Timeline for Return to Tumult

Events from Time of Tumult

  • RY 769, "the Year of Shadow"
    • Descending Earth: The Circle invades the Father of Darknesses dark tower in the Southeast, slaying a Deathknight left to defend it and a number of Demons, but encountering little other resistance. They cause no end of mischief, including stealing a potent black Hearthstone that had been blanketing the region in unending darkness, and flee into the night. They never learn the exact reason for the Deathlords' abscence.
    • On their trip back through the Scavenger Lands, the Circle encounters the signs of a great battle in the Southwest Jungle, where a singularly powerful individual hewed his way through a number of Dragon-Kings after plundering something from a long lost First Age tomb. Futher upriver, the Circle is ambushed by the Wyld Hunt, which they defeat, stealing their First Age warship and setting off toward the River Province and eventually the city of Chiaroscuro.
    • Ascending Fire: The Circle is largely incommunicado, as they undertake a long Ocean Voyage from the Southeast, through the city of Nexus and past Lookshy, eventually trailing through the Inner Sea and toward the City of Glass, Chiaroscuro. Back in the Southeast, the Father of Darkness discovers events in his Manse, and angrily pushes forward his plans...
    • Resplendent Fire: The Father of Darkness conquers the City of Chiaroscuro, in a brief and bloody battle involving legions of ghosts, hordes of the undead and various walking war machines, and several Warstriders. The head of his army was led by a circle of potent Abyssal Exalted, which hews it's way through the cities Realm's Garrison with little difficulty. Within three nights, the city has fallen completely under the control of the Deathlord.
    • In the city when the Father of Darkness invades, the Circle initially attempts to fight off the invading Deathknights until eventually making a retreat out of the cities harvest and heading toward the West. Though few know the reasons for their disengagement, the Circle seeks a lost Frst Age city in the Far West and the potent weapon that it holds...the Spear of Light.
    • Descending Fire: The Circle arrives in the Far West, finding the City of Del'Roh under siege by the Rohan's and a Brotherhood of Sidereals. The undercity of Kindi has already fallen under a sorcerous assault, and the Sidereals lure the cities god-protector out of the city and imprison him using ancient artifacts of the First Age. The character's ascend into the city before the Realm, and arrange its defense. They manage to defeat the encroaching Realm Legions, and are proclaimed saviors and reborn Kings of Del`Roh.
    • Back in Creation, the Father of Darkness finishes most of his endeavors in Chiaroscuro, raising a lost Manse and harnessing it's power. The South itself is changed in his wake, as a strange winding river slowly makes it's way to the Southern Coast to empty out into the Inner Sea not far from Chiaroscuro itself. This "River of Death", called the Nile by some, causes untold chaos in trade routes and migration patterns.
    • Ascending Water: The Circle assesses the damage caused to the city by the Realm, which is quite severe. The cities immortal leaders have been reduced to dust, it's God-Tyrant imprisoned for a 101 years, and it's active defenses against the Fair Folk rendered to the intensity of cobwebs. Worse, the Circle discovers that the city already stood on the brink of final dissolution and starvation.
    • Resplendent Water: The Circle works as much as they can to preserve the city, fighting holding actions against the Fair Folk and searching for a source of food for the people. In addition to external threats, internal threats must be dealt with as well, ranging from simple political issues to the first advanced signs of the Father of Darkness’s' arrival.
    • Descending Water: The Circle decides to claim the Spear of Light, which keeps the glorious city of Del`Roh afloat, bringing to a head the events of the Rohan Exodus! Over 9 million citizens are ushered through magical gates into the South, with little food and only what treasures they could carry with them. Even so this makes the Rohans one of the largest and richest groups in Creation, albeit on the very brink of massive famine.
    • The Rohan's rally in the face of adversity, viewing the wild horizons before them as a chance to truly make their mark on Creation. A Council forms without the overt input of the Circle, though they quickly direct it's growth as best they can. The first agenda on their matter is the matter of securing food sources for the city they name Nei'Roh.
    • Ascending Wood: The Circle, led by the Lungzao "Johann Illhousen", undertakes the Conquest of the Nation of Harbourhead after spending some weeks raiding outlying villages on the borders of the Kingdoms of Varang and Harbourhead. In a wily flanking manuever, the Circle manages to make a nearly bloodless of takeover of the Kingdom. The Rohan's begin siphoning what food they can back to their own people.
    • Resplendent Wood: The beginning of the Dark Times. The Circle and it's Lands suffer from the beginnings of a rapidly developing onslaught. A strange new disease rampages through the population, the rebirth of the Nine Oaks Lord almost ends in tragedy, the Day Caste "Blood Feathers" engages in widespread assassination and terror, and the Father undertakes the stealthy take-over of the Kingdom of Varang. Some bright spots, however, include the recruitment of some Solars to the Empire's aid, the harvest of some foodstuffs from Harbourhead, and the establishment of supply lines with the Southwest that help to abate the Famine in Nei`Roh.
    • Descending Wood: A hasty coalition of 5 Houses invades the outskirts of the Rohan's territories, liberating the Kingdom of Harbourhead and launching several attacks upon the city of Nei`Roh itself. The Circle manages to beat back to the Dragon-Blooded, narrowly, on several occasions until one of their own betrays them nearly to their doom. This calamity is averted by the arrival of the Free Legions of the Kingdom of Laris, and their Sorcerer-King, Burnished Ivory. Between Sorcery and military action, the Realm is sent back to the Blessed Isle in a calculated retreat.
    • Calibration: The Circle, with the support of the Kingdom of Laris, invades the Kingdom of Varang to force a final confrontation with the Father of Darkness. Their advance is nearly unopposed until they reach the city of Yane, at which time they are forced into battle with the forces of the Father in an attempt to reach the center of the city where a massive pyramid is being constructed via slave labor. Despite numerous set-backs and near diasters, the Solars confront the Father of Darkness and destroy him with the use of the Spear of Light. The city of Yane is devestated in the process, and their Legions decimated.
    • The Realm launches an liberation attempt at Chiaroscuro, from the nearby city of Paragon, at nearly the same time that the Circle attacks the Father of Darkness in Yane. Though the Dragon-Blooded legions confront the Butcher Exaultant in Steel and the Witch in White, and suffer from a fair amount of casualities, they emerge victorious. The Realm quickly occupies the city, and spends the rest of Calibration fighting down the dead.

    • Ascending Air: The Circle, battered but whole, returns to the city of Nei`Roh. Little time is left for leisure however, as much remains to be done! Varang is in ruins, it's citizens decimated and it's capital a cursed land of the dead. The Realm remains a threat, which further entrenches itself in the newly liberated city of Chiaroscuro, and thus Nei`Roh must create more lasting defenses and rebuild its Legions. Though the Father himself is dead, much of his evil remains afoot in the South. After nearly 2 months in these lands the representatives of Laris make to return home, with promises of future aid.
    • Resplendent Air: The heart of Winter in the South, the light chill reaches deep into the Rohans as famine once again rears it's head. The Realm cuts supply lines with the Southwest, reducing Nei'Roh to only it's stores. Whispers of Barbarian Movements in the Far Southern borders of the Rohan Territories also warrant attention, and prompt Schuyler to travel into the South to take counsel with these Barbarians, though as of yet it is still uncertain if they present any threat.
    • We begin our tale on the 12th of Resplendent Air.
