  • Cerin steps out into one of the smaller gardens within the cascade, towards the top of the manse. He is dressed simply in pale grey silk, trimmed with gold, though he looks subtley ..different. His face seems a little lighter, his hair catching the breeze a little more and now brushed out smoother. "Birds?"
  • Birds-of-Trinity apologises to the crow and turns around. "Cerin. How nice to see you here."

<BirdsOfTrinity> She taps her foot. "Something is--different about you today. Did Zahara do something to your hair?"

  • Cerin shakes his head with a grin, the hair flowing a little "No"

<BirdsOfTrinity> "In any case, you're looking well. You mentioned something about some books?"

<Cerin> "Thank you, and yes, if you are not too busy, I would like to talk to you about books."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "I'd be happy to." She gestures toward a garden table and chair. "Shall we sit?"

  • Cerin nods and walks over to the table, taking a seat then settling his hair behind his ears. "The book you made for Kai, what exactly does it do? It seemed to be most complex magic that you worked."
  • Birds-of-Trinity perches on the arm of a chair and fidgets with a handful of flowers. "My grandmother sometimes told a tale of a sculptor who had vowed to make a great work for someone he loved dearly. He was mortally wounded before he finished, though, so he worked a magic that make his sculpture complete itself."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "The book is the same; I only have to define what I wish it to contain, and the pages fill of their on volition, supplied by my knowledge and that of anyone that reads it."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "It is difficult, and very draining on my Essence...I am attuned to it even now. I hope to find a way to change that, soon."

  • Cerin nods "Perhaps a way can be found to make the magic self sustaining. I think I might need several such books to keep all my many and varied notes organised, and up to date."
  • Birds-of-Trinity nods.

<Cerin> "Could such a book also draw the pictures it would need?"

<BirdsOfTrinity> "I think I can maintain two or three books at a time, until I find a method to stabilise them; yes, they can illustrate themselves, if that is needed." She looks away a moment, as if speculating. "Maybe it's possible to create a book, abandon it, then reattune it as necessary. I will have to experiment further."

<Cerin> "It would be good if you could. Sometime soon, though I fear it might not be for many months with the war, I would like to climb the mountains of Xiyi, and I would like to have at least one of your books in my bag."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "You'll have to find them first. But I'll be glad to help. I can even include an appendinx that describes the technique, so you can learn it if you have a year or so to spare."

  • Cerin sighs "I know I still have to find them. I might have to talk to Ssithumi, or visit Juche once more. I am not yet sure when I will have a year to spare however." he grins

<BirdsOfTrinity> "Ssithumi..." she murmurs, supporting her chin with her hand, "do you ever think that she knows more than she lets on? When she is around I always feel as if I am sitting on the steps of a library, its gates shut."

  • Cerin nods "She knows a lot, of both the world and the past. And she is cautious in sharing it. Considering some of the things we have found, I am not entirely sure I blame her."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "This is true."

  • Cerin gives a small shrug "How goes your work on understanding everything?"

<BirdsOfTrinity> "It's slow, but better organised!"

  • Cerin nods "When next I am in Juche, are there any books you would like me to retrieve to help you?"
  • Birds-of-Trinity thinks. "If any titles come to my attention, I'll let you know."
  • Cerin nods "Of course." he tilts his head slightly "What do you think of my hair, anyway?"

<BirdsOfTrinity> "It's very nice. Has it always been like that?"

<Cerin> "It was once, a long time ago."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "It is good to meet your old self."

<Cerin> "I will try to keep him around I think, his looks if nothing else."

<Cerin> "I will leave you now," he says with a smile. "See you later."

<BirdsOfTrinity> "Don't get in trouble while you're gone."
