Session 6
< Session5 | ArkhamByNightLogs | Session7 >
- The coterie concluded their meeting with Mr. William Whateley, and left the Arkham library with a folio of documents and notes provided by Miss Thompson.
⚠ </br>
- The Mistaktonic University sent an expedition to the Middle East to dig in Ninevah.
⚠ </br>
- They returned with a Mysterious Artifact.
⚠ </br>
- An unnamed source in the expedition was working for Mr. Whateley and Dr. West, but he died "unfortunately" shortly after returning.
⚠ </br>
- The source mailed notes and a map to the source of the Artifact, but they were lost in the Lost Letter Office because the address was illegible.
⚠ </br>
- An agent working for Whateley recovered the notes, but Dr. West's agents recovered the map.
⚠ </br>
- All the members of the expedition died there, en route home, or after returning home, except for Dr. Kathryn Kirk.
⚠ </br>
- Dr. Kirk is currently resident at the Mental Hospital, reduced to a gibbering moron.
⚠ </br>
- The Artifact itself was stolen from a warehouse rented by the University Archaeology Dept.
⚠ </br>
- The warehouse's assigned guard was not on station when it was stolen.
⚠ </br>
- The Artifact is missing.
⚠ </br>
- Whateley believes the Artifact will give him the Powers of the Ancients if he can use it properly, making him unfathomably powerful.
⚠ </br>
- If the coterie helps him recover the Artifact, Whateley will reward them with power and positions of service.
⚠ </br>
- After leaving the library, the coterie went to the Arkham Asylum to see if Dr. Katherine Kirk might have any information for them.
⚠ </br>
- The asylum receptionist, Janice, was 'convinced' by Dr. Hyde that they had an appointment.
⚠ </br>
- Dr. Herman West agreed to meet with them, despite the late hour.
⚠ </br>
- The coterie and Dr. West quickly determined that they were each aware of each other's natures and purposes.
⚠ </br>
- Dr. West attempted to convince the coterie to sabotage Whateley's efforts and aid his own.
⚠ </br>
- He knows that the coterie has met with Whateley and is under compulsion not to speak of their meeting.
⚠ </br>
- Dr. West recaps what Whateley revealed about the Artifact and the expedition.
⚠ </br>
- The map that West has is useless without the notes that Whateley has.
⚠ </br>
- The notes Whateley has are in an ancient language that West can read, but Whateley cannot.
⚠ </br>
- West believes that Whateley is completely insane, and plans to use the Artifact's power to become a blood-god.
⚠ </br>
- If successful, Whateley will attempt to establish an empire of blood and death across the country, or more.
⚠ </br>
- Unlike Whateley, West plans to use the Artifact to locate its source, then mount his own expedition.
⚠ </br>
- He claims to be seeking the origin of the Artifact to investigate the source of its power.
⚠ </br>
- Dr. West has spoken with Dr. Kirk, but was unable to recover any useful information from her.
⚠ </br>
- Following the meeting with Dr. West, the orderly escorted the coterie down to the sub-sub-basement to see Dr. Kirk.
⚠ </br>
- A long, confusing discussion ensued.
⚠ </br>
- There were signs that Dr. Kirk may not be as mentally absent as she appears.
⚠ </br>
- She began to rant quietly, chanting a strange verse: "blood chewing dead nameless city. living blood or dead, dead, dead. fresh blood dead, or dead, dead, dead. dead singing stone urn. dry dead. blood dead to dead blood living. living blood dead, dead blood living. old, old, blood dead. old. old. old. chorus dead blood. singing. sung to. sung. song dead. old dead. AWAKEN! AWAKEN! AWAKEN!"
⚠ </br>
- There was an attempt to feed Dr. Kirk blood, hoping it would make her more lucid. It did not appear to do so.
⚠ </br>
- After speaking with Dr. Kirk, the coterie made a quick report to Dr. West before moving on from the asylum.
