It should be noted that Rohan characters are built identically to other characters. However, some characters might want to tie themselves specifically to the Rohan lands and these guidelines help them decide how to use some of their backgrounds to do this.
There are three primary types of Backing offered to Rohan characters. These are Backing in a given Noble Family, in the Great Council, and in the Rohan Legions.

| x | None. Your character has no standing in any of the Rohani Noble Families, and holds little or no power in any of the traditional power structures of Rohan life. You might be a simple freeman, the whip or servant of a Councilor, or a low ranking soldier in the Legions. |
| o | Your character is a lesser member of one of the Rohani Noble Families, a Khem-tet (sergeant) in the Rohan Legions, or one of the Council's lesser functionaries. |
| oo | Your character is a respected junior member of one of the Rohani Noble Families, a Zung-tet (lieutenant) in the Rohan Legions, or a member of the Lesser Council. |
| ooo | Your character is a ranking member of one of the Rohani Noble Families, a senior officer in the legions, or a member of the Greater Council. |
| oooo | Your character is a respected elder member of one of the Rohani Noble Families, a commanding officer in the legions, or an esteemed member of the Council (either house). |
| ooooo | Your character is the head of one of the Rohani Noble families, the Lungzao of the Rohan Legions, or an elder statesman in the Council. It should be noted that no one holds this level of command in the Council yet, and overall command of the Legions currently rests in the hands of Johann Illhousen. |
There is ample opportunity to develop Influence over the Rohani people, even influence that extends beyond the Rohani themselves and into the South as a whole.

| o | You are respected by the Rohan people as a whole, and most of them know of you. Your actions and words can have an influence on them. This includes most important and influential people among the Rohani who hold little actual power. |
| oo | You are both respected and connected to the centers of Rohan power, and the odds are good that your beliefs and words will reach those with the power to do things. This gives you a measure of influence over Rohan life. Schuyler holds this level of control, as do most Councilors and elder members of the Noble Families. |
| ooo | Your character holds actual power in the Rohan Empire, with the ability to affect both the Rohan Territories and the surrounding lands with your actions. There are meaningful limitations on this power, however. Illhousen, as Lungzao, holds this level of influence, as do most of the leaders of the Noble Families. |
| oooo | You hold broad and impressive power over the Rohani Territories, with your ideals and goals being able to shape policy and affect the entirety of the Rohan people. The most influential members of the Noble Families and the most important Councilors wield this level of influence. |
| ooooo | Your character commands the devotion of the Rohani, and can accomplish deeds both great and small, wielding enough power over the people to influence the South as a whole. Currently, only Balthasar holds this level of control, as he can influence and direct the Rohani people as a whole. |
