Back to Lunar Charms or Changing Moon Caste
Hide of the Cunning Hunter (Revised)
Cost: 1 mote Duration: Instant Type: Simple Minimum Manipulation: 1 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
A Lunar with this charm can dim some of the power of his exaltation with a short stint of meditation, hiding his tattoos and making his tell slightly harder to notice. The Lunar's tattoos gradually fade into his skin after he activates this charm, becoming impossible for even the most astute of observers to notice. In addition, any trying to locate the Lunars tell uses the Shapechanged line regardless of the characters form. This charm ends if the characters anima banner should reach the 8+ motes level, causing his anima to flare.
Masking the Brilliant Form (Revised)
Cost: 3 motes, 1 willpower Duration: Indefinate Type: Simple Minimum Manipulation: 2 Minimum Essence: 1 Prerequisite Charms: None
A Lunar with this charm can hide his tell in illusion and weaves of false essence, misleading others as to its nature and leaving even those familiar with it having a difficult time actually finding it. While active, this charm allows a Lunar who has purchased Deadly Beastman Transformation three or more times to instead act as if he'd only purchased it once. Similarly, a Lunar who has purchased Deadly Beastman Transformation once or twice is treated as one who has never purchased that charm. Lastly, a Lunar without the Deadly Beastman Transformation can totally hide his tell from detection. This charm ends if the characters anima banner should reach the 8+ motes level, causing his anima to flare.
Knowing the Tell
Cost: None Duration: Permanent Type: Special Minimum Manipulation: 4 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Hide of the Cunning Hunter, Masking the Brilliant Form
A Lunar with this charm has grown more in tune with his essential nature as a Lunar, and mastered his shapeshifting to the degree that he can better conceal the tell. In many cases the tell itself actually becomes less obvious. In any event, a Lunar with this charm adds +2 to the difficulty to spot his tell. This bonus persists even when spotting the tell would otherwise be automatic, requiring a roll against difficulty 2 in those cases. This bonus stacks with the bonus from Masking the Brilliant Form, and Hide of the Cunning Hunter.
Mastering the Tell
Cost: 7 mote, 1 willpower Duration: One scene Type: Simple Minimum Charisma: 5 Minimum Essence: 5 Prerequisite Charms: Knowing the Tell
A Lunar with this charm active is generally proof against lesser beings spotting his tell, enabling the Elder Lunars and the Great Beasts of the First Age to fully benefit from their shapeshifting abilities when they wish to do so. When this charm is active, it is not possible for any but the strongest magics to spot a Lunars tell. During the First Age, only Luna and some of the Solar Exalted were reliably able to do such. When using powerful Solar sensory charms such as Unrelenting Observation Method a Solar needs 14 successes to be able to spot a Lunars tell, and that is one of the weakest charms capable of piercing this effect. None of the extant Sidereals charms are able to overcome this effect, and the Dragon-Blooded have never been strong enough to do so.
