Tesseract by its nature produces a large amount of specialised terminology, lingo, slang, and other stuff made up on the spur of the moment. Here's a way to help people understand each other.
the below isn't Gospel, except insofar as it probably contradicts itself a lot. Feel free to add you own terms, redefine or add clarity to the definition of old ones, or come up with new slang to describe old concepts. Just don't expect people to necessarily understand you! But then maybe that's the point.
- Tesseract - a location in the virtual reality? A pocket dimension within it was a white room with warm walls.
- imago - what you look like in the virtual reality?
- hardwire - something you burn as a security measure. possibly analogous to the role phones played in the Matrix films??
- line - a general term for the way in which people get inserted into the virtual reality
- Avatar/Av - your representation within the virtual reality
- the Web - a blanket term for the whole of the virtual reality????
- insertion - entering the virtual reality?
- upload - the process of creating your avatar in the virtual reality? A partial upload leaves you comatose and intangible, and might be fixed by rebooting
- reboot - specifically, the restarting of someone's brain, or at least the representation of their brain in the virtual reality. Apparently accomplished by reaching inside it
- the enemy - bad guys
- Spiders - bad guys, I guess?
- Core - a macguffin of some sort, Significant Initial Capitals so it must be important
- transition - moving from one location to another
- push - adding power to something? possibly necessary to do a transition
- to wake - as a verb, to achieve consciousness in the virtual reality
- Wyrm - something that gets inside your brain and messes with you. One that got into Axis made him insensible and limp. You can tell by a glow in the eyes, and can stun them with a copy machine's light... for a while.
- neurhax - Neural hacking?
- Hunter - a scary droid thing with tracking beams, gripping claws and guns.
- "fuzz the vars" - Axis said this and meant do something to local acceleration due to gravity.
