Back to Disciplines And Devotions
(Auspex ****, Obfuscate ****)
The Mask of a Thousand Faces allows the vampire utilizing it to utilize more control and prowess over his use of 'the Familiar Stranger' by altering and shaping who the subjects expect to see when the Vampire utilizes the power. In short, the Vampire subtly inserts the image of that he wishes to convey into the minds of those he is using the power on. This need not be an individual they are familiar with, but the Vampire must know roughly who he is attempting to impersonate in order to utilize this power. This power does not replace the need to use the Famililar Stranger, but like "Knowing the Stranger" it modifies that discipline and must be activated prior to that disciplines activation.
It is also possible to use this power to create a new appearance, instead of attempting to immitate another individual. This requires effort before the power is ever activated, however, as the Vampire must build a detailed visual image of this new appearance. This requires a Wits + Expression roll, requiring ten successes. Each level of Striking Looks that the new identity benefits from adds five successes to the roll. Each roll requires one hours worth of artistic effort.
Cost: 1 Vitae, 1 Willpower
Dice Pool: Intelligence + Persuasion + Obuscate, versus Resolve + Blood Potency
Action: Contested; resistance is reflexive.
The vampire takes a -1 to his roll for every individual beyond the first that is present when he attempts
to utilize this power. The Vampire's roll is compared to the resistance roll of everyone effected (roll the
highest pool present versus mortals). If the Vampire succeeds, the Vampire may fool that person into
thinking he is whomever he wishes to appear as the next time he uses the Familiar Stranger. Anyone who
resists this power is affected by the discipline as normal, possibly to great confusion.
This power costs 26 experience points to learn.
