Kindred tend to blame them.
Esmeralda is one of the few Nosferatu to make regular public appearances.
