Khala of the Double-Blades: Khala was born to a middling family in Yane, destined by her birth hour to go into the City Guards, and live a fairly mediocre life. That horoscope was incorrect. When all else of Yane fell into the hands of the Five and the Father of Darkness, Khala remained loose and on her own. She dwelled in the shadows, in the gutters, her only weapons two sharp blades. She survived as the royal family was gutted, as the Deathknights tore down her land and turned it into a construction camp to build...something. When the Five began to slaughter her fellow citizens and turn the city into one large deathtrap, Khala did what she could to get as many out as she could.
It was only luck, or perhaps destiny, that she survived through the entire experience. Though she slaughtered more than a few zombies and worse undead, she was never found by Blood Feathers and killed like other rebels, and she never fell under the influence of the Tears of Mourning or the fell Artifact that the Abyssals had used to so utterly chain the Varang. After the War which 'liberated' Yane, Khala took those few that remained with her, and travelled with the Legions back to Nei Roh.
Nalar Four-Fingers: Nalar is by far the most comfortable and well-kept of any of the Refugees from Yane, currently living a life of near luxury in the depths of Balthasar's tent-complex. Most of his time is spent in recovery, with the occasional visits by one of the Circle when they wish some bit of information or another. The reason for this is simple: Nalar was the highest-placed mortal in a position of power in Varang, under the Deathknights, to survive the War and make it back to Nei Roh. He knows more of what the Deathknigths and the Father of Darkness were doing than anyone, even if he doesn't understand it all and doesn't always remember everything.
