Asuras - the Vampires of India

  • Asuras are possessed by a demonic creature called a vetala that constantly demands they wreak havoc on the mortal world, committing crime and sin. The vetala is a fully intelligent being, just like the Shadow of a Wraith. Further, when an Asura frenzies, the vetala gains control and takes the opportunity to cause as much destruction as it can.
  • The power of the vetala can act as a substitute for mortal blood. Each success on a Self-Control roll allows them one blood point worth of demonic energy, which can be used for anything a normal blood point could be used for. This roll can only be made once in a scene and if it fails, the Asura must make a frenzy check immediately. If it botches, the vetala instantly assumes control of its host without the need for a frenzy check.
  • Asuras are not troubled by the sun except when their vetala is in control. Difficulties to resist frenzy or vetala control are increased by 2 during the day because the light enrages the demon.
  • Asuras must rest for at least 12 hours consecutive a day, or they will start to rot. After 12 waking hours an Asura begins losing 1 Health Level per hour until they rest once more. If they lose all their Health Levels in this manner, they enter Torpor.
  • The Chimerstry Discipline is unique to the Asuras and can not be taught to other vampires. It depends on the power of the vetala.
  • Botches involving the Chimerstry Discipline force a Self-Control check against vetala control, usually at difficulty of 2 + level of the botch-related power.
