Back to Terrestrial Charms or Earth Aspect
Stone Laying Style
Cost: 3 motes Duration: One scene Type: Simple Minimum Ability: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Shaping Hand Style
This charm gives the Dragon-Blooded a deep intuitive understanding into the natural flows of Essence through Creation as they relate to stone, rock, and earth. Often used in the construction of stone structures, this charm is especially common among those Immaculates that emulate Pasiap -- who say it gives the Dragon-Blooded using it a deeper and closer connection to the Earth Dragon, and the flows of Earth Essence throughout the landscape. When involved in masonry or earthenworks double the Dragon-Bloodeds craft pool for the rest of the scene. In addition, any stone/earthen wall or building constructed with his help has a number of additional Health Levels equal to his Essence and is more durable and stable.
Stone-Pounding Fist
Cost: 2 motes Duration: One turn Type: Supplemental Minimum Ability: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Stone-Craving Fingers Form
This Charm causes the Exalts unaided blows to strike home against stone and earth with devestating force. A fist can open large cracks in rock, and the Exalt can easily slam through even thick stone walls. The character doubles all raw damage against stone, earth, or any other forms of elemental earth including worked walls and most forms of metal. If the target chooses to slam himself bodily into an eligable object, this inflicts damage equal to twice the characters strength. This charm is explictly comboable with Mountain Toppling Method, despite the duration of both charms.
Essence-of-Clay Shaping Technique
Cost: 6 motes Duration: Until fired Type: Simple Minimum Ability: 4 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Stone-Craving Fingers Form
This charm is one of the most used by older Dragon-Blooded Craftsmen, as it allows the Terrestrial to imbue an item related to Earth (such as stone, minerals, metal, or even loose sand) with some of the Essence of Clay. This causes the matter to become pliable, able to be worked with the hands and other tools. The material stays this way until it is fired: when the Craftsman (or anyone else) runs a hot flame over them for a few moments. This forces the Clay Essence away, and fixes the item in its current shape. Loose materials, like sand, are bound together after this process.
The amount of material that can be shaped this way is strictly limited: generally, it has to be an amount that can be fairly easily picked up in both hands – volume, not weight! Something roughly the size of a small box, for instance. It is possible to use this charm more than once, to shape individual parts of a larger item.
Land Shapers Hand
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower Duration: Variable Type: Simple Minimum Ability: 5 Minimum Essence: 4 Prerequisite Charms: Essence-of-Clay Shaping Technique
This Charm allows the Terrestrial Exalted to alter Earth, rock, and other Earth-related Materials without actually placing his hands upon them – even large amounts of such materials! However, the more material being worked upon and the more drastic and wide-spread the changes the longer the charm takes and thus the longer the Essence must remain commited. In the Realm, those Dynasts with this Charm often use it to perform large public works progress such as smoothing rough terrain for road building, or making a deep water harbor in an otherwise unsuitable location.
In a single sitting (one scene), the amount of material that can be shaped is roughly twice what is possible with Essence-of-Claying Shaping Technique, except that the Blooded Craftsman need not get his hands dirty with the effort of manually shaping the material! However, the extents of changes possible in that time are inferior to what can be attained with that charm. It might be possible to mold a suit of chain swathing into dense Articulated Plate, but it would take more than one scene!
The benefit of this slower and sustained effort, however, is that the longer one spends with the Essence commited the more extensive and vast the changes can actually be – with months of work, one could create fairly significant changes to the landscape! The charm does have limits, however, and it can only do a bit less than what is possible with Modern-day landscaping tehniques in the real world.
Large scale changes must be directed for roughly one day, and then continue on by themselves for the duration of the charm. The mote cost remains commited the entire time. The exact time frame depends on both the area to be affected, and the extent of changes.
