Gideon's Equipment Loadout

 4mm Gauss Pistol

A long-barreled hyper-velocity pistol with more kinetic energy than a 15mm magnum pistol but only a fraction of the recoil. This weapon does 3d(3) small piercing damage, with an Accuracy of 3 and a Range of 500/2,100. It's RoF is 3, Recoil of 2, and it has 40 shots (3 seconds to reload). Bulk is -2. You carry an extra clip, which has an additional 40 shots and a spare C cell to power the weapon. The weapon itself has a HUD Link, a Multispectral Laser Sight, a Recognition Grip that recognizes your finger prints, and a Diagnostic Computer to help make repairs. You also have a Smart Grip, but even so, the pistol has a bit of a kick for you. You're at -1 skill to use the weapon (the HUD usually compensates for this), and lose 1 FP after any long fight.

 Stylish Bioplas Business Suit

A very stylish business outfit which is, incidentally, made of Bioplastic. The armor provides 15 DR versus Burning or Piercing Damage, but only 1/3rd of that against other damage types. It covers both arms, the torso, groin, and both legs. In addition, this suit is a "Buzz Fabric", and thus self-cleaning. It's microscopic circuitry and brushes eject dirt and grim, sheds water and dries five times faster than normal cloth, and otherwise takes care of itself.

 Firefly Swarm (3 square yards)

You tend to keep this large swarm of Nanobots near you, particularly when travelling where its dark. You can command them into small spaces you need illuminated, use them for mobile lamps or simply have them provide a diffuse candle-like glow. They can turn on and off, change colors or dim their lights on command and are controlled by your Wristcomp -- either by your NAI or manually with your neural induction pad. If stacked together these guys can provide a lot of light! These little guys are solar powered: an hour in full sunlight gives them 4 hours of operation energy.

 Wristcomp (Complexity 7)

This tiny wearable computer is worn on a watchband; despite that, it's a very nice computer, with both the Fast and Hardened options. You've bought yourself a fairly effective and well-trained NAI that helps run the computer, and keep a Sleeve Display as well, which has a small display and an integrated speaker. You also sometimes use your Neural Interface to control the device, but generally prefer to just let the AI handle things.

Neural Induction Pad + Total VR Program

Your neural induction pad is worn tucked behind your ear, and generally out of sight. You mostly use it for access to Augmented Reality when working, and to more easily control electronics or even your computer when you need to get something done yourself (the sleeve control only goes so far). You also own a Total VR Program.

 Holotech Player

This small device has pictures of all your family from the old Clan Vessel where you grew up. All together, there are about 30 holograms, most of them of you and your brother, some of your young friends, your parents, and a few of the various other people that you grew up with aboard the Saratoga.

 Biomedical Sensors and Radiation Badge

You've built these sensors into your Business Suit, in addition to the set contained in your Vacc Suit. These sense everything from cardiopulmonary function, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation to posture and activation level. The sensors also note any penetrations in the armor and can be monitored remotely, or the patient data can be encrypted and kept locally. If available to the medic, he receives a +1 bonus to Diagnosis skill to treat the wearer. You also carry a Radiation Badge which displays the actual amount of Rad's your exposed to and can be configured to give a warning at a set level

Other Gear

 Enviromental Gear and other Options

If working in an environment with an unbreathable but otherwise harmless atmosphere, this Air Mask allows you to deal with the problem. You also own a Filter Mask, and a couple of bottles of spray-on Filter Skin (20 credits per application; you have 5). A single application lasts 24 hours, and your effectively sealed during that time, though the Filter Skin allows your own skin to "Breath" by selectively passing air molecules in and sweat out. It can also let you handle vacuum, though a vacc suit is better and safer. You have 8 hours of air in your Small Air Tank.

Smart Vacc Suit, Visored Space Helmet

This is what you use when you absolutely have to be out in space. The Vacc Suit itself is DR 6 flexible armor, while the helmet is DR 40/30, the higher DR for attacks to the skull with the lower value protecting your face and eyes. The helmet also includes a small radio, an infrared visor, and hearing protection. The suit itself comes with biomedical sensors, and provides climate control (-459^F to 250^F), pressure support (up to 10 atmospheres), radiation protection (PF 2) and is vacuum sealed. It also comes with its own Air Tank with 12 hours of air, in addition to the Small Air Tank you own. It takes 30 seconds to put on or pull off; you can halve with a successful Vacc Suit roll.

 Hand Thruster

Your hand thrust allows you to maneuver in Zero-G with thrusts of compressed gas. A successful Free Fall roll is necessary to maneuver well, however. This hand thruster is good for thirty one second bursts (extra air cylinders cost $10 and weigh 1 pound; 3 seconds to replace). Vehicle Statistics, if necessary, are found on p. UT231.

 Cleaning Swarm, Swarmbot Hive

You own your own Cleaning Swarm, which keeps your room and possessions well looked after -- removing dust, grit, and polishing surfaces smooth. These little aerostat are programmed to wait until your on duty to do their work, but you occasionally come back to find the swarm of floating robots whizzing across your room, polishing and brushing like mad. After they're done they retreat back to their Swarmbot Hive to recharge their intergral power cells.

 Attache Case w/ Biometric Scanlock

For those occasions when you need to carry something safely, you own a briefcase made of tough, high0impact armorplast. It has a DR of 16 and is fitted with a Biometric Scanlock that is programmed with your retina and voiceprint by default. The briefcase itself has a varicloth surface and can thus change colors and patterns; you usually have it match your armored suit.

 Stash of Psidoral

You have about 25 doses of your drug of voice on you. Use smuggling to keep these hidden!

  • The default "outfit" above weighs 6.3 lbs, well within your "No Encumbrance" limit. With your Attache Case, the weight increases to 9.3 lbs., still within the limit.
  • If you switch to your Vacc Suit, with your Hand Thruster, you're at 22.5 lbs., within your Medium Encumbrance limit. Add 2 lbs. if you carry your extra Air Tank.
  • Neither armor nor vacc suit, but instead relying on your Air Mask and Filter Tank, lowers the weight total to 7.5 lbs. 10.5 lbs. if you also need a Filter Mask.
