Lunar Smell and Taste-enhancing Charms

Heightened Smell and Taste Method (Revised)

A Lunar with this charm can enhance his innate sense of Smell and Taste, becoming as keen to smells as a Bloodhound and gaining a highly accurate and delicate sense of taste. For every mote he commits to this charm, he converts one die of his Perception attribute to an automatic success. The Lunar only has to roll what dice are left over from his pool. These automatic successes remain as long as the Lunar keeps the motes commited, but only apply to sensory type rolls that are actually based on Smell or Taste. A Lunar does not, for instance, gain these automatic successes in Sorcery spells that require a Perception roll, or touch related rolls. This charm is fully compatible with Sense-Sharpening Change, though the Lunar can only convert his natural perception and any Perception that he's gained from Deadly Beastman Transformation gifts or purchase of the Savage God-Body charm.

A Lunar using this charm enhances his sense of smell subtly, making it more sensitive and better able to detect the subtle essence left by others. The Lunars ability to detect subtle even trace scents and link them to people that she knows or has scented previously becomes particularly uncanny. The Lunar can make a Perception + Awareness roll, which might be enhanced with the Heightened Smell Technique charm. The Lunar divides these successes between time-frame and detail. Each success devoted to time-frame allows the Lunar to look one day back in time in his current location, while every success devoted to detail aids the Lunar in detecting familiar scents and reconstructing events. One success on detail allows the Lunar to detect any familiar scents present within the given timeline, and the number and type of any unfamiliar scents present at the same time. Three successes expand this knowledge to a rough idea of where everyone was, and what they were doing in general. Five successes allows the Lunar to completely reconstruct the scene with some degree of accuracy and an impressive amount of detail.

The Lunar can also use this charm to analyze and provide detailed information about unfamiliar scents that he might come across, with this function not requiring a roll at all. The higher the Lunars essence, the more informaton he recieves about such scents. The Lunar can only use this charm once on any given scent or area during a scene. If he doesn't get as many successes as he'd like, he has to distance himself somewhat before trying again.
