⚠ <p>June 5th,1999 around 1:00 am.
⚠ <p>Randolph and Manfred are conversing in the lab. They have just combined the various sources to find they fight each other. We hear someone walking up to the door. Randolph immediately starts to pull all the samples in the room together, and hides them in his briefcase. There is a knock at the door. Momentarily they wait to see if it goes away. Then tenatively Randolph opens the door. It is Winston MacDonald.
⚠ <p>He comes in and wants to know what they have learned. He says it has been about an hour since Tom Left them. It seems that It has been longer than that, but they skirt the issue finally telling Winston what was found. A crash is heard outside.
⚠ <p>Moments later they hear footsteps running toward them. The door immplodes to reveal once again a panicing Strauss. He is spouting some drivel about "he's back" over and over. Manfred and Winston warn straus to calm down. Winston tells Strauss that what he is sensing is Randolph's sample and nothing more.
⚠ <p>The next group to try crashing the party is two security guards, Manfred goes to fix it. Before he is ableStrauss dominates them, and they end up with one weting himself on the floor and the other passing out. Winston and Manfred admonish Struas. Winston says he will stay with Straus to clean this up. Manfred and Randolph leave.
⚠ <p>Meanwhile, at the abandoned hotel, the group assesses the new situation. The room, momentarily, seems to have quieted. Jenny informs JT that the blood in the bowl is his. Mai confirms this and JT acts quite sure that it's not his. JT and Mai stand inside the room and talk about what just happened. As they argue, the blood in the circle dissapears, the bodies shrivel and turn to dust and then the floor begins to sag slightly. A mist begins to descend on the room.
⚠ <p>Finally JT and Mai get the bright idea to leave the room however, when we step outside, the mist appears to disappear and the room becomes normal as far as Mai can tell. Still, she believes it's best Manfred come and determine what just happened from his point of view, being the only one of us with any knowlege of such things.
⚠ <p>1:30 am.
⚠ <p>Brefiely they discuss the accident (the crash before struas arrived) in the parking lot before leaving. Manfred recieves a call from Mai. She explains that she was trying follow Manfred's instructions but someone interfered believe Mai was causing something bad. She explains that things look very bad and Manfred's presence is required. She then hangs up as the others in background start making incriminating remarks. After a moment Manfred calls back to find out if bringing the rest of the tremer in is neccasary. While jenny is in the back saying that he should Mai says she doesn't think so but Manfred should reappraise once he is there. It sounds reasonable to him.
⚠ <p> At the abandoned hotel, Mai is instantly made to regret putting a low priority on things as she notices Jenny slip into the room. The group growls at Jenny to get back out but she does not listen. Jenny steps near the circle and the aura of the room fluctuates. "Bad stuff" starts happening again. JT decides to put a stop to what Jenny is doing, but Jenny masks herself making her invisible to JT. Jenny begins to pour her blood into the circle.
⚠ <P> [Jenny] Sorry, but some things are just plain wrong in the previouse paragraphs. First, once we where all out of the room, we began argueing about the "cat", the bowl, the blood, etc. I remeber that Jenny had initially gone into the room to try and spirit touch the spilled blood from the bowl, determined that it was JT's, and found her self sinking into the floor and left, for example. Also, while Jenny did enter the room and the circle with the bowl of JT's blood, she has not YET spilled any blood anywhere.
⚠ <p>2:00 am.
⚠ <p>Randolph and Manfred arrive at the abandoned hotel. We go in. Mai races down the steps and says that Jenny is in the room about to put her blood on the floor. Mai, Randolph, and Manfred walk up to the ballroom. Aidenis leaning on the door. JT is standing holding a stick. jenny is nowhere to be seen. Manfred sees blood pouring out of nowhere and draws it from the room and allows it the pool at his feet. he begins telling Jenny to come out of the room. She doesn't listen. He comprehends that a huge mystic simbol, (the same simbol that is on the blood cells of the elder Malkavian) is haning in the middle of the room. Manfred becomes more insistant that she leaves the room.
⚠ <P> [Jenny] Ok, some things may have been hard for other people to see and understand, so let me clear this up a bit. First off, Jenny waited for Manfred to arrive before she did ANYTHING other than Obfuscate her self and the bowl in the center of the circle. She had pleaded with Manfred about bring more of his "family" to this location, but he did not, he just arrived with Randolph.
⚠ <p>Manfred begins yelling about the research he and Randolf just conducted and something along the lines of this is what Marcellus was trying to accomplish, making Mai more resolute that whatever it is should be stopped. Jenny has other plans...
⚠ <p>Instead of the leaving she throws the bowl at Manfred. Jt steps in the way and Aiden goes into the room and joins Jenny and so then does JT. Manfred becoming convinced they have lost thier minds stand disbelieving what they are doing. He begs them to stop. as some of Jenny's blood falls into the circle the room fluxes and hot air and orange light starts coming up through the floor boards.
⚠ <P> [Jenny} Now, uncertain as to what exactly JT's blood had in relation to the circle, (and not even considering bleeding out JT to find out), Jenny attempted to pour the blood in the bowl, (JT's), into the circle to re-create the strange effects the rest of us, (JT, Mai, myself and Adian) had noticed earlier. As I pour the blood, apparently Manfred decides he can not allow this, and thru mystical means draws the blood out of the circle before it can hit the floor. Angered by Manfreds lack of trust, (after all, it was ME in the circle!), Jenny throws the now empty bowl at Manfred, thereby becoming visible. For some reason, JT dives in between Jeny and Manfred, intercepting the bowl.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] I believe a bit of shouting at each other began, with Manfred trying to make Jenny aware of the "discoveries" he and Randolph had just recently made. Furiouse now at both JT and Manfred, Jenny decides to Obfuscate again, and this time use HER blood to see what happens.
⚠ <P> [Jenny] Something begins to take effect in the room of a Mystical nature. It quickly becomes apparent that what she has done in a moment of anger and spite is to open a portal to the Mad Malk! THIS WAS NEVER HER INTENTION! Quickly considering her options, she decides that everyones best chance is to confront the Mad Malk, in hope that we could, as a group, drive him back.
⚠ <p>Mai watches as JT and Aiden decide that being unable to stop Jenny, they'll join her instead. Mai yells at them to stop helping Jenny do whatever fatalistic thing it appears Jenny is doing and a short philosophical discussion ensues about causality. In short, Aiden believes that they are fated to do something with the circle, so they'd might as well. Mai argues that we still do have control over our actions and to be reasonable would be the best thing. Mai concludes in her own mind that it's evident that either many of the coterie are fatalists or are not strong willed enough to resist the influence of this Malkavian elder.
⚠ <p>Jt starts mixing his and Jenny's blood in the bowl, and pours it on the floor. Manfred uses cauldron of blood to burn the blood up. The floor in the circle starts to fall away and Jt starts to be pulled into the floor. He turns into mist in order to escape. Manfred tries to attack the beast but without crossing through, he is unable to. the floor starts to open up and another claw comes up through and grabs the floor.
⚠ <p>Manfred hands Randolph and Mai empowered stakes and moves into the room. he puts a rose petal on the end of his stake and attacks the claw. Randolph steps on the stake to help push it into the claw. Manfred asks Randolph to put some the sample of Archimedes blood on the claw, he does. Manfred asks Randolph then to put some on the floor in the circle. Jenny tries to bite and start sucking blood from the other claw which withdraws. Jt sees the beast coming up toward the opening. the claw on the floor begins to burn and smolder and the beast is unable to get out and retreats. It seems that we stoped it from escaping.
⚠ <p> As the beast attempts to escape, it brings an arm up into the air, which bursts into flame. Then another arm, which also bursts into flame. At one point, we even see an enormous head with eyes that glow (or burn, if you will). Then he falls.
⚠ <P> [Jenny] After this point, I think we are all clear on what happened. We all did what we believed we had to do. In the end, even Manfred helped drive the Mad Malk back with his Magic and advise to Randolph. Other than JT's bizzare behavior of consuming some of the Archemdietes blood sample, we finally kick the bastard back to where he belongs.
⚠ <p>Jenny at this point, demands out of the coterie. An inherent flaw in the contract is revealed as we realize there is a claus for the entire group disbanding, but not for one member leaving without consent of the rest of the group. Instead, we tell Jenny she's just not allowed to do that yet, without permision.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] Jenny realizes that her actions have gravely endangered everyone. Yet the Contract, which was supposed to prevent this from happening, failed to kick in. Why? Jenny begins to see that perhaps, thru her actions, that the contract has been broken. She decides to ask to be released from the contract as a means to move the disscusion some where else other than what currently happened. She also begins to come up with a plan.
⚠ <p>In the aftermath Manfred starts to berate those involved and is in turn verbally attacked, it seems Jenny is tremedously frustrated and has something up her sleave. Manfred starts to explain what is going on and what was uncovered in the reasearch. Aiden says we should go elsewhere and Mai stupidly offers her place.
⚠ <P> [Jenny] Jenny berates Manfred for his lack of creative thinking. Actually, she is hurt and pissed that he seems to have so little trust in her. She also begins to ponder just what it is that is happening in Detroit, and is struggling to come up with some plan of action that she can share with everyone. Adian suggests that we take this discussion some where else, and Jenny heartedly agrees.
⚠ <p>As the others wrap up their argument, JT nods at the claw mark left behind on the floor of the room and suggests Mai spirit touch it. Mai goes in and does just that. She gets an image of herself reaching down through a portal, on flame. She feels the room, convinced the portal is not indeed closed.
⚠ <p>2:30 am.
⚠ <p>We pile into the escalade. Shortly later we notice we are being followed by Dotson Lady and a veritable gang. Randolph pulls some fancy driving and we go the the Ihop on Woodward avenue across from the Cathedral. The caravan following us pulls in stops gets out and levels shotguns and rifles at us, one of the them even has a flame thrower.
⚠ <p>2:45 am.
⚠ <p>Jenny gets out with Aiden, Jt, and Manfred. Jenny and JT move forward to speak with them. Jt isn't allowed to so only Jenny does.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] Jenny and JT aproach this large, heavily armed group of Kindred, and only Jenny is allowed to aproach the strange woman that has been following her. In the course of the conversation, Jenny learns a few things. First, that this group of Kindred seek to stop the Mad Malks plan of becoming Mortal, making Jenny Mortal, and conceving a Son with her. At no time they they speak of destroying him, just in stoping his plan. When Jenny asks how did they learn of this, the strange woman explains it had been passed onto her from other Kindred from the distant past.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] The woman then begins to demand that our group turn over the Tapestry to her group. Jenny begins to negotiate, ie delay until some brighter option comes along. Then the Child Malk shows up, and kiinforms everyone that the Tapestry was inside the Cathedrill next door to the parking lot we where at. Jenny imediately "plays" defeat, and the strange, heavily armed Kindred follow her. At some point in this whole mess, Jenny realizes that these new Kindred are indeed Sabbot.
⚠ <p>Manfred looks at Mai and starts pointing at his head, so Mai listens in. Manfred is suggesting Mai warn the authorities that there are several sabbat in the city. Mai sort of shakes her head at this, knowing there's been sabbat in the city all along. Without sabbat around to "protect us from" what is a prince needed for? Aside from which, although they have guns, they are not threatening the group and the group appears to be conversing, which is good, because we need some information which they can give.
⚠ <p>After a few moments Manfred notices Ebby walking towards them and soon the gang and ebby are going into the cathedral. Jenny and JT come back to the car. Mai has deemed not to call and inform the prince that this gang is certianly Sabat. This is because Mai's night has just gotten a lot better. The best possible show could be the sabbat versus the Malkavians.
⚠ <p>We resolve that Jenny, Manfred, Aiden, and Jt will go up to the Cathedral and observe. we stop near the door. Inside they ask Bishop Mendalson for the tapestry on the altar that looks like THE tapestry. to Manfred it doesn't look quite right. Mendalson gives it to them. They attack him. He stands unscathed. The Man with the flame thrower steps forward and opens up. Manfred attacks him with cauldron of blood he screams and staggers to the side. the Sabat gang begins to flee. Mendolson disappears, Manfred attacks a few more. Jenny is inside the door Hiding. Manfred and JT close the doors but the gang is able to push past us and run. JT slams the Dotson Lady to the floor. Manfred boils her blood, she staggers to her feet he boils more. She stagers and JT hits her again. he takes the tapestry from her, then he and Manfred leave.
⚠ <p> Outside by the escalade, Randolf gets out and goes to the sabbat's vehicles to slash the tires. Mai is a bit irked about this, but is more interested in the muffled gunshot sounds coming from the cathedral.
⚠ <p>3:00 am.
⚠ <p>Bishop Mendelson steps out of the shadows and starts walking toward the door. Jenny flees. As the doors shut we hear a scream from inside. Randolph and Mai pull up and we all leave. Randolph had disable the Sabat's vehicle and they seem upset with us. We continue on to Mai's
⚠ <p> [Jenny] Those who went in see some of the true power of Mendalson, and how easily he cows the Sabbat. JT manages to grab the "tapestry" before we all leave. Once safely away, he looks at the rather ordinary altar cloth it really is, and find that also sewn into it is a message, apparently for us.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] "Checkmate"
⚠ <p>3:30 am.
⚠ <p>We arrive at Mai's manor, she sends he ghouls away. Mai establishes an order to the discussion. She recounts the events she had originally called Manfred about. Randolph and Manfred expalain thier findings.
⚠ <p>Mai asks Randolph to pay attention to anything sent by Marcellus to assure he isn't tricked into anything. After some thinking in the escalade, Mai is quite certain that Randolf or more likely his sire, Winston (childe of shamus might I remind us) is the partner Marcellus spoke of in the letter.. that the new lab is the aforementioned location, and that some surprise collateral will be there for Randolf.
⚠ <p>We spend some time talking about Jenny's actions. Jenny explains her viewpoint and part of the reasoning behind her actions to us... that she wishes to destroy the thing because clearly destroying the tapestry is not working... and that while one kindred alone cannot destroy it, perhaps our entire coterie can. However, she explains some of us are uncomfortable with facing it and therefore, she acted rashly so as to not allow us the time to consider our discomfort and instead be forced to act.
⚠ <p>While Mai sees her view on this, and it's certainly much more understandable now that it's been explained, Mai tries to make clear that her own discomfort was coming from the fact that she had no idea what the goal was.
⚠ <p>Jenny again says she wants to disband from the coterie because her actions might be either for the good or for the worse and that might kill all of us.
⚠ <p> [Jenny] Jenny has several things on her mind at this time. In the back of her mind, she is not so certian that helping Mendalson deal with the Sabbot was the best thing to do.
⚠ <p>The contract is in dire need of repair, it appears, but before that can be addressed...
⚠ <p>4:00 am.
⚠ <p>There is knock on the door. It is Murgatroyd. he says it is time to leave Detroit. The dark one has escaped, he attacked Usari?. Right after the cat arrives. Murgatroyd backs away in fear. The cat strolls in and jumps on Aiden's lap. It streaches out and lets out a great roar that shakes the house.
