Basic Lunar Ranged Combat charms

Knowing the Arrow's Path (Revised)

Cost: 2 motes + 1 mote per die
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Supplemental
  Minimum Perception: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Nature's Harmony Advantage

The Lunar excercises perfect and find control over his attack, his hand-to-eye coordination flawless and his ability to place his arrow where he wishes it without peer. The Lunar ignores any difficulty penalities caused by cover, and can make impressive trick shots requiring pinpoint accuracy at difficulty 1. In addition, for every additional mote that the character spends on this charm he can add one die to the attack roll. The Lunar cannot add more dice than his Perception rating.

Two-Target Method (Revised)

  Cost: 3 motes
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Extra Action
  Minimum Strength: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Eagle Eye Advantage

The Lunar pours some of his own ferocity and power into an arrow, which the character can use to attack two separate targets. The Lunar makes one attack roll, and applies it against the primary target, who can defend against this attack normally. If the primary defender chooses to parry, he defends himself both himself and the secondary target. A successful parry cancels the second attack entirely, while a partial parry causes the primary target to take damage as normal and reduces the successes on the secondary target. A Dodge only defends the primary target, with the secondary attacker having to face the full initial roll.

Regardless of the result, if subjected to an attack the secondary target is treated as being assaulted by an attack of which he is unaware. He can only defend himself with charms that allow him to defend against such attacks, or any perfect defense.

Skillful Ricochet Attack (Revised)

  Cost: 1 mote per ricochet
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Extra Action
  Minimum Dexterity: 3
  Miinimum Essence: 2
Prerequisite Charms: Knowing the Arrow's Path

The Lunar can use this charm to bounce arrows or thrown weapons across surfaces without any appreciable effort at all. This costs 1 mote per ricochet that the Lunar purchases, and does not enhance the final range of the characters attack. This charm can be used to allow the Lunar to attack opponents around corners, to bypass cover or attack an opponent from behind with all the advantages that entails, or simply to show off. In general, attacking a target the Lunar can only infer the position of adds +1 difficulty to the attack roll, while attacking someone the Lunar only thinks is present adds +2 difficulty. The Lunar cannot bounce the arrow off more surfaces than his Dexterity rating.

Other Charms

  • Wolf Eye Advantage has a cost of 1 mote. See Lunars, pg. 159.

Wind-Wings Carry Technique (Revised)

Cost: 1 mote per 15/50 feet
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Supplemental
  Minimum Perception: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Wolf Eye Advantage

The Lunar can use this charm to greatly extend the maximum range of his bow, relying on his own keen senses and coordination to guide the arrow and adding energy to the arrows flight with Essence. Every mote that the character spends on this charm adds 15 feet to the range increment of a Thrown weapon, or 50 feet to the range increment of a Archery weapon. The character cannot spend more motes on this charm than his (Perception + Essence) rating, but is otherwise not limited in his ability to extend the range of his weapon.

Bow-Bending Method (Revised)

Cost: 3 motes + 2 motes per point
  Duration: Instant
  Type: Reflexive
  Minimum Strength: 3
  Minimum Essence: 2
  Prerequisite Charms: Two-Target Method

All bows have a pull, which provides an upper limit to the amount of strength that can be added to the onrushing arrow. A Lunar with this charm, however, can temporarily endow his weapon with strengthening essence, allowing him to provide his bow with some of the refexive power available to a Powerbow. The Lunar spends 3 motes to eliminate the strength maximum of the bow, and can spend an additional 2 motes per point to add a +1 strength adder to the bow similar to the function of a Powerbow. The Lunar cannot give his bow a Strength adder greater than his Essence rating. If this charm is used on an actual powerbow, the character does not have to spend the initial three motes.

Other Charms

  • Body-Pinning Style: Remove the limitation on the number of extra successes that the character can gain using this charm. See Lunars, page 160.
  • Riding the Secret Wind: If put in a combo with Skillful Ricochet Style, the Lunar can make an attack against anyone within the range of his weapon, even if he does not have a unblocked route between himself and the target.
