Fortitude 2

This version of Fortitude is intended for games where Soak is automatically applied instead of rolled. This mechanic is called a Soak Score. Mortal characters only have a Bashing Soak Score, equal to half of (Stamina + Armor), rounded up. Vampires can apply their Soak Score against Lethal damage as well.

Level 1 - Unflinching

A simple effort of willpower allows one of the undead to shrug off all but the most devastating attacks. Powered by the Curse of Caine, a vampiric body simply refuses pain and maintains motion in defiance of logic and physics.⚠ </br>

System: The character permanently reduces wound penalties by their Fortitude score.

Level 2 - Stalwart

Temporarily boosting his natural resistance to damage with vitae, a vampire can ignore even deadly attacks. Use of this power must be rationed wisely, for it bears a tremendous cost in blood. There are tales of Kindred left standing unharmed, but on the edge of starvation in the aftermath of a battle.⚠ </br>

System: For the rest of the scene, your Soak Score is increased by 1 for each Blood Point spent on this power. No more Blood Points can be spent on this power than you have dots of Fortitude. Characters cannot exceed their Generational limits when activating this ability, but they may spend multiple turns activating this power to increase its effect.⚠ </br> The extra soak granted by this power does not work against Bane damage, even if you have also learned Adamantine.

Level 3 - Adamantine

Upon reaching this level of Fortitude, a vampire has hardened his body to such a degree that even magical attacks have difficulty penetrating his defenses. The fangs of vampires, the claws of werewolves and other, more exotic powers can now be repelled. The curses God Himself pronounced as banes upon Caine, however, cannot be avoided so easily; the vampiric Banes of fire, sunlight and True Faith remain able to harm the vampire easily.⚠ </br>

System: Once learned, your Soak Score can also be applied against normal Aggravated damage. You also gain a Bane Soak score equal to half your Fortitude rating, rounded up. This power is permanent. ⚠ </br>

Level 4 - Bulwark

Powerful vampires have been seen to wade through entire battles without suffering so much as a scratch or bruise. Their rock-hard skins turn aside virtually any weapon effortlessly. ⚠ </br>

System: This power may be activated reflexively in response to damage, at no cost. Your non-Armor based Soak is not halved before being applied against raw damage. This power can only be invoked a number of times per scene equal to your unmodified Stamina.

Level 5 - Unbreakable

A master of Fortitude can render themselves virtually immune to damage for short periods of time. Only the most brutal of attacks, or severe environmental trauma, can break through their defenses to cause any harm.⚠ </br>

System: For one turn per Blood Point spent, you subtract your Fortitude rating from the number of Health Levels of damage dealt by any attack or effect directed against you. This reduction is applied after soak. ⚠ </br> This power's effects normally do not work against damage from fire, sunlight, or True Faith. However, if you spend a Willpower point, you can force the power to work against such damage for a single turn.
