A Tremere would be better describing him, but...
From what I know of Jon Areson, he was the Pontifex and lived for a time with the Tremere on Belle Isle in Detroit, at the Tremere chantry.
From what I'd seen of him at court gatherings, his word was always heavily weighed in the Prince and Primogens decision making, and often one word from Areson could change the entire tone of a court gathering.
He had a metal plate on his head, the result, according to JT Wright of an incident in which he peered upon The Face while the face was in its box and was blinded.
In Areson's last few nights, Mai was avoiding him because he seemed crazily hungry for a piece of information Mai had. She had seen something in Romania: a serpent shape in the mountains... and Areson was convinced she knew more of it than she did, but at the same time threatened that if she told anybody what she had seen, he personally would destroy her.
Areson was demoted from his position as Pontifex by the Tremere Justicar (I wish I remembered his name right now). He left that meeting, disgraced, and the last time he was seen, he came out of the tapestry, blackness swirling in his aura, and was ordered to return from whence he came.
